Breaking up is always hard to do, and perhaps the most despicable and heartless way to say adieu is by text message. But if you're too anxious (read: cowardly) to meet your (former) love in person to say the heartbreaking words that must be said, it's probably better to do it by text than voice mail. Maybe. And you're not alone. One in 10 of us breaks up this way, according to a survey of 2,000 people conducted by Recombu.com. Why? It's a good way to avoid confrontation. Even the rich and famous do it.   • Sorry. It's over.

  • I love you to death, but I would rather not die right now. Hope you get my point. Bye.
