Rock work on State Route 77 in Dripping Springs continues rolling in December


The Arizona Department of Transportation will continue work to remove potentially hazardous rocks alongside State Route 77 in the Dripping Springs area through December.

The work will continue to require full closures of SR 77 on some nights and daily lane closures between mileposts 154 and161. The following travel restrictions are scheduled through the end of 2016:

  • Full closers of State Route 77 will be in effect this week through Thursday, Dec. 1, from 8 p.m. nightly until 2 a.m. the following morning. During the full closures, motorists can use State Route 177 and US 60 to get around the work area.
  • Daytime lane closures also will be in effect from 10 a.m. until 8 p.m. this week through Thursday, Dec. 1. A pilot vehicle will guide motorists through the work area and delays of 15 minutes can be expected.
  • Daytime lane closures will be in effect from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Monday, Dec. 5, Thursday, Dec. 8, and Friday, Dec. 9with a pilot vehicle guiding motorists through the work area and 15-minute delays. No work is scheduled on Tuesday, Dec. 6, or Wednesday, Dec. 7.
  • Full nighttime closures of SR 77 will resume Monday, Dec. 12, through Thursday, Dec. 15, and from Monday, Dec. 19, through Thursday, Dec.  22. These closures also will be from 8 p.m. each night until 2 a.m. the following morning with the detour on SR 177 and US 60 to avoid the work area.
  • Daytime lane closures will be in effect with the pilot vehicle guiding traffic through the work area from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday, Dec. 12, through Friday, Dec. 16, and Monday, Dec. 19, through Thursday, Dec. 22. Delays of 15 minutes can be expected.

No work is scheduled from Dec. 24, 2016, through Jan. 2, 2017.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.
