REMINDER: Bridge work scheduled on US 60 at New River bridge in Peoria

Westbound lanes closed Friday, Feb. 10, to Sunday, Feb. 12

The westbound lanes of US 60 (Grand Avenue) over the New River bridge in Peoria will be closed from 8 p.m. Friday, Feb. 10, to 2 p.m. Sunday, Feb. 12, weather permitting. The closure is required for work in conjunction with a $157,000 bridge rehabilitation project.

T
he project includes replacement of existing expansion joints, which allow movement on the bridge, and repairs to the abutments on the west end. The work is scheduled for completion in March.

Drivers traveling on northbound Loop 101 (Agua Fria Freeway) who wish to go west on US 60 are advised to exit at Peoria Avenue, go west to 99th Avenue and then head north to US 60. Southbound drivers are advised to exit at Thunderbird Road, go west to 99th Avenue and then head south to US 60. A well-marked detour will be in place during work hours, and drivers are encouraged to allow extra travel time.

During construction, lane closures, detours and minimal delays are possible. Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
