Paving continues overnight on Interstate 17 between New River and Black Canyon City Crews will work on on-and-off-ramps at Rock Springs this week

Crews are scheduled to finish paving the on- and off-ramps at Rock Springs and Interstate 17 this week. The overnight paving work is part of an ongoing pavement-improvement project on I-17 between New River and Coldwater Canyon roads in Black Canyon City. Work hours are from 6:30 p.m. to 6 a.m.

The following restrictions are scheduled this week, weather permitting:

Tuesday, March 21:

The northbound I-17 off-ramp will be closed at Rock Springs Road. Drivers can use Coldwater Road and Old Black Canyon Highway as alternates.

Wednesday, March 22, and Thursday, March 23:
The northbound I-17 on-ramp will be closed at Rock Springs Road. Drivers can use Coldwater Road as an alternate route.

The $10.8 million project includes the removal of a layer of the existing pavement and application of a new layer of smooth, quiet rubberized asphalt. The project is scheduled to be completed by summer 2017.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
