Gossip Girl's Sam Page Is a Dad! Actor Welcomes First Child With His Wife Cassidy. Welcome to the joys of fatherhood, Sam Page. The actor known for his roles in Gossip Girl, Desperate Housewives, and more projects shared good news with his followers on social media Tuesday afternoon. As it turns out, he just became a dad. "The newest, best and brightest part of my life hanging out with the chilliest and hairiest part," he shared on Instagram as his newborn smiled next to the family's golden retriever. "These two are going to learn a lot from each other." He added, "Welcome to the world, my son Logan." The announcement caught many fans by surprise especially because his last Instagram post was nearly 38 weeks ago. And while he's been a bit more active on Twitter, the Hollywood star tries to keep his private life pretty darn private. Back in November 2014, the Mad Men star married Cassidy Boesch just outside Santa Barbara, Calif. "Making it official," he wrote on Instagram with a photo from Villa Sevillano. Family and friends including groomsman Jonathan Bennett watched the couple exchange vows below a beautiful canopy covered in white roses. Since the magical wedding day, the actor has gone on to star in Switched at Birth and Unbreakable Kimmy Schmidt. Before then, fans may recognize the star from Mad Men, Greek and American Dreams. Katherine Heigl already knows a thing or two about motherhood thanks to her two daughters, but her first pregnancy has presented some unfamiliar challenges. One of the biggest adjustments? Fighting those cravings for junk food, which the Doubt actress is "trying really hard to stop" giving into. "I feel like what I need to do is just eat one donut a week," she tells ET. "Just have one and then stop thinking about it." While that sounds doable, temptation is always lurking -- especially when she's shooting a television show where catered confections are always an arm's reach away. "If I'm not on set, I don't think about them that much. And I don't eat them because they're not around," Heigl shares. "But on set, crafty always has a plethora of donuts in really pretty pink boxes and I can't stop thinking about them." Now that the 37-year-old Emmy winner is getting closer to her January due date, there's another challenge on the set of Doubt: hiding her growing baby bump. Luckily, the crew has gotten creative. "Today was really impressive," Heigl says. "I had to come up to my desk and I didn't know that they had strategically placed [a desk lamp]. They were like, 'Katie, would you mind taking a small step to your right?' And I looked down and this lamp was right there. That's clever." Heigl previously adopted two children with her husband, musician Josh Kelley, daughters, Adalaide Marie Hope, 4, and Naleigh Mi-Eun, 7. PEOPLE confirmed in June that the couple were expecting their first son. "The Kelley clan is thrilled to announce that we are expecting a third addition to our family," they told PEOPLE in a statement in June. "Naleigh and Adalaide could not be more excited to welcome their new sibling into the fold and Josh and I are overflowing with joy and gratitude." (People)

Why Justin Theroux Was Scared to Meet Emily Blunt's New Baby. Justin Theroux met Emily Blunt's new baby, three-month-old Violet, while they were in New York City promoting their new movie The Girl On the Train. Theroux admits he was nervous about seeing the little one (she's the second child for Blunt and John Krasinski) for the first time. "I was worried when she handed the child to me it was going to recognize my voice as the one yelling at her the entire movie," he told me. "It went fabulously good. The baby did not cry." In the Tate Taylor-directed adaptation of the bestselling novel of the same name, Blunt plays an alcoholic who is having a hard time accepting that her ex-husband (Theroux) is happily remarried and now a father. She eventually entangles herself in the investigation into the disappearance of her ex's nanny. Theroux's infant daughter in the movie was played by a set of twins, who didn't exactly bond with Jennifer Aniston's hubby. "He's normally known as the baby screamer," Blunt said, adding, "But he actually was the baby whisperer [with Violet] and Violet threw him a bone and decided to be sweet." LOL! Considering Blunt is playing a hardcore alcoholic in the film, she wasn't her usual beautiful self. "I looked like s--t," she said. So much so that Krasinski described her as a "ghoul." Blunt was actually pregnant with Violet when they shot the movie. "It's physical playing a drunk," she said. "I hadn't anticipated how physical it was and the focus needed to portray it in a truthful way...I think my fragile state helped it." Theroux was the first of her co-stars to know she was expecting. Blunt didn't tell Luke Evans until just before they shot a horrifying scene in which he physically assaults her. "She gave me a little cuddle and said, 'Let's get through this! It's going to be fine,'" Evans remembered. "And then she said, 'Just so you know, I'm four months pregnant.'" The Girl on the Train is in theaters on Oct. 7. It's nearing two months since JoJo Fletcher said "yes" to Jordan Rodgers on the season finale of The Bachelorette in August, and now E! News has the scoop on what they've been up to lately. An insider tells us the pair spent last weekend at the iHeartRadio Music Festival in Las Vegas, where they were spotted holding hands, kissing and packing on the PDA backstage. Several other contestants from JoJo's season -- including Luke, Chase, Wells and Robby -- were also in attendance. We're told everyone was hanging out and totally fine. "There was no tension," our source explained. Meanwhile, despite their constant PDA, a few people close to the couple still aren't sure if they're for real. Another insider tells us, "There are people who know Jordan and JoJo who still don't know what to make of them. On the surface, they act happy and in-sync. But it's sometimes hard to tell if it's real or not. If this relationship doesn't work out, both of them -- JoJo especially -- would loathe hearing the words, 'I told you so.'" Though the couple previously admitted the negative attention has been "very hard" to deal with, they are still confident in their love. They even made a bet with E! News when we sat down with them after the finale. "I vow that if we are not together one year from now, we'll both, obviously separately if we're not together, we'll do 1,000 jumping jacks for E! News," JoJo promised. Jordan took it even further, adding, "I'll do it in a man thong, sure. Let's up the stakes!" "I feel like we're exacerbating it by even talking about it," Cox said about her longtime bestie and former Friends costar getting dragged into the divorce drama. One day after Jolie, 41, filed divorce papers from Pitt, 52, social media users reacted to the news by tweeting gifs and memes of Aniston, 47, cheerleading and giving I-told-you-so faces among others. #JenniferAniston even became the second most popular trending topic on Twitter, behind #Brangelina. Pitt and Aniston were married for five years before divorcing in 2005, the same year he was filming Mr. & Mrs. Smith opposite Jolie. Cox wasn't the only one speaking out to defend Aniston. Justin Theroux spoke out on Monday, slamming what he called "nonsense" attempts to drag his wife into the divorce. "There's an endless appetite for trash, apparently-though everyone would say that they don't have that appetite," Theroux, 45, told Business Insider. "But I think a lot of people do because people buy it. But there are bigger things to bitch about. It's shocking how much bandwidth things can take up when there are far more important things going on in the world." Shannen Doherty shared an emotional tribute on Monday dedicated to her husband of five years, Kurt Iswarienko, on Instagram. The Heathers actress posted a photo of the pair on their wedding day, holding hands and smiling. "Our wedding was exceptional and not for the big event it was. It was exceptional because we committed for better or worse, in sickness or in health to love and cherish one another," she shared. "Those vows have never meant more than they do now. Kurt has stood by my side thru sickness and makes me feel more loved now than ever. I would walk any path with this man. Take any bullet for him and slay every dragon to protect him. He is my soul mate. My other half. I am blessed." Doherty told PEOPLE she was diagnosed with breast cancer in August 2015. In early September, she told ET her marriage was "always fantastic" but "it's even better now." Here's How Drew Barrymore and Her Former In-Laws Are Getting Along Following Her Divorce From Will Kopelman. Drew Barrymore ran into her ex-husband Will Kopelman's father and brother-in-law earlier this week, but it wasn't the meeting you might expect when dealing with one's former in-laws. The actress spoke at a panel about building online brands for companies during Advertising Week on Tuesday and couldn't help but gush about Will's father, Arie -- the Vice Chairman of Chanel -- and his brother-in-law, Harry Kargman. At one point, Arie joked that he didn't see any royalties after helping Barrymore create the packaging details for her cosmetic company, Flower Beauty. However, the actress was quick to retort, "I gave you two granddaughters," she said as the crowd laughed. "And they love their poppy!" She continued in praising her daughters, Olive and Frankie's grandfather as she told the crowd, "He's the grandfather of all grandfathers. He always says there's nothing overrated about being a grandparent and he is the ultimate grandparent." Of course, Arie couldn't let her off the hook so easily. "And you know the old joke: why are