CLEAN UP YOUR ACT

(Men's Health) A wise sage once said, "If you have a tough task, give it to a lazy man, he'll find an easier way." Right on. Here's how to clean everything with minimal effort:

De-crud your grill
Fire it up and spray white vinegar on the grate. Then use tongs and some crumpled-up foil or half an onion to scrub the buildup away.

Clean y our tools
Fill a 5-gallon bucket with sand and mix in 1 cup of vegetable oil. Repeatedly plunge in hedge trimmers, shovels, and hoes. Thee sand buffs them and the oil leaves a coasting to ward off future rust. If you want, you can even store the tools upright in the bucket.

Stash more stuff
The cavities between studs in your shed are perfect for long-handled tools, scrap wood, and pipe. Secure bungees or 2x4s across the studs to hold items in place.

Declutter those gutters
With a utility knife, cut the bottom of a rectangular motor oil bottle at a 45-degree angle. Holding your new gutter trowel by the neck scoop out the muck.

Have a blast
To clear a clogged downspout, insert the muzzle of a leaf blower into the bottom elbow and pull the trigger to break up debris and blow it away.

Attack the cracks
Create a weed barrier in those silvers of space between sidewalk slabs or patio pavers: Sweep in polymeric sand you can find it at a hardware store, and then mist with water. Repeat. Don't do this if you love to pull weeds.

Prep the mower
Grab a stiff putty knife and scrape the underside of the mower deck. Once it's clean, hit it with cooking spray to discourage future clogs from grass clippings.

Build neighborhood relations
Host a happy hour have everyone bring a six pack. Don't like your neighbors that much? Set up a book swap. You'll look generous, communal, and so well read. Go to littlefreelibrary.org
