On this date in 1777, General George Washington is defeated by the British in the Battle of Germantown. Ironically, on that very same day, General George British was defeated by the Germans in Washington. In 1871, a patent was granted for cement, one of the more concrete ideas of its time. The inventor was later convicted of first-degree mortar. Okay, I'm done. On this date in 1892, a patent was granted for book matches. Although, some preferred to wait until the movie came out. That is, once movies were invented.  Back then, a Kindle was what you did to a fire which you started with book matches.  Perfect for anyone who wanted to burn their books.  The first book was a real page burner.  The critics called the book, "striking."  Ironically, the guy who invented matches was quite a hot head.  Levi Strauss died on this date in 1902. While all eyes may be on Prince Harry and Meghan Markle after making their first official joint appearance as a couple, E! News has learned the pair was able to meet up at a special location days days beforehand. A source confirms to us that Prince Harry recently visited his girlfriend on the Toronto set of her USA Network series Suits. Paving on Interstate 40 westbound ramps at A-1 Mountain traffic this Wednesday and Friday

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to pave at the westbound ramps at A-1 Mountain traffic interchange as part of the improvement project on Interstate 40 from Parks to Riordan. ADOT advises drivers to allow extra travel time while work occurs on the westbound ramps at A-1 Mountain traffic interchange (Exit 190) as follows: · Wednesday, Sept. 27, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. · Friday, Sept. 29, from 5 a.m. to 6 p.m. Motorists can use the interchanges at Bellemont (milepost 185) and Flagstaff Ranch Road (milepost 192) for alternative travel. Signs will be in place to assist with detour routes in the area. For more information about this project, visit azdot.gov/I40Paving.