grandparents and grandchildren so close?" he asked. "They have a common enemy!" he teased the actress. "Just kidding!" Though Barrymore finalized her divorce from Will in August, less than a month after filing, it should come as no surprise that she still gets along well with his family. In fact, in an interview with Good Housekeeping in April, she said, "I don't think there was one moment when I knew I wanted to spend my life with Will. It was a sweeping, fluid process. It was falling in love with his family, being ready to have a family of my own and thinking if I had a family with this family, it would be really wonderful. Kate Hudson Opens Up About Estranged Relationship With Her Biological Father: "I Forgive Him." When it comes to her tumultuous relationship with her father, Kate Hudson has found peace. The Mother's Day star joined The Howard Stern Show on Sirius XM Wednesday morning for an in-depth conversation about life in the limelight, including where things stand between her and musician Bill Hudson. In June of last year, the Hudson patriarch slammed Kate and her actor brother Oliver Hudson, telling DailyMail, "I say to them now, 'I set you free.' I had five birth children and I now consider myself a father of three. I no longer recognize Oliver and Kate as my own... [Oliver] is dead to me now. As is Kate." To that end, Hudson admitted to Howard Stern, "I think forgiveness in any aspect is something that is complex. It is the greatest tool to be able to separate that attachment. So for me, I recognize whatever those issues are is something he has to live with. That must be painful for him and I forgive him." It's no secret that the Hudson siblings have long considered mom Goldie Hawn's partner Kurt Russell their sole father figure, and Hudson revealed her relationship with Bill began to dissolve around the time of his split from Hawn in 1980. As of now, Hudson said they aren't on speaking terms. "I never felt it was about losing interest," she explained. "My mom never spoke poorly of him. I was a real tough little girl. I understood what was going on, I did understand that it didn't have to do with me and Oliver." But of the support she's felt from the Hollywood veteran over the years, Hudson told Stern, "The trust I got from [Russell] in terms of his dependability was priceless for me." The 37-year-old mother of two also revealed that Russell taught her a lot about staying true to one's self in the entertainment industry. "I think when you grow up with parents like I did, competitiveness in this world is like a 'no, no," Hudson said. "You get it right away. Kurt was great with that stuff when we were growing up. Madonna Follows Katy Perry's Lead and Gets Naked to Vote. Katy Perry isn't the only one taking off her clothes to encourage people to get out and vote. Madonna took to social media early Wednesday morning to share a naked selfie, not in a gratuitous fashion but in a way that's promoting Perry's same message: go out and vote this presidential election. Although Perry has made it clear she's voting for Hillary Clinton -- she's been spotted on campaign stops -- her Funny or Die video didn't advocate for one politician or the other. Madonna, however, is hoping people will vote for the democratic nominee. "Im voting naked with Katy Perry!! Vote for Hillary. She's the Best we got!," she tweeted, adding American flag emojis. "Nude Voting series # 1." Does that mean we'll be getting more pictures of a naked Madonna? Perry teamed up with Funny or Die and Rock the Vote to release a hilarious video in honor of Voter Registration Day Tuesday. She admitted upfront that she was using her body as "click bait" to get young people to turn out to the polls Nov. 8. Schumer was followed on Intel's list by Justin Bieber, Carson Daly, Will Smith, Rihanna and Miley Cyrus. Schumer wasn't the only funny person to make the cut. In the 72 hours after Brad Pitt's wife of two years, Angelina Jolie, blindsided him by filing for divorce September 19, newspapers and gossip blogs rushed to paint him as an angry, unfaithful villain. The person allegedly behind the reports: his wife. People in Jolie's inner circle "are running a smear campaign," a source claims in the new issue of Us Weekly. The insider adds that the negative press reports are an attempt to discredit the 52-year-old War Machine star. The most disturbing story came from TMZ September 22: The site reported that the actor -- who Jolie, 41, his partner of 12 years, praised as a "wonderful father" in 2013 -- became "verbally abusive and physical with his children" in front of their mother aboard a private jet September 14. But while Jolie's friends insist Pitt indeed has a terrible temper, Us can confirm the Maleficent star, 41, long plotted to leave him -- and gain physical custody of their six children, Maddox, 15, Pax, 12, Zahara, 11, Shiloh, 10, and 8-year-old twins Knox and Vivienne. Jolie, deeply unhappy with Pitt after years of fighting, had been quietly laying the groundwork to leave her husband. The incident on the plane -- a Pitt friend admits the actor lost his temper, but insists he was not abusive -- may have been the last straw. It also, however, provided her with an opportunity to get the upper hand in a custody battle and keep the kids overseas. "Angie says she is going to destroy him," claims one Jolie friend. "If something is broken, she just throws it away." In the past year, the humanitarian had been "ramping up her efforts in the political world," says a Jolie confidant. The United Nations special envoy for refugees aspired to turn her back on Hollywood and develop a "full-time role" in the U.K., says the source. Two politicos she met through her humanitarian work, Arminka Helic and Chloe Dalton, both former advisers to onetime U.K. foreign secretary William Hague, helped her. Helic aided Jolie in nabbing a 2017 professorship at the London School of Economics. Over the summer, the Oscar winner reportedly even rented a five-bedroom, $8.5 million home in Malibu. Multiple sources confirm Jolie -- who hired shrewd divorce lawyer Laura Wasser -- barely gave her husband notice that she had decided to officially declare their differences "irreconcilable" and seek a divorce. "Angelina filed the papers a minute before the courts closed. He didn't have a lawyer or anything," says a Pitt source. "He has been crying constantly." Meanwhile, holed up in Malibu with the children as well as Helic and Dalton, Jolie has blocked Pitt's number from her phone. Pitt, who hasn't seen the children since Jolie filed for divorce, "is a shattered man," continues the source. Selena Gomez Reportedly In Rehab To Fight Depression. If this is true, we're just glad Selena Gomez is getting the help that she needs. Last month, the pop princess announced that she's cancelling the rest of her Revival Tour due to depression, panic attacks, and anxiety brought on by her lupus diagnosis. But now, the sweet singer has reportedly checked herself in to rehab to fight her mental health issues. RadarOnline is reporting the former Disney darling was secretly admitted to an east coast treatment facility earlier this month, and sources tell the tabloid the hitmaker will be there for two months, saying: "The facility is a women's only facility in a secluded wooded area. She's staying for more than 60 days." Rehab would definitely explain the 24-year-old's social media silence. The insider continued to say Miz Gomez's facility "is not a huge celebrity center or anything like that, and it's not somewhere where Selena has any ties." But, the confidante confessed the rehab did appeal to the brunette's faith, adding: "The rehab has a Christianity-based track, which might have been appealing given her religious background." The source spilled that Selly will be undergoing intense therapy, and therapeutic activities involving horses are also available. As time goes on, the insider admitted patients will be granted more freedom: "Residents are allowed to leave as a group on occasion for day trips to the surrounding area." However, the confidante revealed the facility has upped patient protection since the actress arrived: "They've significantly heightened security since she checked in." Radar is not releasing the name of the rehab center, and the source insists that Selena is NOT being treated for drug-related issues. French Montana got pulled over outside a strip club, and seemed to have Desiigner's recent arrest in mind ... as he joked about his fellow passengers holding anything illegal. French and a bunch of friends were being driven in an SUV leaving Aces in Queens early Wednesday ... when they got stopped. While recording video, he threw a few verbal jabs at the officers. He referred to them as "hip-hop cops" (the alleged NYPD unit dedicated to tracking rappers) ... and repeatedly yelled, "Black lives matter." French wanted to make sure no one else in the ride had "some s*** I need to know about." You'll recall, Desiigner was initially arrested for gun and drug possession. The drugs turned out to be steroids, which did not belong to Desiigner or his crew, and most of the charges against him have been dropped. (TMZ)

Lena Headey says she won't be returning her son to L.A. anytime soon -- father's wishes be damned -- because the American education system sucks. Headey's ex-husband, Peter Loughran, claims in new legal docs Lena agreed to return their 6-year-old son from the U.K. after she was done filming "Game of Thrones" ... but didn't. Headey supposedly emailed Peter saying she was enrolling their son in a Yorkshire school because the kid was being held back by a subpar American school system. Loughran insists the deadline for returning the kid was Sept. 5th, so she's brazenly violated their deal and his right to make decisions for his child. She begs to differ, saying he agreed the. Loughran says he hasn't seen his kid in 8 weeks ... Headey hasn't even let them chat on the phone. The former couple will have a showdown in an American court next month. (TMZ)

