I-19 work in Tumacacori south of Tucson

Interstate 19 will have 15-minute intermittent closures in both directions near Tumacacori (milepost 18-19/kilometer 29-30) on Thursday (Sept. 24) from 1 to 3 p.m. for roadway improvements.

I-19 has been narrowed to one lane in both directions around the clock through October 2015 to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to resurface pavement on I-19 from Palo Parado Road to Tubac (mileposts 16 - 21/kilometers 25 - 34) and for bridge work at the north- and southbound Tumacacori and Arroyo Angulo Agudo bridges.

  • There will be intermittent ramp closures at the Tumacacori traffic interchange during the work.
  • DETOUR: Drivers may use Palo Parado Road (Exit 25) or Tubac (Exit 34).

The $4.1 million improvement project is expected to be completed by spring 2016.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
