Sierra Vista Historical Society plaque

On Saturday, August 8 at 1 pm, the Sierra Vista Historical Society will be

dedicating an historical plaque at the SV Elks Lodge on Wilcox Drive.  This

plaque is sponsored by Sierra Vista Elks Lodge 2065.  The SV Elks Lodge was

instituted at this location on February 24, 1958 with 175 charter members.

The efforts of the founders of this lodge attained three firsts in the

history of Elk-dom on that day.  First, the lodge was instituted in the

shortest time ever for an Elks Lodge.  Second, it was the first time a lodge

was instituted in its own building.  This was accomplished by the efforts of

the charter members and the generous land donation by Margaret Carmichael.

Third, the lodge building was dedicated the same evening it was instituted.

This event is free and open to the public.  For more information, contact