Hayden Panettiere better think twice the next time she pawns off a couple dogs for 6 years ... at least that's the takeaway after she settled up with her former dog sitter. You'll recall Tia Brooks sued Hayden back in July in a bizarre case. Hayden got 2 rescues and left them with a dog sitter for 6 YEARS, paying a whopping $119,335.88. Seriously. But Hayden claimed the dog sitter was a crook, giving the pooches away but pretending she was still caring for them and billing all the while. Brooks claimed everything she did was kosher and turned around and sued Hayden for the $8,500 balance she said was owed. We've learned the case quietly settled. They split the doggie in half and Hayden paid Brooks $4,250. Brooks appeared on "TMZ Live" shortly after filing suit and refused to say where Zander and Xena ended up. As for why Brooks says Hayden left the dogs with her for half a dozen years ... well, it's crazy. (TMZ)

Tokio Hotel guitarist Tom Kaulitz doesn't want to love the woman who loves him back anymore -- he's calling it quits with his wife ... TMZ has learned. Tom, the twin brother of lead singer Bill, just filed divorce docs -- obtained by TMZ -- to part ways with Ria Sommerfeld, with whom he tied the knot a little more than a year ago. Tom's citing irreconcilable differences, and wants the judge to shut down any request by Ria for spousal support ... we're guessing he's the breadwinner. Tom and the rest of the Tokio Hotel crew have been making hits in both German and English for years, and it looks like he might have made most of his cash well before getting with Ria last year ... when he toured a bit but didn't put out any new music. The LAPD is investigating the gang rape allegations involving New York Knicks point guard Derrick Rose and two of his childhood friends. As you know, last year a woman known by court docs as Jane Doe came forward accusing the athlete of drugging her and later gang raping her at her apartment while she was unconscious back in August of 2013. She is seeking $21.5 million in her civil case. LAPD detective Nadine Hernandez confirmed the criminal probe in a letter penned to Jane's attorney to "clarify any misconception" that the police weren't pursuing the case. Hernandez also addressed a federal judge's recent ruling that Doe could no longer use an alias during her October 4 civil trial by saying: "Her identity will continue to remain confidential throughout the criminal investigation being handled by the Los Angeles Police Department. The ability to offer anonymity to victims of sex crimes is an invaluable investigative aid to investigators as well as a great comfort to victims of crimes of such a sensitive nature." During a press conference on Monday, the 27-year-old basketballer said of the criminal investigation: "My concern is just playing well this year. I can't think about the case. I feel like I'm innocent and I feel like I didn't do anything wrong, like I said, and I can't let that distract me with the year that I have ahead of me. I'm not worried about it, but if I do have to miss time, it's a part of it. Of course I don't want to be in this position, but it is what it is and I'm going to let my lawyers and my team handle it." Jenna Dewan-Tatum Returns to Her Dancer Roots in Danskin Campaign. Jenna Dewan Tatum is going back to where it all began. Long before the Hollywood beauty launched her acting career, Dewan-Tatum started out as a backup dancer and video vixen for music icons like Janet Jackson, Ricky Martin and Missy Elliot. She caught her big break in 2006, starring alongside now-husband Channing Tatum in the wildly popular dance flick, Step Up. Now a decade later, the 35-year-old mom is putting her skills to the test as the face of Danskin. The dance wear line's latest campaign features Dewan-Tatum at her most athletic in a number of extremely impressive action shots. "This is definitely not a typical shoot; this is way more me," Jenna says in a promotional video. "I get to actually dance and move and feel free. I grew up wearing these leotards." And though she admits it's been a "very long time" since performing some of the moves captured in the campaign, Dewan-Tatum believes, "I like to say once a dancer, always a dance. In everything -- the way you walk, the way you move is part of being a dancer." She continues, "It's one of the positive side effects of dancing for 25 years. You're very in tune with your body." Back in August, Jenna and Channing celebrated the tenth anniversary of the fan-favorite dance movie that initially brought them together by recreating one of their famous moves from the film. The duo danced all the way to the wedding alter three years after meeting on set, and in 2013, welcomed their first child together, a daughter named Everly. Jaden Smith to Be Honored at Environmental Media Awards for His Leadership in the Eco-Community. Jaden Smith is being recognized for his efforts in taking on environmental issues. Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith's 18-year-old son will be presented with the Male EMA Futures Award (alongside Shailene Woodley) at the Environmental Media Association's 26th Annual EMA Awards on October 22 for his leadership and action in the eco-community. President of EMA, Debbie Levin, said in a statement, "We are so honored to be able to share with the global public this inspiring young voice for environmental issues and sustainability. Jaden is a true activist and role model that can authentically lead his generation to a more thoughtful and conscious future." Miley Cyrus Says She Was Underpaid on Hannah Montana. Hannah Montana wasn't the only one living a double life -- Miley Cyrus was, too, in a way. Excerpts from her Elle cover story were released Sept. 12, and on Tuesday, the magazine released the rest of her interview. For four seasons, Miley played the titular character on Hannah Montana -- a normal girl by day, a singer by night -- until the hit Disney Channel series came to an end in 2011. Miley's father, musician-turned-actor Billy Ray Cyrus, played her character's father, Robby Stewart. When the show premiered, Miley felt like her dreams had come true. It wasn't until later, however, that her dream began to feel more like a nightmare. "I did not grow up spoiled in any way. I just wanted to be on TV. I mean, at one point -- they'll probably kill me for saying it -- I was probably the least paid person on my cast because I didn't know any better," the actress recalls. "I was just like, 'I can be on Disney! Yeah, I want to do it!'" Though Billy Ray was technically "in the industry," she says, "He so wasn't." Miley's desire to be on TV and her parents' naivete ultimately ruined the entire experience. "My name was Miley on my show, but I didn't own my name -- we didn't think about that. Like, 'Yeah, you can use my name on your show, sure!' My mom started understanding how many people take advantage of a child, so she hired smart people to protect me in that way. I'm happy that when I was younger, people protected me and put me in a position where I can now control my music." Hannah Montana made Miley the most famous teenager in the world, and the world watched and judged her as she figured out who she wanted to become. "When I look at my little sister, who's 16, I don't judge her for anything she does because I remember where I was at that time. I was such an emotional person -- I'm still such an emotional person -- but I was trying to find out who I was," she says in hindsight. "You go through these stages, especially in our industry." Even in his heyday, Billy Ray never reached Miley's level of fame. So, despite his best efforts to empathize, he couldn't fully understand how hard it was for her to be under constant scrutiny. "Paparazzi always made me really uncomfortable. You're growing up and you look weird sometimes. My zits were all crazy; I've gone through some hair trauma," Miley says. "That's how I started sticking out my tongue in pictures. Because I hate everyone being so serious." Finding her identity as people projected their own ideas about who she was -- and who she should be -- only complicated matters. "When we were that age, we so thought we knew who we were. When people say you're going to be so different at 22 or 23, when you're 16, you're like, 'I'm so not!' And then you change drastically," she says. "But when you're younger, you're more selfish, because there's so much self-exploration, you're in your own mind. I didn't think about the meat I was eating. I would wear leather. I would wear fur. I was just uneducated." Today, the "Dooo It!" singer and Voice coach sees the world -- and her purpose in it -- from a different perspective. "I was watching this documentary about dragonflies -- they go from this crunchy little larva to this crazy dragonfly. So why can't we do that? If we're so smart and so much better than all the animals, and man rules the world, why can't we just change all the time from, like, a caterpillar to a butterfly?" she asks Elle. "I just don't think I'm doing enough -- which everyone around me would kill me for saying, because I definitely can take it too far." (Eonline)

