   In 1956 A 10-day "Alan Freed Rock & Roll Spectacluar" kicks off at the
           Brooklyn Paramount Theatre in New York featuring Fats Domino and
           Frankie Lymon & The Teenagers.
   In 1961 Motown releases what would be its first #1 record, "Please Mr.
           Postman" by the Marvelettes.
   In 1961 "Wooden Heart" by Joe Dowell is #1 on the U.S. top 40 chart.
   In 1963 Peter, Paul & Mary perform "Blowin' In The Wind" before civil rights
           marchers who had gathered in Washington to hear Martin Luther King
           Jr. speak.
   In 1964 The Beatles perform before 16,000 screaming fans at the first of two
           concerts at Forest Hills Tennis Stadium in New York. After the
           concert, they met Bob Dylan, who reportedly introduced them to
           marijuana.

           driving in his hometown of Augusta, GA. The cyclist was unhurt.

   In 1995 Bon Jovi's album "These Days" is certified gold and platinum.
   In 1996 Collective Soul's album "Collective Soul" goes triple platinum.
   In 1997 Genesis' first studio album in 6 years, "Calling All Stations," is

   In 2003 The 20th annual MTV Video Music Awards begin with Britney Spears
           and Christina Aguilera singing Madonna's "Like a Virgin." Later,
           Madonna appears and exchanges open-mouth kisses with both Spears
           and Aguilera.
   In 2009 DJ AM was found dead in his Manhattan apartment after he narrowly
           survived a plane crash just a few months earlier.
