Northbound Interstate 17 closed this weekend between Camelback Road and Glendale Avenue Drivers should plan ahead and consider alternate routes

The Arizona Department of Transportation continues to make progress on the I-17 Improvement Project that is adding a new layer of smooth rubberized asphalt to the freeway between Dunlap and 19th avenues in Phoenix. The next in a series of weekend closures is scheduled to begin Friday night. ADOT encourages drivers to plan ahead and use alternate routes, including State Route 51 and Loop 101. Northbound I-17 traffic also can detour along the I-17 frontage road, 19th Avenue and 27th Avenue.

Closures and restrictions include:
Northbound I-17 will be closed between Camelback Road and Glendale Avenue from 10 p.m. Friday, May 5, to 5 a.m. Monday, May 7. The left lane of southbound I-17 will be closed between Camelback Road and Glendale Avenue for fence work. The southbound off-ramp at Glendale Avenue will also be closed.
Glendale Avenue and Bethany Home Road will be narrowed to one lane in both directions as crews work on fence replacement at the interchanges, the left-turn lanes at I-17 will also be closed.

I-17 will be closed in segments each weekend through the end of June. Only one direction will be closed at a time.

Drivers should use caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment in work zones.

No restrictions or closures will be scheduled over the Memorial Day holiday weekend in May.
