Southbound SR 189 in Nogales reduced to two lanes approach Mariposa Port   Work on the pedestrian under-crossing on State Route 189 in Nogales has required the Arizona Department of Transportation to close one southbound travel lane approaching the Mariposa Port of Entry. The left lane of southbound SR 189 is closed from Freeport Drive to the Port of Entry to accommodate northbound traffic during construction of the pedestrian underpass. The lane will be used for northbound travel for approximately two months. Motorists traveling into Mexico can expect brief delays during this restriction. Additionally, northbound SR 189 is reduced to one lane between State Port Drive and Port Access Drive for construction of the northern half of the under-crossing, and access to Port Drive from SR 189 will be provided via the intersection of State Port Drive. Interstate 10 rest area at Texas Canyon to close for six months on Dec. 1     The Interstate 10 rest area in Texas Canyon will close for renovation on Tuesday (Dec. 1) and remain closed for approximately six months. The rest areas in both directions of I-10, located in Cochise County between Benson and Willcox at milepost 320, will undergo renovations to restrooms, water systems and ramadas and will be repaved. During the renovation work at the Texas Canyon rest areas, motorists can use facilities in Willcox and Benson, as well as at the Johnson Road interchange at the east end of Texas Canyon (Exit 322). The nearest ADOT rest area, located at San Simon approximately 66 miles east of Texas Canyon near the New Mexico state line, also will be closed for renovation until January 2016. Message boards will be placed near the New Mexico state line to notify westbound motorists and west of Benson to notify eastbound motorists of the rest area closures. The...
