Striping work on I-19 at Ajo Way to require overnight travel restrictions Wednesday, Thursday

Motorists traveling north on Interstate 19 at the Ajo Way traffic interchange will encounter restrictions overnightWednesday, Feb. 22, and Thursday, Feb. 23, while the Arizona Department of Transportation works to refresh striping on the interstate.

Northbound I-19 will be restricted to one lane both nights from 9 p.m. until 5 a.m. the following morning. Motorists should plan for brief delays during this work.

The work is part of a $40 million project to replace the existing traffic interchange on Tucson’s southwest side.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors.