Fogelman said the players behind the scenes had worked out a "carefully mapped out" 18-episode story for the first season. This order "allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent." The Keeping Up With the Kardashians star and her rapper beau are the stars of Alexander Wang's Fall 2016 campaign video. The clip, which premiered exclusively on Yahoo! Tuesday, features Kylie and Tyga at what appears to be a house party. Skrillex, who did the music for the clip, is also featured in the video as well as one of the stills. Alexander Wang spoke to Yahoo Style about the campaign, saying, "I wanted to create this hybrid idea of a music video with my favorite movies growing up, referencing Ferris Bueller's Day Off, Can't Hardly Wait." He added that, "A lot of [the cast] are people that I've always really respected, collaborators, or models I've used for quite a long time, where I've seen them grow into their own." Wang told Yahoo Style that the cast of his campaign video wound up "essentially creating their own storyline," giving the video an authenticity he wanted to continue from his previous campaign. The Oscar winner probably didn't expect to log onto Twitter when he walked onto the set of The Late Show with host Stephen Colbert. However, the comedian managed to get the luddite his own handle on the website and even offered an introductory course on hashtags. "Would you like to make your first tweet right now?" Colbert asked the star and Penn obliged. As a nod to his brand new audiobook, Bob Honey Who Just Do Stuff, Penn gave a shout out to the downloadable free audiobook's mysterious author, Pappy Pariah. "Pappy, where r ya?" the Milk star suggested. Colbert threw in the "r" for millennial appeal -- and it worked. So far, the tweet has garnered nearly 1,000 likes and almost 500 retweets. He's already close to cracking 2,000 followers just overnight. As for that very important hashtag, the two settled on the topic of the night, #BobHoney. Serena Williams is speaking out about the increasing police violence of unarmed African Americans. In a candid and powerful Facebook post on Tuesday, the athlete expressed how she fears for the safety of her 18-year-old nephew. Williams, 35, shared what had happened earlier in the day when she asked her nephew to drive her to her meetings. "In the distance I saw cop on the side of the road. I quickly checked to see if he was obliging by the speed limit. Then I remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend," she wrote, referencing the shooting of Philando Castile, whose death in Minnesota was captured on video by his girlfriend. "All of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds. I even regretted not driving myself. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my nephew. He's so innocent. So were all 'the others,'" said Williams, whose half-sister was killed in a 2003 drive-by shooting in Compton, California. The tennis champion's post comes just days after the deaths of two African American men Keith Lamont Scott and Terence Crutcher, both who were fatally shot by police in Charlotte and Tulsa, respectively. "I am a total believer that not 'everyone' is bad It is just the ones that are ignorant, afraid, uneducated, and insensitive that is affecting millions and millions of lives," Williams continued in her post. She concluded, "I had to take a look at me. What about my nephews? What if I have a son and what about my daughters? As Dr. Martin Luther King said 'There comes a time when silence is betrayal.' I Won't Be Silent." Williams previously spoke out about police brutality and gun violence in October 2015, when she offered her support of Black Lives Matter. Later that day, police shot and wounded an African American man in El Cajon, California. A woman close to the scene captured the shooting on video. (People)

A "very drunk" Jimmy Fallon rocked out at punk bar Manitoba's on Thursday. "He was at the end of the bar playing '90s music on his phone," a spy said. "He would have the bartender hook it up and start dancing. He was very drunk, cutting up and making people laugh." The "Tonight Show" host didn't leave till about 3 a.m. "He left alone and people recognized him on his way out," said a source. "He was like, 'Hugs for everybody!' Someone asked for a selfie and he was like, 'Nah, not right now.'" Another source said: "Jimmy was with his staff following the debates and was there for less than an hour." The former Mrs. Wiz Khalifa will stop in multiple cities, including New York, Miami, Las Vegas, Atlanta and Chicago. DJ Tori Brixx will open for Rose throughout the tour, which will kick off in 2017. The Deepwater Horizon actress revealed Tuesday that in addition to making movies and designing an athleisure collection, she plans to make an album. Hudson has music in her blood, thanks to her father, singer Bill Hudson (from whom she's estranged), and her mother, dancer-turned-actress Goldie Hawn. And Kate -- who broke out in 2000's Almost Famous -- even welcomed two sons of her own with rockers: the Black Crowes' Chris Robinson and Muse's Matthew Bellamy. Understandably, Kate has some reservations about putting herself out there. "I've always been scared of making music, because I like authentic [songs]. I like music that feels really honest. I love pop music! But I write music and it's super depressing," said Kate, who inherited Goldie's bubbly attitude. "I just kind of feel like it'd be like, 'Oh, Kate's gonna do -- whoa! What is that?'" But Kate isn't one to let fear stop her. "I want to do it. I think I'm just going to do it for the sake of doing it and see how it turns out. Why not? It's no surprise that Lil Chano made the cut, since President Obama included Chance's "Acid Rain" on his summer playlist. Chance also revealed last month that he knows the Obamas are fans of his Coloring Book album, which he told GQ is on repeat at 1600 Pennsylvania Ave. "They're bumping Coloring Book hard up there. If you go up there, you'll probably hear Coloring Book. This is not a joke at all," he said. Sia Uses 'The Greatest' to Praise Hillary Clinton's Stamina in Post-Debate. Sia reached into her bag of hits to support Democratic presidential nominee Hillary Clinton on Tuesday night (Sept. 27) with a mash-up video praising the former Sec. of State's strength. Pivoting off of Republican candidate Donald Trump's claims during Monday night's (Sept. 26) first presidential debate that his White House rival lacks the "stamina" to be an effective leader. While Clinton came back with a list of her extensive political wins as Sec. of State and her endless congressional testimony on Benghazi, Sia went to the tape by posting a 33-second video with the candidates' comments overlaid with her song "The Greatest," which features the lyrics "Uh-oh, running out of breath but I/ Oh, I, I got stamina/." As the "stamina" line repeats over and over, the video runs down Clinton's decades-long career in public life, showing her global travels, advocacy on behalf of women and children and meetings with heads of state and dignitaries. "As soon as he travels to 112 countries and negotiates a peace deal, a cease fire... he can talk to me about stamina," Clinton says in the video. The clip ends with the #ImWithHer hash and the lyric "I'm free to be the greatest here tonight." While preparing for her upcoming Dangerous Woman Tour and her role in NBC's Hairspray Live!, coming in December, is Ariana Grande also plotting a crossover -- to country? In Las Vegas for the iHeartRadio Festival over the weekend, Grande was asked about her next career move. "My grandpa, he always wanted me to do something in the country world. I don't know if that would ever happen. If that opportunity, when it comes along, I'd have to say, 'Hell yeah!'" she revealed to Elvis Duran for Entertainment Tonight. The 23-year-old pop star admitted she doesn't have extensive knowledge of the genre, outside of what she heard in the family car while she was growing up. "My dad was a really big Dixie Chicks fan," she shared, "so that's the most country I've been exposed to." Disney and Jon Favreau Are Remaking The Lion King. It's the circle of life, indeed. The Lion King is returning to theaters -- albeit, not the same one audiences fell in love with 22 years ago. The Walt Disney Company announced Wednesday that it has tapped Jon Favreau for a reimagining of its 1994 animated blockbuster. It's now on the "fast track to production." Favreau has yet to comment on the project. Key details, including a release date and casting news, have yet to be announced. In April, two "Untitled Disney Live Action" movies were put on the calendar: Aug. 3, 2018 and Dec. 25, 2018. The new Lion King will include songs from the original animated movie, the studio said. Favreau last directed Disney's The Jungle Book, which earned $965.8 million worldwide after its April debut. He is also developing a sequel to The Jungle Book, though the film's release date is TBD. The original film, directed by Roger Allers and Rob Minkoff, was the highest grossing animated film for 16 years until it was surpassed by Toy Story 3 in 2010. The film was re-released in 2011, where it got a 3D conversion. And with $30.2 million, it had one of the best sales debuts ever. Two decades later, The Lion King boasts a lifetime global box office gross of $968.8 million, including $422.8 million domestically. It won two Academy Awards and two Grammy Awards, and in 1997, a stage production made its Broadway debut, winning six Tony Awards. In recent years, Disney has released several remakes and live-action adaptations of its classic films, ranging from 2014's Maleficent to 2015's Cinderella. The upcoming Beauty and the Beast, starring Emma Watson as Belle and Dan Stevens as Beast, will be released in March 2017. Other remakes and reboots that are either in development or production include 101 Dalmatians, Dumbo, Mulan, Peter Pan, Pinocchio, The Sword in the Stone and Winnie the Pooh. The studio is also working on films involving characters from Aladdin, Cinderella, Snow White and the Seven Dwarfs and more beloved movies. (Eonline)

