Laura Bell Bundy Gets Married at a Horse Racetrack. Oh my God, oh my God, you guys, Laura Bell Bundy is married! The Hart of Dixie and Scream Queens actress and country singer, who played Elle Woods in Broadway's Legally Blonde musical, wed TBS network executive Thom Hinkle Saturday. The two tied the knot in front of family and friends at a country-themed ceremony in the infield at the California horse racetrack Santa Anita Park. Bundy wore a custom strapless lace, beaded Sherri Hill mermaid-style gown with a sweetheart neckline, as seen on People, which first reported the news. She also donned a flower crown made of white roses. Bundy and Hinkle have been together for more than five years. She announced their engagement on New Year's Eve 2015. "Four years ago I met this amazing man @thomhinkle," she wrote. "Initially, it was his biting wit, charm & beating me at Dance Dance Revolution at Jerry's Deli that swept me off my feet, but it's his thoughtfulness, massively generous heart & the fact he switched from Scotch to KY Bourbon that has kept me falling in love with him more every day. That's not some romantic exaggeration for the sake of posting this either. It's the truth. The Bourbon thing really won me over..." "But in all seriousness.. The way we've come out of differences & challenges as better more fully realized versions of ourselves has only deepened our love & connection... And allows me to believe we have what it takes to grow young together," she continued. "It allows me to believe in love in general. THAT's when you know if love is true. He is my rock. My Partner. My Best Friend. My roomie. My champion. My greatest most fun challenge. My make-out Partner. He's the reason to my rhyme & he's attempting to make me an honest woman. I said 'YES!' #engaged #happynewyear #2016" (Eonline)

Lake Bell and Scott Campbell Welcome Baby No. 2. It's a boy! Lake Bell and Scott Campbell have welcomed their second child together, the actress' rep confirmed to E! News. The couple met in 2012 on the set of HBO's How to Make It in America and tied the knot the following year. The actress and tattoo artist's daughter, Nova, arrived in October 2014. Lake's second pregnancy was revealed in December 2016, when she and Scott attended the AG and Vanity Fair opening of Saved in L.A. and the actress-turned-director rubbed her baby bump. Since Nova's birth, Lake has spoken candidly about what motherhood is really like. "Before my daughter, I definitely was a workaholic. And I still am, and that's a part of the texture of who I am, but I had no idea that I would consider my daughter in every breath that I take," she told The Frame. "That can be exhausting, certainly, and I understand that it's not even sustainable." Motherhood isn't always what she thought it would be. But, as she once told The Independent, it's made her better person. "My daughter has provided such an amazing exercise in prioritizing what I really care about. You push yourself harder and become more creative because you're forced to funnel your creativity into allocated times. A really successful woman in my industry said to me, 'You better get comfortable with not being able to be perfect at anything.' That haunted me, and then I realized being perfect is a tall order and I've never claimed to be perfect at anything," she admitted. "I'm pretty good at stuff, and I'd like to continue to be pretty good!" It helps that Scott is a hands-on dad, of course. "My husband is, like, an awesome father," she told Baby Center. "We co-parent. We both are doing it. But, he doesn't have boobs. And so, in the beginning, there's nothing you could do. There becomes a time in the pregnancy even where you're kind of tapped out. And then, you give birth, and you're like, 'Oh, that's like a vast injury that I [experienced].' I didn't realize that." "I thought it was just going to be like, pop, and then I go back to work," the Secret Life of Pets star added. "And then, your brain is telling you, 'You must stay and take care of this progeny.'" Lake described her own mommy guilt as "so intense," confessing, "I think that the key to all of it is just not being quite as hard on ourselves as society is sort of pressuring us. It's just important to accept that what you do is very noble and very justified and paramount. It's the most honorable thing to do. If we look at it like that, and as a whole and as a community, society can kind of systemically change how we look at motherhood and those responsibilities. Then I think real change can occur. I'm a workaholic. And when I first looked at mommies quitting their jobs to be stay-at-home moms, I really didn't respect it. I didn't understand it all. I didn't. I was just like, 'That's crazy!' Like, I would go crazy. But then, I had a baby, and I was like, 'Oh! Oh! OK.'" The bottom line, according to the 37-year-old It's Complicated star, is that moms need to cut themselves some slack. "Guilt is not helpful for you. It's not helpful for your children and people around you," she said. "You have to give yourself credit, do your best and take care of yourself." People was first to report. (Eonline)

