Interstate 17 restrictions scheduled next week for wrong-way vehicle detection project

Phoenix drivers should plan for overnight restrictions along Interstate 17 the week of Oct. 30 as work continues to install the pilot wrong-way vehicle detection and warning system. All restrictions are scheduled nightly from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. the following day:

Monday, Oct. 30
Southbound I-17 to westbound I-10 ramp closed.
Southbound I-17 off-ramp at McDowell Road closed.
DETOUR: Drivers should consider exiting southbound I-17 at Thomas Road, then use 27th or 35th avenues to access westbound I-10.

Tuesday, Oct. 31
Northbound I-17 frontage road from Encanto to Thomas closed.
Southbound I-17 off-ramp at Thomas Road closed.
North- and southbound I-17 off-ramps at Camelback Road closed.

Wednesday, Nov. 1
North- and southbound I-17 off-ramps at Indian School Road closed.
North- and southbound I-17 off-ramps at Peoria Avenue closed.

Thursday, Nov. 2
Northbound I-17 will be narrowed to two lanes (left two lanes closed) between McDowell and Thomas roads. The southbound HOV lane will be closed in the same area.
North- and southbound I-17 off-ramps at Bethany Home Road closed.

Drivers should plan for possible delays and use alternate routes.