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them: New Trailer Reveals a Looming War Between No-Maj and the Wizarding World. We're less than two months away from Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, but to hold you over these next several weeks is a new trailer! Ellen DeGeneres debuted the new preview Wednesday morning, giving Harry Potter-turned-Fantastic Beasts fans a little magic to get through hump day. Although there have been previous trailers that have given Muggles No-Maj an inside look at some of the magical creatures escaping from main character's Newt Scamander case, this one gives viewers a better glimpse into the action that's to come. Based on new scenes included in this preview, it's clear that there's going to be a war. Colin Farrell's character is on the hunt for Newt's creatures, but with so many on the loose the No-Maj are starting to realize they're living among witches and wizards. But with war on the horizon, Farrell's Percival Graves isn't going to risk exposing his people. "I refuse to bow down," he says ominously in this extensive trailer. A preview released at Comic Con this past summer revealed the looming war between No-Majs and the magical creatures that continue to wreak havoc on New York City, with the eccentric magizoologist and his friends trying to recapture his beloved creatures before anyone (namely Graves) can cause harm to them. "Magical beasts are terrorizing No-Majs, and when No-Majs are afraid, they attack," says a haunting voice in the trailer. Redmayne's character later fires back, "They're on alien terrain, surrounded by the most vicious creatures on the planet -- humans." But while Newt might be fearful of the U.S. and its wizphobia, it's Redmayne who is really nervous about the launch of the franchise. "The stakes are high because [Harry Potter movies] were so good before," Redmayne told E! News last September. "You don't want to screw it up." Redmayne also shared details about the forthcoming trilogy with Entertainment Weekly earlier this year, giving fans a little bit of insight beyond what can be seen in the trailers. "There is a dark aspect to it; I think it's going to be surprising how moving it is," he said of the film's tone. And for fans wondering why author J.K. Rowling opted to set the movie in 1920s New York City, Redmayne revealed, "It feels like the world is on a precipice. Everyone's a bit nervous. There are things happening that make everyone uncomfortable, and people have a choice to make about which side they want to stand on." (Eonline)

Brad Pitt Releases Statement on Situation With Angelina Jolie and Family. Brad Pitt narrated the documentary Voyage of Time, but he won't be attending a screening for it. "Terrence [Malick]'s Voyage of Time is an incredibly beautiful and unique experiential IMAX film for children and families chronicling the birth of time. I'm very grateful to be part of such a fascinating and educational project, but I'm currently focused on my family situation and don't want to distract attention away from this extraordinary film, which I encourage everyone to see," Pitt tells E! News in a statement. News broke last Tuesday that he and Angelina Jolie would be splitting up after 12 years together (two of which were marriage), and since then the split has been contentious at best. E! News learned that Pitt hasn't seen his six children since Jolie filed for divorce, but is hoping that he and his estranged wife can work things out without media scrutiny. "He really wants to see the kids and to work out an arrangement that is best for them," an insider told us of Pitt's familial concerns. "[He] wants to work things out privately and amicably." Jolie requested for sole physical custody of Maddox, Pax, Zahara, Shiloh, and twins Knox and Vivienne, with Pitt receiving visitation rights. But after the legal documents were released E! News confirmed that the Department of Children and Family Services in Los Angeles County is conducting an inquiry into the allegations that Pitt was involved in an incident with a child aboard a private plane earlier this month. Meanwhile, reps for the actors have not commented on the reports regarding the incident on the plane, but a source close to the investigation told E! News he "takes the matter very seriously and says he did not commit any abuse of his children." Similarly, another insider noted that Pitt is "is cooperating fully." The source added, "He will continue to do what's in the best interest of the children... [He] is most concerned about his children and the best thing for them is to keep the situation private." The Girl on the Train: Luke Evans Gets Naked, Sings Show Tunes for Sex Scenes. Singing show tunes always lightens the mood, doesn't it? Just ask Luke Evans and Haley Bennett -- the two belted out Broadway songs when they shot their steamy naked sex scenes in The Girl on the Train. "When we were having sex, we were drunk -- boy and girl drunk," Evans told me while promoting the new thriller. "I thought we should have a little drink just to take the edge off." No, they weren't completely smashed! Evans said they just sipped on some Bourbon and Cokes. "We were tipsy," Evans said. "We were show-tunes-singing-drunk while having fake sex. We sang Lion King." Bennett did remember the singing, but her memories are a bit different. "It wasn't the Lion King!" she said. "He has a false recollection. It was his own movie. It was Beauty and the Beast. We were singing, 'I'm going to marry Belle.'" (Evans stars as Gaston in the upcoming live action adaptation of the hit Disney musical.) Whatever they sang, the scenes were still pretty naughty. "It's not easy," Evans admitted. "It's not a comfortable situation, but it also depends on the other person. Haley's a true professional. She threw herself into it, as did I. It's not a big deal and it is what it is and by the time we had to do it for a third time with a different setting, that was the steamiest one in the shower, you just get on with it. You suck it up." Bennett explained, "You do talk with your scene partner and you're like, 'OK, you're going to cover me here and my nudity rider says this...' It's very technical and boring." Hollywood is buzzing about who could next be running Paramount Pictures amid all the changes at its parent company, Viacom -- but the company insists it has full confidence in current chairman Brad Grey. Multiple sources tell Page Six that the gossip is that Paramount Pictures boss Grey could be vulnerable, following the ousting of Philippe Dauman as Viacom CEO. Names being whispered around town as future contenders for the role include former 20th Century Fox boss Jim Gianopulos, producers Brian Grazer and John Goldwyn, former Lionsgate co-chair Rob Friedman and Jeffrey Katzenberg. Plus, there have been several others actively jockeying for the job. The move comes after box-office flops including "Ben-Hur," "Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows" and "Zoolander 2." Paramount is also reportedly preparing for a loss ahead of the release of "Monster Trucks" in January. Paramount vice chairman Rob Moore was pushed out last week. A Hollywood insider told us, "Many people are reaching out to Shari Redstone and the board for the job. But Grey will stay on in the role. It is believed that without Philippe there, he will get a chance to use his creative juices and turn things around. Viacom first has to deal with the bigger picture, including who will take the top job and replace Tom Dooley [who last week announced he will be stepping down as interim CEO in November]." Insiders say Robert Bakish, head of Viacom's international business, is the current front-runner. Another Viacom insider added, "Everybody is looking to Brad to make Paramount the studio it can be. Every studio has its rough patches, and you just have to have confidence. We feel good about the films being released and a return to profitability." These movies include "Arrival," Brad Pitt's "Allied" and Denzel Washington's "Fences." Dooley told us on Tuesday, "There have been zero meetings [about the job], and we have confidence in Brad Grey running Paramount." Documentary filmmaker Michael Moore says he's not allowed to perform a one-man show about the presidential race at a central Ohio theater because officials there consider him too controversial. Moore says in a Facebook post that Newark's Midland Theatre "banned" him from presenting and filming the show there next month. He says the community board overseeing the theater recently voted not to allow the show. The Columbus Dispatch reports that Midland operators say Moore wasn't banned and that the decision not to finalize the contract was based on several factors. Those included a too-short time frame and questions about what the production involved. Moore says he will go ahead with his plans for the show at an undisclosed site in southern Ohio in October. AMC Entertainment Fights Antitrust Claims Secretly Valued at Hundreds of Millions of Dollars. The exhibition giant says it is really fighting "nine different cases in one" and that a proposed injunction would "materially impact AMC's business throughout the United States." Cobb Theaters is hoping to score a nine-figure damage verdict against exhibition giant AMC Entertainment in an antitrust lawsuit. The Georgia-based movie theater chain's demand became public in a filing last week, though Cobb is now asking a judge to keep it hush-hush. The lawsuit was filed in Georgia in 2014 and alleges that AMC has used its worldwide market power to coerce film distributors to deprive competitors of access to