TODAY IS

American celebrity chef Emeril Lagasse celebrates his 59th birthday. He's accomplished quite a bit in his lifetime. Especially considering he's a chef with the word "gassy" in his name.

Britain's Duchess of York, Sarah Ferguson, turns 59 today. Her nickname was "Fergie" and her daughter Princess Eugenie of York got married last Friday.

Tito Jackson turns 65 today. He's one of the other unsuccessful brothers.

Chris DeBurgh, the one-hit wonder who sang "Lady in Red," celebrates birthday number 70 today.

Richard Carpenter turns 72 today. Back in the 70s, he and his sister were "The Carpenters." But when he went solo, he was known as "The Carpenter" and most of his phone calls were for roof repair and siding jobs.

Penny Marshall, director and half of Laverne and Shirley, turns 75 today. "Schlemiel! Schlimazel! Hasenpfeffer Incorporated!" if you've always wondered what they were saying.

Linda Lavin, who played the mom on Sean Hayes' show "Sean Saves the World," turns 81 today. Her first big TV hit was a show called "Alice," where she worked in a diner with a southern waitress named, "Flo," who was famous for the line, "Kiss my grits." Just filling your head with useless information. You could get on Jeopardy one day.
