Yuma drivers who use the intersection of Highway 95 and Avenue 3E should allow extra travel time as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues a widening and improvement project. Beginning this week and continuing throughFeb. 1, crews are installing a 48-inch, reinforced-concrete irrigation pipe on the north side of Highway 95. Drivers should be aware of the following restrictions:

The intersection is open for through traffic; however, no left turns are permitted at Highway 95 (left and right turns onto Highway 95 from northbound Avenue 3E are permitted).
The north section of Avenue 3E at the intersection is closed to traffic.

Drivers are encouraged to seek alternate routes. The $3.2 million project aims to reduce congestion and improve the surfaces of both roadways. Work began in November 2016 and is scheduled for completion in August.

Also in Yuma:

Crews continue constructing dikes to prevent flooding in Fortuna Wash at Highway 95 between Fortuna and Aberdeen roads. To protect the safety of drivers and work crews, a reduced speed limit of 35 mph is in place for approximately two weeks, through Feb. 6. When construction of flood prevention embankments is complete, work will shift to the south side, where the widened roadway will be constructed and paved. This phase of the project is expected to last approximately five weeks.
ADOT has completed work at 32nd Street from Avenue 3E to Avenue 8 ½ E.