studio films. Cobb, an independent exhibitor which owns nearly two dozen theaters in the Southeast region, has reported its CineBistro outlets have missed out on hit films like The Amazing Spider-Man, This Is the End and Zero Dark Thirty. In March 2015, a judge rejected AMC's motion to dismiss. Now, AMC will again ask U.S. District Court Judge Eleanor Ross to find in its favor and avoid a trial it says could last months. In preparation, the defendant asked permission to file summary judgment motions bulkier than usual. Although some studios like 20th Century Fox say they will no longer honor so-called "clearance pacts" that assign geographic exclusivity on hit films, and notwithstanding the fact that other large exhibitors like Regal have come to settlements that give off the appearance that the controversy is fading from the spotlight, AMC told the judge about the huge stakes. "By its Complaint, Cobb seeks trebled damages of hundreds of millions of dollars," stated AMC's court papers. "Cobb further seeks punitive damages for its tortious interference claims, as well as a permanent injunction that, if granted, would materially impact AMC's business throughout the United States." Later in its brief, AMC says an injunction "would fundamentally alter the way in which AMC's industry works." (The company doesn't appear to have yet alerted its shareholders to the possibility.) AMC will fully argue its position in its coming summary judgment motion, but its advance papers signal a pretty complicated case. "Discovery revealed that Cobb's lawsuit is actually nine different cases in one," AMC's motion to exceed page limits stated. "First, Cobb alleges that AMC has violated the antitrust laws by licensing films at its Phipps and Fork & Screen theatres in Buckhead pursuant to unreasonable 'clearances' and unlawful 'circuit deals' that effectively precluded Cobb's Brookhaven theatre from licensing first-run films Second, Cobb alleges that AMC has interfered with Cobb's ability to open eight other hypothetical theatres around the country, thereby wholly preventing Cobb from entering those separate markets." AMC is primed to contend that Cobb's failure to properly define geographic markets dooms the "circuit dealing" claim. Additionally, AMC will attempt to show that Cobb doesn't have "congnizable business relationships" with landlords to support a claim that AMC has interfered with a plan to open more theaters. After Ross granted AMC's request to file two 35-page briefs, Cobb came forward to complain that the hundreds of millions of dollars it is seeking was a secret. "Cobb disclosed to AMC the total damages it is seeking in this lawsuit in the expert reports of its expert economist, Roy Weinstein," stated the plaintiff in a motion for sealing filed on Tuesday. "Cobb designated the total damages Confidential because it would otherwise be possible to back into the approximate profitability of Cobb's theaters. This is because Mr. Weinstein uses a benchmark or yardstick approach to damages, under which he calculates the profits Cobb would have earned but for AMC's conduct based on the profitability of actual Cobb theaters currently in operation." As of Wednesday morning, the judge hasn't yet ruled on whether "hundreds of millions of dollars" and "nine-figure damages claims" should have to be redacted. (Hollywood Reporter)

Eazy-E's Widow Launches Production Company. The newly formed Ruthless Entertainment has signed with Circle of Confusion. A year after successfully producing Universal's Straight Outta Compton, Eazy-E's widow Tomica Woods-Wright has launched production company Ruthless Entertainment, The Hollywood Reporter has exclusively learned. The new shingle has signed with management/production company Circle of Confusion, and the two firms are developing several projects, including drama series Ruthless, loosely inspired by the life of the N.W.A. co-founder, ne Eric Wright; animated half-hour adult comedy Eazy Duz It and documentary feature The Hip Hop Thugsta: Eazy-E. Woods-Wright has run Ruthless Records, the label founded by Eazy-E in 1987, since the rapper's death from AIDS-related complications in 1995. "We couldn't be more excited to help Ruthless Entertainment achieve the same success in TV, film and digital that Tomica has with Ruthless Records in music," Circle partner David Engel, an executive producer on Straight Outta Compton, said in a statement. "Ruthless is a global brand started by Eazy-E, and Tomica has captained it for the last 20 years and has grown it into a multimillion-dollar business." Ruthless Entertainment also will be represented by attorneys David Byrnes and Ben Rubinfeld at Ziffren Brittenham. In addition to producing AMC's The Walking Dead and spinoff Fear the Walking Dead, Circle of Confusion also produces Cinemax's Outcast and BBC America's upcoming Dirk Gently's Holistic Detective Agency, which will debut on Oct. 22. 'Girl on the Train' Author Shoots Down 'Gone Girl' Comparisons. Paula Hawkins' and Gillian Flynn's books (and films) share a zeitgeisty focus on the "unlikable" woman and a dark view of suburbia, as Universal hopes its take on the formula matches the success of the Fox hit. Yes, they both have the world "girl" in the title, so naturally, comparisons will be drawn. And the two monster best-sellers -- Paula Hawkins' The Girl on the Train and Gillian Flynn's Gone Girl -- share more than just their eponymous protagonists. Both Train's Rachel Watson and Gone's Amy Dunne are unlikable, unreliable narrators, and both novels explore the theme of evil lurking in manicured suburbia. Hawkins and Flynn each use a missing woman and a suspect husband to drive the plot forward -- main characters in Gone, side characters in Train. And both books rely on a tough-as-nails female detective (Kim Dickens in Gone, Allison Janney in Train) to get to the bottom of their equally dark and complicated mysteries. For Hawkins, the similarities may run wide, but they aren't very deep. "Amy Dunne is a psychopath, an incredibly controlling and manipulative, smart, cunning woman -- and Rachel's just a mess who can't do anything right," she says. "Amy is deliberately unreliable, while Rachel is accidentally unreliable because she got so pissed drunk." Still, other parallels can be drawn. Both books spawned R-rated movies with October releases, Fox's Gone Girl earning $369 million worldwide during its 2014 run and an Oscar nomination for its lead actress, Rosamund Pike -- with Universal very much aiming to match the earlier film's success in both the commercial and critical realms (and with Blunt, who has been nominated for Golden Globe and BAFTA awards for her work in such films as Into the Woods and The Devil Wears Prada, hoping to score her first Academy recognition). One link Hawkins dismisses out of hand is the suggestion that she somehow was latching on to Gone's success when coming up with her own novel's title. "I do bristle at people saying, 'Oh, you slap "girl" on the front cover of the book and you have a best-seller,' and I just think, 'No, it doesn't really work that way, I'm afraid.' The Girl on the Train was a working title that never got changed, and it's a good title. I know it should be 'The Woman on the Train,' but it didn't scan." Hawkins, whose novel currently is outpacing Flynn's at the same point in its publication run (though the Train tie-in edition is benefiting from a seven-month shorter book-to-movie window) hastens to add that she's a big fan of Gone Girl, both the book and the film. "The comparisons have done me no harm," she says with a laugh. "But I don't actually think they're very similar books." (Hollywood Reporter)

Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life Finds Luke and Lorelai Figuring Out Their Next Move (With Lots of Fireworks). In a matter of months, viewers will return to Stars Hollow for Gilmore Girls: A Year in the Life. To say excitement is palpable is an understatement. But Scott Patterson, coffee king Luke Danes, isn't feeling the pressure. "No pressure at all," he said at Entertainment Weekly's pre-Emmys party. "Why would I feel pressure? I already shot it, it's in the can." Patterson's Luke was last seen in season seven of Gilmore Girls finally reuniting with Lorelai (Lauren Graham). He teased fans can expect fireworks and surprises when the four 90-minute installments hit Netflix in November. And yes, his relationship with Lorelai has changed since viewers last saw them together in 2007. "What I can tell you is that we are together and we are figuring out our next move. There are definitely some fireworks there. We did some really intense adult scenes. Since the movies are only an hour and a half long it has way more detail and the writing is deeper and seems longer so it sort of changed," Patterson said. "Fans are not expecting this, but it's more a film now than it is a TV show. Also, Ed Herrmann passed away so we deal with that and that affects the whole dynamic. It affects all of the relationships." Those fireworks he keeps mentioning? It all stems from Luke and Lorelai's years of sexual tension. "There has been sexual tension for a long time. We are together, and I mean we don't arm wrestle at night," he said with a laugh. "It will be addressed again, and again, and again and then we have coffee... I'm going to get in so much trouble for this!" Miranda will host the Saturday, Oct. 8 episode of SNL with musical guest Twenty One Pilots. Both will be making their Studio 8H debut. Margot Robbie is hosting the season 42 premiere with musical guest The Weeknd. The Internet's boyfriend, Miranda recently took home a boatload of Tonys for Hamilton. He recently completed his run in the musical. At the 2016 Tony Awards he took home an