Upcoming Work

Beginning March 7:
    • The east- and westbound I-8 on- and off- ramps at Trekell Road will be closed, one side at a time, during the day from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. for approximately two weeks for paving. Two ramps will always remain open while the other two are closed.

In mid-March, the following daytime restrictions will be in place from 4 a.m. to 5 p.m. through the end of March for paving.
    • The eastbound I-8 to eastbound I-10 ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Jimmie Kerr Boulevard.
    • The eastbound I-10 to westbound I-8 ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Sunland Gin Road.
    • The westbound I-10 to westbound I-8 ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Jimmie Kerr Boulevard.
    • The eastbound I-8 to westbound I-10 ramp will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to Sunland Gin Road.
    • The east- and westbound I-8 on- and off- ramps at Thornton Road will be closed. Traffic will be detoured to the adjacent exits.

Drivers should anticipate delays of no more than 15 minutes during the detour and lane restrictions.

The work is to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to reconstruct bridge barrier and improve drainage. Lane restrictions will be in effect for the duration of the project. The speed limit will be reduced to 45 mph. The work also includes new pipe extensions, cattle guards and lowering I-8 at Thornton Road to meet the new bridge height of 16 feet.

The $7.3 million project is expected to be completed by summer 2016.
Drivers are reminded to share the road, be cautious, and slow down while traveling through the work zone.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned roadway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
