US 60 (Grand Avenue) and Bell Road Final Weekly Project Update

The Arizona Department of Transportation would like to thank you for your support and patience during the Grand Avenue and Bell Road interchange project!  The opening of the new Grand Avenue ramps connecting to the Bell Road overpass on February 16 was the last major milestone for the project. While there is still some work to complete, ADOT and its partners are pleased to have opened all the new connections at the interchange, allowing much-improved traffic flow for the West Valley region. The project team will complete permanent lane striping on sections of new pavement along Grand Avenue on March 5 and March 6. Crews also will finish minor work on signage, landscaping and signals as the project comes to an end.  Drivers using the new interchange should continue to pay attention to signs and other traffic-control devices, including the new traffic signals on the Bell Road bridge. Motorists using the new Grand Avenue on-ramps also should use cautio...

Material testing on State Route 89 Meath Wash Bridge requires ADOT to narrow travel lanes Drivers requiring lanes wider than 12 feet should seek alternate route

Travel lanes on State Route 89 at the Meath Wash Bridge near Ashfork will be narrowed to 12 feet next week and the speed limit will be reduced to 35 mph to create a safe work zone for crews doing soil and materials testing.  Drivers with loads wider than 12 feet must find an alternate route. Restrictions will be in place daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday, Feb. 27, through Friday, March 3. The Meath Wash Bridge is located on SR 89, approximately five miles south of Interstate 40. The work is required for the design of a project to replace the bridge. Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az...

Plan for three-week restriction on US 191 south of Utah border beginning Monday, Feb. 27

If you’re driving on US 191 in the northern part of Arizona near Canyon De Chelly, plan for delays between milepost 507 and 508 for the next three weeks. A 24-hour-per-day, one-lane hard closure will be in place from 6 a.m. Monday, Feb. 27, through 5 p.m. Monday, March 20, as crews complete a maintenance project. The roadway will be narrowed to one lane only. Pilot cars and temporary traffic signals will facilitate alternating travel through the work zone. Drivers should slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment. ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions and closures, but it’s possible that unscheduled impacts might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov , follow ADOT on Twitter ( @ArizonaDOT ) or call 511, except while driving.

My Thoughts For The Day..

One winning ticket was sold in Wednesday's $435-million Powerball drawing. All I can do is hope it's a relative. A New York man claims he has gotten away without paying any federal income tax since 1970. I would think if you actually got away with that, it would be counter-productive to call attention to it. A study says testosterone gel does not improve men's memory. And in a related story, a study says testosterone gel does not improve men's memory. High Times magazine is moving from New York to California. Their slogan is, "All the news that's... uh, what were we talking about again?" I hate it when you click to see a trailer for a movie and they show you a commercial... before watching a commercial!

SCIENCE OF SMOOTH

(Men's Health) Today's cutting edge technology makes the art of shaving easier than ever. There are really only two good reasons to shave daily power and sex. One survey found that mean with mustaches were less likely to hold management positions. And a study from Gillette and Tinder revealed that clean-shaving men received 37 percent more Tinder matches than their furry rivals. Yet despite the promise of corporate success and romance, the fact remains that shaving isn't fun: Only 12 percent of men always make it through a razor-to-face encounter without irritation of some sort, according to Gillette. For the other 88 percent of us, there's help: The shaving industry is responding to men's needs in ways that used to apply only to women. "There are so many problem specific product on the market that every guy can and should have a shave routine tailored specifically to his facial hair," says dermatologist Filmamer Kabigting, M.D. of Columbia University Medi...