award for Best Book of a Musical, Best Original Score and Best Musical. He's also won Tonys for In the Heights. Up next? The sequel to Mary Poppins, Mary Poppins Returns, and producing and scoring Disney's upcoming The Little Mermaid live-action flick with Alan Menken. He's also written songs for Star Wars: The Force Awakens and Disney's Moana. Twenty One Pilots, which is duo Tyler Joseph and Josh Dun, recently had two singles in in the top five of the Billboard Hot 100 chart. Saturday Night Live will return for season 42 with some new faces. How This Is Us' Makeup Artist Aged Mandy Moore by 30 Years. The big reveal at the end of This Is Us was shocking enough, but the show saved a pretty huge surprise for the end of its second episode, too. In the closing moments of "The Big Three," the doorbell rang at Randall's house and his mom was on the other side. His mom, a.k.a. Rebecca, a.k.a. 32-year-old actress Mandy Moore, who is younger than the actors who play her children. Would it be Moore at the door or another actress? Just before the credits rolled, we saw that it was, in fact, Moore -- in some stellar age makeup to bring her from a glamorous thirtysomething to a just-as-glamorous sixtysomething. We needed to know everything about the process of aging someone 30 years, so we called up the show's makeup artist Zoe Hays to explain the sorcery that goes on behind the scenes. "I think old age makeup is the hardest thing to do convincingly. It can go awry very quickly. My apprehension is we have this beautiful woman, Mandy, who is in hear early 30s and you want me to make her how old? And convincingly? And in talking with the producers and the show creator, Dan Fogelman, our concern was always that we know instantly who she is -- there's never any doubt of that -- but also that she look elegant and beautiful and graceful and all of those things as well," Hays told us. So instead of focusing on just trying to age a beautiful actress to twice her age, she and her team tried to create a look that would reflect what the character would look like 30 years later. "I think it's very easy to go 'Oh, we're going to stick a gray wig on and grey eyebrow, and make her look old,' but that really is not who she would be as she aged," Hays explained. Instead, she wanted Rebecca to "look like a really gorgeous woman who had taken very good care of herself. I think of Helen Mirren, how stunning she looks. She is a sexy, mature woman and there's never any doubt that she exudes that and I wanted to bring some of that to this makeup." The actual look is created using 12 small prosthetics, then applying an aging makup using a "stretch and stipple" technique where the skin is stretched, the makeup goes on and dries, and then when the skin goes back to its normal position it wrinkles up a bit. It took several different tries until the look came close, but it took a lot of work -- even for Moore, who had to sit there for hours while the makeup artists did their magic. "It was particularly challenging and we did a number of tests," Hays revealed, "which was hard for Mandy because each of the tests are three, four, five hours long by the time we get her hair done and everything. But I think it really came together as a true collaboration." And the small prosthetics were helpful for Moore, who could still show a full range of emotion in her face. "The last couple of tests when we were getting pretty close I think she was pretty happy because the small pieces allowed her to really move her face and not be restricted," Hays said. Don't worry: there were no freakouts when Moore looked in the mirror and saw a much older version of herself. "Some people get very upset, they're like, 'Oh my god, this is what I am going to look like,' but she never did," Hays said. "She wanted what was right for Rebecca." In the end, it seems like a success on all accounts. "All we wanted to do was bring that for her so she could look in the mirror and feel that this is Rebecca in her mid-60s and she looks great and she is beautiful," Hays said. Dancing with the Stars Week 3: Who Went Home? Why must you do this to us, Dancing with the Stars? All we wanted was to see some musical performances and find out who went home, and instead, yet again, we were subjected to an hour of behind-the-scenes recap before we got to the results. Do we really not dedicate enough of our time to you, DWTS? We're a little insulted, to be honest. Anyway, eventually, at the last second, we did get some results, and Rick Perry and Emma Slater were sent home. Perry was up against Amber Rose and Terra Jole in the bottom three, but his exit is no surprise given the fact that he's been pulling in the lowest scores each week so far. The former Texas governor and presidential candidate faced off against Vanilla Ice in Monday night's head-to-head paso doble competition, and Vanilla only won thanks to Len's tie breaking decision. They both managed scores of 23 out of 40 for their performances. Next week, thankfully, the results show is only an hour, so we'll have a lot less filler to sit through...in theory. Two familiar faces will be absent from Dancing with the Stars in week 4. On Tuesday night's results show, host Tom Bergeron revealed to audiences that Len Goodman will miss a few weeks of the ABC reality dancing competition series to fulfill his commitments as head judge on Britain's Strictly Come Dancing. But although Goodman, 72, will be M.I.A. for the following weeks, he assured both the dancers and viewers that he will "be well-informed of what's going on." "It's difficult to fly every week there and back," Goodman explained. "I'm going to miss it because I've enjoyed so much watching the progression. But I'm going to be well-informed of what's going on. Make sure that-it's a ballroom dancing competition, it's not all about razzle dazzle. Show us some proper ballroom dancing." "The amazing Len Goodman who will come back in a few weeks," Bergeron said of the British judge after the dancing troupe performed a number in his honor. At the wrap of the episode, Bergeron announced that Amber Rose and Terra Jole were safe from elimination, and that Rick Perry would not be proceeding in the competition. "My daughter's getting married the 15th of October, but I can promise you I will look good on the dance floor for her," Perry, 66, said after being eliminated. "And I'm doing it for all the veterans out there and I hope everybody will find a great veteran's cause to go help these guys. Is Jason O'Mara's Mystery Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Director This Marvel Comics Character? Warning: The following contains spoilers from Tuesday night's new episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. If you haven't watched yet, you may want to bookmark this page and return once you have. Proceed with caution. Well, we've finally met Jason O'Mara's character on Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. We still don't know exactly who he is, per se, but we've met him. His full identity, and how he fits into the Marvel lore dating back to the 1940s as advertised, continues to remain a mystery, but our first hour spent in the presence of S.H.I.E.L.D.'s new director did offer up a handful of clues as to which Marvel Comics character he may be -- and we think we've got it figured out. But before we get to our hypotheses, let's break down what we know. As mentioned, when O'Mara was first cast in the role this summer, the announcement teased that the character was one "whose Marvel roots go back to the 1940s." Fun fact: Marvel Comics wasn't actually know as such until 1961, so we're really talking about a Timely Publications character. Just saying. When Coulson (Clark Gregg) and May (Ming-Na Wen) finally had their meeting with the director after he rudely kept them waiting for two hours, we got our first clue of the evening as to his identity: His first name is Jeffrey. As he trotted Coulson out like a prized pony full of S.H.I.E.L.D. knowledge to woo members of the House Appropriations committee whose budgets the agency now relies on as they've been legitimized and are on the eve of going public, it seemed like we might not learn too much more about him. Until May went crazy, that is. Once her ghost affliction kicked into high gear and she went ballistic on Coulson and her entire tactical team, Jeffrey arrived to put a stop to things. As she wailed on him to little effect, it became clear that Jeffrey was no mere human. Superhuman strength? Check. Impenetrability? Possibly. And in his final scene with Coulson, we learned just a little bit more about the guy. We learned that Coulson stepped down (!!) and suggested that a powered person who the public could trust ought to be the new director. "And now that Steve Rogers went AWOL, you wanted a hero," Jeffrey said. Pay attention to the Captain America reference. It's probably important. So, who is this guy? Well, after our exhaustive research of Timely Comics character, we've narrowed it down to two. First up is Captain Wonder, a.k.a. Professor Jeff Jordan. First appearing in Kid Komics #1 in February, 1943, Captain Wonder was a superhero with superhuman strength. As a professor, he developed a miracle drug in his lab that gave the user the strength of 12 men. After accidentally being exposed to it and gaining the strength himself, he decided to fight crime and the Nazis. The other character O'Mara might be portraying is the Patriot, a.k.a. Jeffrey Soloman Mace. First appearing in The Human Torch #4 in Spring of 1941, the Patriot had no superpowers, but was superb at hand-to-hand combat. After seeing how Jeffrey handled May (and his admission that he is an Inhuman), we'd consider ruling this guy out, if only it