I-10 overnight restrictions near SR 587 set for resurfacing work Drivers should allow extra travel time, consider alternate routes

PHOENIX – A pavement-improvement project along Interstate 10 between the Gila River Bridge and State Route 587 (Casa Blanca Road) will require overnight lane restrictions this week (Aug. 28-Sept. 1), according to the Arizona Department of Transportation. No restrictions will be scheduled over the Labor Day holiday weekend beginning Friday afternoon.

Drivers should allow extra travel time and consider alternate routes if possible while the following restrictions are in place:
Westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between SR 587 and the Gila River Bridge from 7 p.m.Monday to 5 a.m. Tuesday (Aug. 29) and from 7 p.m. Tuesday to 5 a.m. Wednesday (Aug. 30) for rubberized asphalt resurfacing. Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely when approaching the work zone.
Eastbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between the Gila River Bridge and SR 587 from 7 p.m.Wednesday to 6 a.m. Thursday (Aug. 31) and from 7 p.m. Thursday to 6 a.m. Friday (Sept. 1) for rubberized asphalt resurfacing. Please allow extra travel time and be prepared to merge safely when approaching the work zone.
Westbound I-10 narrowed to one lane between SR 587 and the Gila River Bridge from 7 to 11 p.m.Wednesday (Aug. 30) for rubberized asphalt resurfacing.

Drivers can consider using alternate routes depending on their direction of travel and destination. Riggs Road will serve as one local alternate route. State routes 87, 187 and/or 387 will serve as alternate routes to consider. Please allow extra travel time. I-10 drivers traveling beyond Phoenix area should consider avoiding these restrictions by using I-8 and SR 85 as alternate routes.

The I-10 resurfacing project between the Gila River Bridge and SR 587 is scheduled for completion this fall. ADOT will provide updated restriction information on a weekly basis. Schedules are subject to change due to inclement weather or other factors.
