Improvement project on SR 86 near Sells nearing completion

The Arizona Department of Transportation is nearing completion of a project to improve a segment of State Route 86 east of Sells.

Paving work on SR 86 is complete and crews are now working to complete other tasks related to the project, including seeding the highway shoulders, adding rumble strips and striping the newly repaved segment.

These remaining tasks will require periodic shoulder closures and rolling operations on the highway that will bring brief delays to motorists. Work hours will be as needed Monday through Friday between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. The speed limit in the project area will be reduced to 45 mph when workers are present.

The project will be completed in early December.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down, and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center atwww.az511.gov or call 511.
