The Festival of the Southwest

The Festival of the Southwest will offer free live entertainment all three days including: Friday, May 4 from 5 to 8 p.m. the Sugar Stains, an all- female, guitar rock band with driving drum beats, will take the stage; Friday, May 4 from 9-11 p.m., enjoy the sounds of Zepparella, an all-female Led Zeppelin Tribute Band from San Francisco; then Saturday, May 5 from 5-8 p.m., join “Pop Gun Rerun,” as they bring the biggest songs of the 80s to life on stage; and Saturday, May 5 from 9-11 p.m., don’t miss the sounds of “Savor.” You’ll close your eyes and think you’re listening to your favorite Santana album! Sunday, May 6 is Family Day at the festival. From noon-4 p.m., the entire family can enjoy free activities such as karaoke, horse lead-arounds, hair painting, arts and crafts, giveaways and more. All activities are held at Veterans Memorial Park, Sierra Vista and admission to the park is also free. For more information, call 533-3354 or 266-0254.

Book discussion group to meet The next book up for discussion by the Cochise College Literary Guild is “Spirit Walk,” written by Cochise College instructor Jay Treiber. The discussion is Nov. 21, 11 a.m. – noon, in the Horace Steele Room in the Sierra Vista Campus Library Building.
