The facility will allow pedestrians to safely travel to and from the Mariposa Port of Entry in Nogales.
- Northbound State Route 189 is narrowed to one lane at Port Access Drive through early October 2015 for construction of the southern end of the underpass.
- Port Access Drive at State Route 189 is closed through early October 2015.
- Access to Port Access Drive from State Route 189 will be provided via the temporary driveway located to the south of State Port Drive through early October 2015.
- On Saturday (Aug. 15) Unisource will be shutting off power to businesses on the west side of SR 189 (Mariposa Drive) at Free Port Access Drive in Nogales beginning at 7 p.m. through 3 a.m. Sunday (Aug. 16) to relocate a high voltage power line.
The under-crossing will consist of a 356-foot-long, 10-by-10 concrete box culvert on the east side of SR 189 that will include ventilation structures and lighting. Other improvements include new sidewalks, traffic signals and storm drain improvements.
The $3.3 million improvement project is expected to be completed by December 2015.