Carey Mulligan Appears to be Pregnant With Baby No. 2. Carey Mulligan appears to have another little one on the way! The 32-year-old Oscar nominee is already mom to 1-year-old daughter, Evelyn Grace Mumford, who she welcomed with husband Marcus Mumford. She and the Mumford & Sons frontman have been married since 2012. Mulligan seemingly revealed her second pregnancy when she stepped out for dinner at Sexy Fish restaurant in London with her famous hubby. Photos show Mulligan's baby bump doing her rare public outing with the musician. In similar fashion, she hinted at a pregnancy the first time around when she arrived at the 2015 Tony Awards in an A-line gown that tried to conceal her baby bump. The typically private star kept her first pregnancy mostly under wraps, simultaneously walking a red carpet in October 2015 and confirming she had already welcomed her daughter. Out of the spotlight, a source told E! News the actress was "feeling great and loving every minute of being pregnant for the first time." Meanwhile, Mumford was equally "really supportive and helpful," E! News learned at the time. Congratulations to the future family of four! (Eonline)

Taylor Swift and Joe Alwyn Are ''Exclusive,'' But Have Besties Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid Met Him? Taylor Swift is taking her relationship with Joe Alwyn to the next level. An insider tells E! News exclusively the pop star and British actor are officially "exclusive," less than a month after news surfaced of their blossoming romance. The couple has spent time in Joe's native England as well as Taylor's Nashville hometown, and were most recently spotted in New York City driving in a chauffeured car with her bodyguards. But despite the Swiftie fandom being kept mostly in the dark on the Grammy winner's new man, her A-list squad is most definitely in the know. "This isn't a new couple alert or a secret relationship," a second source close to Taylor and Joe shares. "The only people this has been a secret to is the media because all of us -- Taylor and Joe's closest friends and their families -- were aware they have been together for several months and have known each other for a long time," the insider adds. So which members of Swift's inner circle have had the pleasure of meeting Joe? Well for starters, we're told both Selena Gomez and Gigi Hadid, as well as other "close friends," have spent time getting to know the 26-year-old Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk star. The source explains that T. Swift and SelGo talk "all the time" via phone and text about "what's going on in [Swift's] life." "They both seem to be pretty similar to their approach on their relationships this time around," the insider continues, referring to Selena's relationship with The Weeknd. And speaking of Taylor, 27, keeping her personal life extremely under wraps after the fallout from dating Tom Hiddleston and Calvin Harris, our source says her doing so is not unintentional by any means. The insider shares, "[Swift and Alwyn] are still in the beginning stages with learning about each other as she is trying to take this relationship slower than the past ones." "She got buried in media being on top of her life during the last relationship, so she tried everything in her power to not have that happen again," a third source previously told E! News. "She worked very closely with her security team and management to make sure her life going forward was private." The source added, "She doesn't want the photos, the hysteria, the speculation. When she's ready, she'll talk about it. Don't expect this to play out like her other relationships." Well Taylor, we're ready to talk about the lucky guy whenever you are! (Eonline)

Eric Dane Is All Smiles With Family at First Public Event Since Depression Battle Reveal. Eric Dane is back on the red carpet after a short hiatus -- and with the support of his loved ones. The Grey's Anatomy alum's rep had said in April that the actor suffers from depression and would be taking a few weeks off from filming season five of the TNT series The Last Ship to deal with personal issues. The show's production was halted temporarily. On Saturday, Dane attended the 16th annual Chrysalis Butterfly Ball in Brentwood, California and was all smiles as he posed for photos with wife and actress Rebecca Gayheart, who co-founded the event, and their daughters Billie, 7, and Georgia, 5. It marked his first red carpet event since his rep's reveal about his health. Dane and Gayheart have attended the annual event, which raises funds to help the homeless and impoverished, almost every year since 2004 and have in recent years brought their kids. "We always make this a family affair," Gayheart wrote on Instagram. "I want my girls to know how important it is to give back. Thank you @chrysalisla. My girls are the luckiest ducks wearing the gorgeous @tutudumonde @modernqueenkids . Shout out to @albrightfashionlibraryla #butterflyball #chrysalis #mylittlefamily #giveback." At the event, the actress talked to E! News exclusively about her family's summer plans. Season four of TNT's The Last Ship is set to premiere on Aug. 20. (Eonline)

