Yuma drivers should plan alternate route while ramps at Interstate 8 and Giss Parkway are closed

Construction of a roundabout at westbound Interstate 8 and Giss Parkway in Yuma is underway. The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the first major construction-related closure, which is scheduled to begin next week:

The westbound off- and on ramps at the I-8 and Giss Parkway Interchange will close to all traffic beginning Monday, April 10, and remain closed through mid-June.
This closure will be in place 24 hours a day, seven days a week.
Drivers must use an alternate route, such as 16th Street.
ADOT will maintain two-way traffic on Giss Parkway and access to businesses in the work zone.

The $1.8 million, seven-month project includes constructing a two-lane modern roundabout at the intersection to improve safety and traffic flow. Work also includes improving drainage, intersection lighting, signage and lane striping, and making cyclist accommodations. Learn more at azdot.gov/I8GissTI.
