Drivers on Interstate 10 between Benson and Tucson could experience delays this weekend as the Arizona Department of Transportation works to accommodate a large-capacity, oversized load.
A transport vehicle is scheduled to use the westbound I-10 travel lanes to head east on I-10 between exits 303 and 302 in Benson and again on the I-10 frontage road in Tucson between Kolb and Craycroft roads. The transport is scheduled to occur between 10 p.m., Saturday, Dec. 16, and 6 a.m., Sunday, Dec. 17. I-10 will be closed for approximately one hour as the transport occurs, and law enforcement officers will stop traffic.
Drivers can use State Route 83, SR 82 or SR 80 as alternate routes.
The transport will take approximately 60 minutes if the load is able to maintain an average speed of 50 mph.
Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors. For more information, please call the ADOT Project Information Line at 855.712.8530 or email Projects@azdot.gov. For real-time highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.
