Repair work continues at Interstate 17 and Seventh Avenue in Phoenix this weekend

The Arizona Department of Transportation is working to complete a critical bridge repair project on Interstate 17 at Seventh Avenue in Phoenix, requiring closures and restrictions in the work zone this weekend. Drivers should allow extra time and consider alternate routes while the following restrictions are in place from 2 a.m. Saturday, Dec. 16, to 5 a.m. Monday, Dec. 18:

Seventh Avenue will be closed in both directions at Interstate 17. Detour: For northbound Seventh Avenue, use the southbound I-17 frontage road to northbound Central Avenue to the northbound I-17 frontage road. For southbound Seventh Avenue, use the northbound I-17 frontage road to southbound 11th Avenue to the southbound I-17 frontage road.
Southbound I-17 will be narrowed to one or two lanes at Seventh Avenue. Drivers should slow down and use caution around construction personnel and equipment.
Traffic exiting southbound I-17 at Seventh Avenue will not be able to make left turns onto Seventh Avenue. Consider exiting at Seventh Street or 19th Avenue instead.

Drivers can use eastbound Interstate 10 in the downtown area as an alternate route.
