Night work on I-19 bridges over the Santa Cruz River scheduled next two weeks

The Arizona Department of Transportation is resurfacing the decks of the Interstate 19 bridges over the Santa Cruz River south of Tucson the next two weeks.

The work requires overnight travel restrictions at the bridges (between milepost 57/kilometer post 94 and milepost 58/kilometer post 96) nightly throughout this week and the following week.

Crews will resurface the southbound I-19 bridge over the Santa Cruz River nightly through Friday, Dec. 2. The work will require alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following morning.

Work on the northbound I-19 bridge over the Santa Cruz River will be done nightly Sunday, Dec. 4, through Friday, Dec. 9.  All travel lanes will be open for the weekend starting at 6 a.m. Saturdays.

Crews will return later in December to re-stripe the bridges.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
