On this date in 1066, William The Conqueror invades England to claim the English throne. But you already know by his name how the invasion went. Otherwise he would be known as William the Almost Pulled It Off.

In 1850, flogging was abolished as an official form of punishment in the U.S. Navy.
Some day, I hope our company will adopt that standard.
As our boss reminds us often, this isn't the Navy.
How many years have we been asking for that ban? Every time we ask, they flog us!
That was the inspiration for the old cliche, "If you can't beat 'em, don't!"
