Huachuca Astronomy Club 8-28

The Huachuca Astronomy Club will meet on Friday, Aug. 28, at 7 p.m. in the community room of the Student Union Building at Cochise College, 901 N. Colombo Ave., Sierra Vista. Our guest speaker will be Dr. Vishnu Reddy from the Planetary Science Institute in Tucson. His talk is titled: “What are the Bright Spots on Dwarf Planet Ceres?” During the approach to Ceres, the NASA Dawn mission discovered several bright spots associated with impact craters. The most prominent of these is a cluster of spots inside an 80-km crater called Occator. Dr. Reddy will present the latest information from the mission and discuss the nature of these mysterious spots. The meeting is FREE and open to the public. A door prize will be awarded but you must be present to win.