weren't for this next fact. Not only was Jeffrey Mace known as the Patriot, but in 1976, Marvel retroactively made him the third Captain America, revealing that he'd succeeded both Steve Rogers and William Naslund and carried the infamous shield for a spell. And the First Show to Get a Full-Season Pickup Is... And the first show of the 2016-17 TV season to get a full-season pickup is... not a surprise whatsoever! This Is Us, a.k.a. NBC's tear-jerking new drama that debuted to huge numbers last week, has scored an additional five-episode order to bring the hit series' first season to a total of 18 episodes. It's both a no-brainer for NBC, considering the series had millions of viewers watching its trailer before 14.3 million people tuned in to the series premiere, and an early call, considering the fact that many of the season's new shows haven't even debuted yet. "It's a rare moment in this business when a show so instantly delivers both critical acclaim and hit ratings, but This Is Us is just such an extraordinary achievement," NBC Entertainment President Jennifer Salke said in a press release announcing the news. "Creator Dan Fogelman, along with co-directors Glenn Ficarra and John Requa and the gifted producers, cast and crew, has delivered the kind of heart and depth that resonates with every segment of the audience, and we're proud to extend its presence on our schedule." Said Fogelman, "We are thrilled. This order for a complete first season of 18 episodes is exactly what we'd wanted and hoped for. We'd carefully mapped out an 18-chapter story for the first year of the show, and this allows us to follow through with our exact initial intent. And to get the order so early on is a tremendous show of confidence and a boost for our entire cast and crew. I'm starting to sound like a broken record but I have to thank Dana, Gary, Jonnie, Howard and my amazing partners at 20th as well as Bob and Jen and the fine folks at NBC for continuing to do absolutely everything right by me and this show. 'The Mindy Project' Heads to VH1, Freeform in Syndication Deal. The Universal Television-produced Hulu comedy will begin airing on both networks in October. The Mindy Project has been sold in syndication. Viacom-owned VH1 and Disney-owned Freeform have landed Hulu's Mindy Kaling comedy, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. Under the pact, both networks have scored rights to the first four seasons -- the first three of which aired on Fox before moving to Hulu. VH1 and Freeform will begin airing repeats starting at a date to be determined in October. Hulu will retain in-season stacking rights to the multicamera comedy with VH1 and Freeform set to land those episodes a year after they debut. Episodes from the first four seasons will also be available on VH1 and Freeform's respective apps. "We are pleased that VH1 and Freeform recognize the value of The Mindy Project for their viewers," said Frances Manfredi, NBCUniversal Television and New Media Distribution president. "VH1 and Freeform are great partners and The Mindy Project will be a great addition to their strong programming." Helping to move the syndication sale up was Hulu's supersized season four order of 26 episodes -- higher than the tally for its first three runs. The order helped move the series into closer range for syndication deals, with the series having now produced 93 episodes. Season five, its second on Hulu, premieres Oct. 4 on Hulu with the comedy co-starring Chris Messina and Ed Weeks set to celebrate its 100th episode this season. "I'm happy to have closed this deal on behalf of VH1 which has recently enjoyed five consecutive quarters of growth," said Barbara Zaneri, exec vp Viacom Program Acquisitions Group. "Mindy fits right into the network's plan to bring premiere programming to VH1's audience as it continues to broaden its brand." Added Freeform president Tom Ascheim: "Freeform rebranded nine months ago and continues to grow as a place for young adult entertainment. Part of this growth is our increase in providing incredible quality content and The Mindy Project is a perfect addition. Mindy is a blend of energy and possibility, she is the voice of our audience. Why 'Black-ish' Was the First Thing Daveed Diggs Wanted to Do After 'Hamilton'. "It does this really important thing which is sort of normalize the different expressions of blackness," the Tony-winning theater star tells THR. Two months after leaving the Broadway smash Hamilton that earned him a Tony Award, Daveed Diggs is ready to cause agenda for Anthony Anderson's Dre on ABC's Black-ish. "I just try to keep my eyes open and hold on," Diggs tells The Hollywood Reporter of playing opposite the Emmy nominee and comedic veteran. "You never really know what he's going to do." Diggs, who played the dual roles of Thomas Jefferson and Marquis de Lafayette in Lin-Manuel Miranda's cultural phenomenon, begins his run as Johan, the brother of Tracee Ellis Ross' Bow on Wednesday in an arc that will span "at least" six episodes. Johan moves into the Johnson household to help with Bow's pregnancy, and immediately begins to clash with Dre. "He's an interesting foil to Dre, because he's not as young as his kids, but he's still of a generation where he hasn't had the same black experience as Dre," Diggs SAID. "He's a lot less jaded; there's fewer differences for Johan between black culture and mainstream American culture." One example: "He's really into fancy coffee." Diggs explains that Johan sees himself as more of a child of the world rather than as just a black man in America. "He doesn't really see himself as an outsider. He sees himself as a natural consumer. ... That's where he and Dre sort of bump heads. He doesn't feel at odds with mainstream American culture, whereas Dre is always going to feel that way." That chance to play a black character that had a culturally different upbringing compared to someone like Dre is what made him jump at chance to be on a show he's been a fan of since Day 1. "[Black-ish] was one of the first things that came out of my mouth," he said of finally being able to chart out his next career avenue. "It does this really important thing which is sort of normalize the different expressions of blackness." With Black-ish, Fresh Off the Boat and freshman comedy Speechless, ABC boasts one of the most inclusive comedy slates on television. However, Diggs cautions that true inclusion is treating characters of ethnic backgrounds the same way as their white counterparts. "What I'm looking for is not really the strangeness of blackness being on display, I'm looking for the reality of the situation, which is that we're all different," he said. "We're very used to seeing a huge diversity of white people. You never just expect two white people on TV to feel the same way." Diggs adds that, other than prior sitcoms that featured predominantly African-American casts, Black-ish "doesn't paint all of the characters as having the same set of values. It allows there to be a huge amount of diversity in African-American culture. ... I hadn't really seen that expressed so well in a sitcom before." Trading in the stage at The Richard Rogers Theater, where Hamilton still runs with an almost entirely new cast now, for the ABC's show set in California was an adjustment for Diggs. Going from the "intense, sustained energy for three and a half hours straight" to one where there's a lot of standing around and waiting for your cues. "It's really about how you manage your energy," he said. "TV is really about keeping things fresh and making sure you have the most energy possible for these very short spurts of time." Diggs added that he may spend 12 hours on set, he's only in front of the camera for two of them. "How you manage to always feel alive and present when you're back and forth, you're in and out of a scene, you're shooting out of order, you're doing things that are very different than the linear storytelling that you do in a play," he said. "I'm just trying to learn as much as I can from [the cast] and hope I do anything to ruin any takes where they just totally off-the-cuff do something amazing. It happens all the time. There's so much spontaneous incredible things that happen." Diggs is diving head first into the on-camera world. Aside from Black-ish, Diggs will star alongside Andy Samberg in his HBO sports doping mockumentary Tour de Pharmacy; he also will make his big-screen debut next year in Stephen Chobsky's adaptation of R J. Palacio's novel Wonder, with Julia Roberts, Owen Wilson and Jacob Tremblay. "I was just excited about getting on to other things and trying out all of things that I don't know anything about: Figuring out what it's like to be on a TV show or working on a film, be in a pitch meeting. Every day is a new master class for me." Though he's forever grateful for his time with Hamilton, he doesn't have any regrets about leaving the role that turned him into a household name. "That show should have the most excited people in it. And I still loved doing it every night but I was also starting to get really excited about the potential of doing other things," he said. "I had said all of the things I had to say with those roles. ... Part of my decision was about: well it's important for the success of the show, and a show that meant so much to me, for somebody else to come in here and answer the question differently." That, however, doesn't mean he's done with theater for good. "I'm not opposed to it," he said about any potential return to the stage. "I'm also not really looking for it. I think it would have to be a very special project, because of the open ended commitment of it. If the right thing came along, of course I'd be excited about it.