Demi Lovato May Have Just Thrown Shade at Kathy Griffin Following Comedian's Press Conference. Did Demi Lovato just show shade at Kathy Griffin? That's the question fans and followers are asking after the "Cool for the Summer" singer posted new messages on her social media page this afternoon. Shortly after Kathy spoke out in a press conference with her attorney Lisa Bloom, Demi took to Twitter with a cryptic post. "I find it funny when bullies play the victim," she shared with her 43 million followers. "Oops. I spilled my tea." The singer would also like a tweet from a fan that stated, "So @KathyGriffin states she will continue making fun of people, kinda like she made fun of my daughter @ddlovato for going into treatment." Earlier in the day, Kathy and her lawyers spoke out days after the comedian shared an image of herself holding up a prop meant to represent President Donald Trump's severed, bloody head. "I made a horrible, horrible call," Kathy said. "Trust me, if I could redo the whole thing, I'd have a blow up doll and no ketchup." She continued, "What's happening to me has never happened in the history of this great country, which is a sitting president of the United States and his grown children and the First Lady are personally, I feel, personally trying to ruin my life forever." In the midst of all the controversy, a tweet from 2014 has surfaced where Kathy pokes fun at Demi. When a fan asked who is the biggest douche celebrity you've met, Kathy responded. "Probably Debbie Lovato. Plus she should calm the f down bout Lady Gaga getting barfed on." And in her book titled Kathy Griffin's Celebrity Run-Ins, the author dedicated several pages to the Grammy nominee. (Eonline)

Sean Penn Keeps His Cool During Delta Flight Confrontation and Gets Rewarded. Sean Penn flies coach! But he didn't recently, thanks to two angry passengers. The Oscar winner and daughter Dylan Penn had recently boarded the economy class cabin of a Delta Airlines flight and angered two passengers by placed their bags in an overhead compartment. The passengers confronted Sean and told him to move the bags. E! News learned they were aggressive and rude towards the actor. Sean then worked to diffuse the situation and spoke with members of the flight crew who witnessed the incident. They then moved him and Dylan from economy to first class. No further action was taken. While most celebrities fly first class, some ride along with the "common folk" in cattle class. In 2015, Angelina Jolie and Brad Pitt were spotted with their kids holding economy class tickets to a flight from the U.S. to Paris. In 2014, Amy Adams gave up her first class planet seat to an American serviceman and took his seat in coach. She later took a selfie with him. Last year, Andie MacDowell was downgraded from first class to economy, or what she dubbed "tourist" class, and she was not happy about it. Others, such as Miranda Kerr and Orlando Bloom and Sally Field, compromise a little...opting for business class. And some stars just take discount airlines whose cabin seats are all coach-sized. In 2010, director Kevin Smith made headlines when he was booted off a Southwest Airlines plane after officials said he was unable to fit into the seat. The airline did apologized. Smith boycotted the airline for six years before he took a Southwest flight in 2016 to get to a convention. (Eonline)

