Celebrate Native American Heritage

Cochise College’s annual Native American Heritage Celebration offers all-day events Tuesday on the Sierra Vista Campus. Headlining this year’s celebration is actor Gary Dale Farmer, who will give a presentation about Native voices in Hollywood and hold a question and answer session 6 – 7:30 p.m. Other activities include drum-making and rug-weaving demonstrations, dancing, poetry readings and more. The series concludes with Nora Ephron’s modern tale Heartburn, the semi-autobiographical novel based on her tempestuous marriage to Washington Post’s Pulitzer Prize winning reporter Carl Bernstein, best known for breaking the Watergate scandal. Book discussion group to meet The next book up for discussion by the Cochise College Literary Guild is “Spirit Walk,” written by Cochise College instructor Jay Treiber. The discussion is Nov. 21, 11 a.m. – noon, in the Horace Steele Room in the Sierra Vista Campus Library Building.
