Ajo Way to be narrowed to one westbound lane at Kinney Road starting Feb. 1

Westbound Ajo Way (State Route 86) will be narrowed to one lane east of the intersection with Kinney Road beginningWednesday, Feb. 1, to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to work on improvements north of the highway. The restriction will remain in effect until further notice.

The lane restriction, in place at approximately milepost 166, is necessary to create a safe work zone as crews continue to widen Ajo Way (State Route 86) between Valencia and Kinney roads.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors.