Scarlett Johansson Calls Out the Stigma of Female Sexuality: "Having a Healthy Sexual Attitude, You Are Labeled as Loose." Scarlett Johansson is calling it like she sees it. The Cosmopolitan cover girl is known to be vocal about the issues she's passionate about. For the July issue, she faces many of those subjects head on. First up: people who have a problem with women talking about sex. "When women talk about enjoying sex, it's almost forbidden. Just having a healthy sexual attitude, you are labeled as loose, wild, a slut," she told the magazine. "You have no morals, and you're seen as some kind of sexual deviant or someone who can't be in a monogamous relationship. The minute you talk about enjoying yourself, being curious, that is still taboo." Johansson is also a public supporter of Planned Parenthood and the access to healthcare that the organization represents -- another highly stigmatized issue. "There's no reason we shouldn't be talking about our reproductive rights," she told the magazine. "They're something we have to fight for and continue to protect. There's nothing icky about talking about that stuff. Of course, it's private and it's your body, but we should take the stigma away." The star, whose activism has been visible over the course of the most recent presidential election, is hopeful that the desire to speak up will reveal itself in her only daughter, Rose Dorothy Dauriac. "Whenever you speak publicly, it's always a risk, right? Maybe you'll lose some followers. But if you have something to say, it can be really impactful," the actress explained. "I hope my daughter finds her voice and feels like she can engage anyone in any number of topics. I grew up in an environment that encouraged activism, so I never thought about the effect that it would have on my career at any stage. But I know it's a luxury, and not everybody has that luxury." While she expresses her views publicly, she wonders how First Daughter Ivanka Trump manages her own outlook on issues, particularly while affiliated with President Donald Trump's White House. "I'm not asking her to come out and talk about something she doesn't believe in... I know it's complicated. It's her father. Can you imagine? Maybe she's afraid she'll be abandoned," she said. "It's hard to put yourself in somebody's position like that. But how do you move the needle in one direction or the other? Hopefully, she'll make a courageous choice and stand up for what she believes in -- whatever that might happen to be." (Eonline)

Brandy last posted on social media about two hours before her flight -- she shared a selfie on Snapchat. Phil Collins has revealed he is drinking again despite previously saying alcohol was killing him. The rock legend, 66, makes a comeback as he begins his Not Dead Yet tour. He insists he can now control his boozing and is capable of enjoying "a couple of glasses of wine." The "Against All Odds" singer said in a US interview: "I didn't drink for three years. I personally do not believe I was an alcoholic. I had a problem with alcohol. I didn't have anything else to do, and I enjoyed it. But when I had to stop because it was killing me, I stopped." Collins was admitted to hospital in 2012 at the height of his boozing, prompting fears for his well-being. He came out of retirement for a European tour, starting in Liverpool. He has overcome health issues but is still blighted by back and hip problems which required surgery, preventing him from playing drums. But recent TV appearances have confirmed he is back in great form. Looking back, the Genesis icon said he drank vodka to fill his boredom after retiring and splitting from his wife Orianne Cevey. The pair has since reconciled. He said: "I kind of enjoyed not having to do anything -- turn on some TV, watch some sports. Then you're turning on the TV a little earlier, having a glass of wine a little earlier. Then the wine becomes vodka, and then suddenly, you're killing yourself." (Page Six)

Teen Mom: OG Star Ryan Edwards Has Checked Into Rehab. Teen Mom:OG's Ryan Edwards has checked into rehab, multiple sources have confirmed to E! News. The news comes days after disturbing substance abuse allegations were made on this week's episode of the MTV reality show. The sources also tell E! News that Ryan has been in rehab for two weeks and that he's "doing well." Ryan has moved on from his days with ex Maci Bookout, who is now married to Taylor McKinney. Ryan is currently engaged to Mackenzie Standife, whom he asked to marry him in 2016. Despite their sometimes strained relationship, Maci broke down about her ex's issues with substances while on a trip to Puerto Rico to celebrate co-star Catelynn Lowell's 25th birthday, alongside her husband Tyler Baltierra, Amber Portwood and her fiance Matt Baier. Maci made it clear to the other reality stars that she feared for her son's father, worrying that he may one day do irreparable damage to himself. When Catelynn asked how Ryan was doing, Amber interjected, "Ryan's f--ked up. I watch it, I see it, I know it. Where he's at right now, when I see him, I know where he's at and I'm like, 'Wow, he needs some guidance.'" Maci added that she's "talked to [Ryan] about going to a treatment center" and that her ex "would do it." However, she claims that "it's everyone else around him that is too afraid to admit it." While she fought back tears, the reality star told her co-stars, "What I'm saying is that everyone else around him is too afraid of what it will look like more than his health... it's all denial. They all know." Ryan and Maci welcomed their son Bentley eight years ago. Their struggles co-parenting have been widely documented throughout the course of Teen Mom. Maci also added it's hard watching her son's father hurt himself. "Honestly, the hardest thing is for me to see Ryan not love himself because he is a person worth loving. He deserves to love himself," said Maci. Ryan has not commented about the substance abuse issues. (Eonline)

