Tucson Presidio: Living History Days

Tucson Presidio: Living History Days  The Tucson Presidio museum/gift shop, re-enacts 1775-1856 Tucson life with children's games, storytelling, and fresh baked bread to sample Saturday, March 12, from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Help churn butter, push the bellows of the blacksmith's forge, spin cotton and learn how the soldiers fire their muskets. It's a fun-filled day for the whole family. Learn about different facets of Spanish Colonial Tucson in the zaguan where stories and short talks will be shared. Listen to the relaxing music of the day and tour the museum exhibits. Ad- mission is $3 and children under 14 are free. Free street parking also available. 

Fairbanks Day

Fairbanks Day  Visit the ghost town of Fairbanks Saturday, Mar 12, from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. for displays, demonstrations and activities to include the restored Fairbank Schoolhouse Museum, Power from the Past engines, adobe  brick making, kid’s treasure hunt, Clovis culture display and atlatl throwing, book signings, Amerind Foundation, Bisbee Mining & Historical Museum, Buffalo Soldiers, Coronado National Memorial, Cowboy - Western Heritage Skills, Forest Service, Friends of Brown Canyon Ranch, Friends of the Huachuca Mountains, Friends of Kentucky Camp, Friends of the San Pedro River, Gray Hawk Nature Center, Ramsey Canyon Preserve, Sierra Vista Historical Society, and more!! Thunder & Lightning over Arizona: Air Show & Open House

Thunder & Lightning over Arizona: Air Show & Open House  Celebrate aviation history and air power with military air demonstrations by the Thunderbirds and other military and civilian acts at Davis-Monthan Air Force Base March 12-13 from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. daily; aerial demonstrations begin around 11a.m. Each performance by the Thunderbirds can last up to 75 minutes and is made up of 40 different maneuvers, both formation flying and solo routines. The entire Tucson community is invited to attend the Open House to experience both the aerial demonstrations and ground displays. Food, beverages and novelties will be available to purchase. Please visit the event’s website for information on prohibited items. The event is free and open to all. VIP and beer garden tickets can be purchased ahead of time online . 

8th Annual Tucson Festival of Books

8th Annual Tucson Festival of Books  The Tucson Festival of Books is Mar 12-13 from 9:30 a.m. to 5: 30 p.m. daily at the UA Mall with nearby venues for exhibits, author presentations and panel discussions. The Festival is a community-wide celebration of literature, offered free of charge to the public. Over 350 authors par ticipate in presentations and workshops attracting diverse audiences. There is special programming for children and teens, panels by best-selling and emerg- ing authors, a literary circus, culturally diverse programs, a poetry venue, exhibi- tor booths and two food courts. Parking at the University of Arizona is compli- mentary during Festival weekend. Use of public transportation is strongly encour- aged. Both the Sun Tran bus system and the Sun Link streetcar provide conven- ient alternatives to parking at the University of Arizona.

The Sierra Vista Community Chorus presents its annual Sweet Treats and Swinging Sounds Show, “Timeless Treasures." There will be two shows on Saturday, Mar 5, at 2 p.m. and at 6:30 p.m., and one show on Sunday, Mar 6 at 2 p.m. at the Ethel H. Berger Center. Your $8 ticket buys you three delicious desserts, a beverage, and a cabaret style show. Tickets are on sale now and are available at the Oscar Yrun Center and from chorus members.
