Interstate 8 and Araby Road (SR 195) interchange improvements scheduled to begin Monday, July 17

Consider using Avenue 3E and Avenue 8 1/2 E as alternate routes

The Arizona Department of Transportation is scheduled to begin traffic interchange improvements at Interstate 8 and Araby Road (SR 195) in Yuma on Monday, July 17. During phase one of this project, work is scheduled to occur during daylight hours Mondays through Fridays until November; however, an extended work schedule might be necessary as the project progresses.

Work will be completed in two phases to minimize impacts to winter visitors and the produce season. Crews will begin building a modern roundabout on the north side of the interchange first, and build a second roundabout on the south side of the interchange between spring and fall 2018.

As part of the work, crews will begin removing the center median and making drainage improvements. ADOT will maintain one lane of travel in both directions on Araby Road; however, drivers should allow extra travel time and consider using alternate routes including Avenue 3E and Avenue 8 ½ E.

Initial road restrictions include:

No left-turn access to Araby Road from the westbound I-8 exit ramp.
Vehicles wider than 10 feet must use alternate routes.

Both phases of the project are scheduled to be complete next fall.
