Night work on I-19 bridges over the Santa Cruz River scheduled next two weeks

The Arizona Department of Transportation is resurfacing the decks of the Interstate 19 bridges over the Santa Cruz River south of Tucson the next two weeks. The work requires overnight travel restrictions at the bridges (between milepost 57/kilometer post 94 and milepost 58/kilometer post 96) nightly throughout this week and the following week. Crews will resurface the southbound I-19 bridge over the Santa Cruz River nightly through Friday, Dec. 2. The work will require alternating lane closures from 8 p.m. each night to 6 a.m. the following morning. Work on the northbound I-19 bridge over the Santa Cruz River will be done nightly Sunday, Dec. 4, through Friday, Dec. 9.  All travel lanes will be open for the weekend starting at 6 a.m. Saturdays. Night work at I-19 traffic interchange at Ajo Way scheduled this week

Motorists passing through the area of Interstate 19 and Ajo Way will encounter nighttime restrictions this week as the Arizona Department of Transportation continues work to replace the traffic interchange on Tucson’s southwest side. The following restrictions are scheduled for this week:  The southbound I-19 off-ramp at Irvington Road and the right lane of southbound I-19 approaching the ramp will be closed from 9 p.m. Thursday, Dec. 1, to 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, for removal of temporary concrete barrier. The left lane of northbound I-19 will be closed between Ajo Way (State Route 86) and Interstate 10 from 9 p.m.Thursday, Dec. 1, to 5 a.m. Friday, Dec. 2, for installation of temporary concrete barrier. State highway to Grand Canyon’s North Rim to close for winter

With facilities shut down for season, highway will reopen in the spring PHOENIX ‒ State Route 67 leading to the North Rim of Grand Canyon National Park will close for the winter on Thursday, Dec. 1. The highway will be blocked to traffic about a half mile from its junction with US 89A at Jacob Lake. With park facilities closed for the winter, the Arizona Department of Transportation doesn’t clear snow from the highway, which leads 43 miles south from US 89A. The North Rim averages more than 9 feet of snow annually, according to the National Weather Service. SR 67 is scheduled to reopen in mid-May along with North Rim lodges, campgrounds and other amenities. State Route 64 remains open all year to the Grand Canyon’s South Rim. In addition, State Route 473, a 10-mile-long highway that provides direct access to the Hawley Lake recreational area in the White Mountains, is scheduled to close on Thursday, Dec. 1. Rock work on State Route 77 in Dripping Springs continues rolling in December

The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue work to remove potentially hazardous rocks alongside State Route 77 in the Dripping Springs area through December. The work will continue to require full closures of SR 77 on some nights and daily lane closures between mileposts 154 and161. The following travel restrictions are scheduled through the end of 2016: Full closers of State Route 77 will be in effect this week through Thursday, Dec. 1, from 8 p.m. nightly until 2 a.m. the following morning. During the full closures, motorists can use State Route 177 and US 60 to get around the work area. Daytime lane closures also will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. this week through Thursday, Dec. 1. A pilot vehicle will guide motorists through the work area and delays of 15 minutes can be expected.
