OTHER STUFF......

I got a lot of notices that this week was "Giving Tuesday." I don't mean to come off the wrong way, but "Taking Tuesday" has a nicer ring to it. I wonder who came up with the word Xenophobia. Must have been a foreigner... A survey says Americans will spend an average of $752 on Christmas gifts this year. Slightly less for those who are just re-wrapping what they gave dad last year. Researchers say that ants were farming 3-million years before humans were on the Earth. The most famous ant farmer? Ant Em, of course. From Facebook: I hate it when I gain 10-pounds for a role and then realize I'm not an actor.

DID YOU KNOW?

Nearly 15% of employees say working for a younger boss makes them uncomfortable at work. The majority of adults remember their first car, more than their first kiss. About one in every three wives' wish their husbands would hold their hand. According to an American Psychological Association study titled Stress in America , more than 50% of Millennials report to having been kept awake at least one night over the course of the past month due to stress. This is comparable to only 37% of Baby Boomers and 25% of Matures. Men are 75% more likely to get mad, or angry, while watching sports, than women.

TODAY'S IMPOSSIBLE QUESTION

Pharmacists say this is the question they get asked most often. What? Can I drink alcohol with this medication?

THINGS YOU NEED TO KNOW

We keep hearing reports that Apple is going to unveil a curved iPhone next year. A chartered plane carrying a Brazilian first division soccer team crashed outside Medellin while on its way to the finals of a regional tournament, killing 76 people. Lionel Messi and the Argentina national soccer team flew on the exact same plane just 20 days ago to travel to a match in Brazil. Kanye West remains in the hospital, reportedly still not well enough to go home. Emma Morano, the last person alive born in the 1800s, celebrated her 117th birthday this week. By the way, she says she doesn't eat any fruit or vegetables. The NFL may have stretched too far. With ratings on the decline, now there's talk of scrapping Thursday night football. After a couple of years of dating, Gerard Butler has ended things with model Morgan Brown. Russia is developing a mega-rocket that will be used to transport supplies and build a base on the moon. House Democrats will hold a secret ballot vote today

TODAY IS

Final day of November, folks! Big Bang's Kaley Cuoco turns 31 and her hair has grown back. The girl knows how to party. Elisha Cuthbert -- better known as Jack Bauer's daughter, Kim in "24" -- turn 34 today. Or did she star on "34" and it's the other way around? No matter. Almost American Idol Clay Aiken turns 38 today. Yes, he has an Aiken heart. He was the first American Idol contestant to "come out," paving the way for Adam Lambert... as if Adam needed any paving. Sandra Oh turns 46 today. Still don't know what the Oh stands for... In the midnight hour, Billy Idol turns 61. He's begun that long journey of going from white hair to gray. Perpetual Youth Day or the late Dick Clark 's birthday -- Small changes in the way you live will improve your looks. Being beautiful isn't all about makeup, hair dye, and the right clothes. It's also about good health. The healthier you are, the better you will look. C

ON THIS DAY

Author Jonathan Swift was born on this date in 1667. He had success with the book, "Gulliver's Travels" and thanked all the little people who made it possible. On this date in 1782, the American Revolutionary War ended... and the first series of Time-Life books was born. In 1804, the first U.S. Supreme Court Justice to be impeached, Samuel Chase, went on trial. He was acquitted, but because of his questionable behavior, they named a bank after him. He was acquitted and went on to lead a Chase and decent life. He was acquitted so I guess that makes me feel better about my money being in his bank. When you think about it, that kind of explains where we are today. Good day for authors: Samuel Clements, alias "Mark Twain," was born on this date in 1835. He kept writing one great book after the other: "Tom Sawyer," "Huckleberry Finn," "The Prince and the Pauper"... readers all across America couldn't wait to catch the next Twain. On

TEN OLD-FASHIONED WAYS TO SAY 'SEX'

While we refer to sex as anything from "hooking up" to "hanky panky," people throughout history have had their own special phrases. By consulting the "1811 Dictionary of the Vulgar Tongue," MentalFloss.com has found several euphemisms for sex that were often said in 19th-century England--even among the conservative and highly polite upper crust. Top 10 old-fashioned ways to talk about sex: 1. Amorous congress This is the most polite way to say that a couple is having sex. 2. Bread and butter One on top of the other. 3. Brush A brief, meaningless fling. 4. Convivial society Similar to "amorous congress" and used primarily by upper class society. 5. Face-making This comes from "making children"--because babies have faces. 6. Green gown Giving a girl a green gown can only happen in the grass. 7. Pully hawly A game at pully hawly is a series of affairs. 8. A stitch Similar to having a brush, "a stitch" is a casual affair. 9. Take

WHAT YOUR WORK SPACE SAYS ABOUT YOU

Whether it's just an area for paying bills or the center of a home business, your work area speaks volumes about who you really are. "The items on your desk or dining room table are a dead giveaway to your personality," says Chicago psychologist Miriam Fox. "Every object tells a story about you." Memorabilia The collectibles you've gathered reveal the loving relationships in your life. Your keepsakes make you seem more approachable, and people naturally turn to you for advice and comfort. You are a compassionate person who can be a loyal confidante without passing judgment or jumping to conclusions. Uncluttered Everything is tucked away in its place and you are focused on the task at hand. The clean surface also indicates you're a person with traditional values with enduring beliefs. But if the uncluttered top hides messy desk drawers, it proves you appreciate order even when you're unable to maintain it. Plants Your green thumb denotes you're a

HAVE YOU GIVEN YOUR CAR A NICKNAME?

25 percent of us have given our vehicles a special name, according to an online survey by Nationwide Insurance of 1,082 car owners. "U.S. consumers have an emotional connection to their cars. The memories car owners experience with their automobiles are very special to them," said Matt Jauchius, Nationwide's chief marketing officer. "Discovering the number of people who nickname their cars is a true demonstration of this connection." Want more? 36 percent of young adults, ages 18 to 34, have a nickname for their car, far more than any other age group. 31 percent were inspired to give their car a nickname based on its color and appearance. 27 percent of women and 17 percent of men have a nickname for their vehicle. 26 percent think of their car as a female. Men are more likely than women to name their car after a famous/historical person (9 percent men vs. 4 percent women) or character in a movie (10 percent men vs. 4 percent women).

INFORMATION PORN

"Balls to the wall is an aviation term," meaning that the throttle (ball) is pushed all the way forward to the instrument panel (wall). The traditional way to eat sushi is not with chopsticks. You are supposed to use your hands. Leonardo DaVinci would often purchase animals he saw in cages so that he could set them free. Katy Perry's dad used to manufacture and sell LSD with Timothy Leary, and her mom dated Jimi Hendrix.

EVENTS A WOMAN SHOULD NEVER AVOID

Cosmopolitan offers us seven events a woman should never sidestep: Not filing your taxes Forget trying to pull a fast one on Uncle Sam. Blowing a date off without warning In this age of cell phones, beepers and e-mail, there's no excuse for standing him up. Breaking a promise to your boss Never say the words "I do" to the head honcho and fizzle on your follow-through. Bailing on a friend in crisis No one wants to play therapist 24 hours a day, but if your pal is in genuine pain, the least you can do is lend an ear. Not sending a condolence card It only takes three seconds to extend your sympathy when a friend loses a loved one. Copping out on the break-up talk If you've been dating for more than a couple of months the least he deserves is the "it's not you, it's me" conversation. Avoiding questions about your sexual history If you plan to get hot-and-heavy with a new man, he deserves to know if you have a clean bill of health. Of course, all of these
