Holiday lights festival in Florence to bring travel delays on SR 79 this weekend

Motorists traveling on State Route 79 near Price Road in Florence should plan for extra travel time Friday, Dec. 2, andSaturday, Dec. 3, because of heavy traffic bound for The Lights Festival at Country Thunder.

Law enforcement officers will be on hand to keep traffic moving, but delays can be expected throughout the two days with as many as 8,000 people expected to attend the holiday event. The event hours are 4:30 p.m. until 10 p.m. Friday, and from3:30 p.m. until 9 p.m. Saturday.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway closures and restrictions statewide, visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow us on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.

For more information about this project, please call Paki Rico, ADOT Senior Community Relations Officer, at 1.520.388.4233or email at prico@azdot.gov.