Derek Fisher was arrested on suspicion of DUI Sunday after crashing his car on the 101 Freeway ... this following a night out at Catch in West Hollywood. Derek's Cadillac flipped over just after 3 AM PT Sunday as he was heading northbound on the Ventura 101 Freeway. His passenger was "Basketball Wives" star Gloria Govan. Neither Derek nor Gloria were injured. Derek was then arrested and jailed after it was determined he'd been drinking. CHP officials say Derek veered into the paved right shoulder of the 101 just east of the 405 interchange. He collided with the raised concrete curb and guardrail, which flipped his car over once. Luckily, the crash left both Derek and Gloria unscathed. We got Derek Saturday night leaving Catch at 11:45 PM, but he crashed at 3 AM. He apparently picked up Gloria after dinner, because she wasn't at Catch. He and Gloria have been an open couple since March. (TMZ)

Johnny Depp's "Whistleblower" to Help Him Win $25 Million Legal Battle? Can a "whistleblower" help Johnny Depp's legal case against his former business managers and their company? The actor had fired and sued The Management Group for $25 million, then sued the firm in January for $25 million for alleged fraud and mismanagement, claiming that he only learned last year that he is $40 million in debt. He blamed the company for allegedly failing to properly maintain his financial records and for taking out high-interest loans on his behalf. The star's ex-managers say his allegations are false and filed a countersuit, citing his lavish lifestyle as the cause of his financial downfall. In March, Depp's attorneys deposed a former TMG employee, Janine Rayburn, and subpoenaed notes she took during her employment at the company. A judge ruled last month that her deposition and the notes from the woman, can be unsealed. They were included in a recently amended complaint. Depp's team dubs her a "whistleblower," while the Management Group calls her a "serial liar" who is angry about getting fired. In her deposition, Rayburn said that she worked as an account manager for the Management Group and handled affairs for Depp. "I do not believe that Johnny was aware of his financial situation," she said in her deposition, adding that she thought the actor's main business manager Joel Mandel was intentionally keeping information from Depp regarding his financial affairs. Rayburn said that to her knowledge, Depp's financial statements were never sent to him and recalls being asked to notarize a two-page document that was signed by Depp, but refused because the actor was not present at the time. She said she told Mandel that it would be improper for her to notarize his signature and that he told her, 'Okay, don't worry about it' and took the document and left. She said she did not know what the papers were for, because the ones she was given only contained the end part where a signature is needed. But Rayburn also said in her deposition that she did not help prepare cash flow analysis documents or budgets and did not have personal knowledge as to whether they were sent to Depp. "Johnny Depp's outrageously false claim that he didn't know about $40 million in loans is beyond preposterous. Depp and his sister knew about each and every loan; Depp signed every document and spent all the loan proceeds," TMG lawyer Michael Kump tells E! News. "Tellingly, Depp is now seeking to prevent all discovery from Tracey Jacobs of UTA and Jake Bloom of Bloom Hergott. Depp knows that these two critical witnesses will fully support TMG's case and reveal Depp for the extraordinary liar and spendthrift that he is. It is no mystery why Depp is trying so hard to prevent this core discovery." "The idea that Johnny Depp borrowed one cent to pay TMG or his entertainment lawyer, Jake Bloom, without his knowledge is libelous and beyond outrageously false," he said. "At trial, Depp will be proven to be a liar and a fraud." "The evidence will show that Jake Bloom and Joel Mandel approached a hard money loan originator called Grosvenor Park Media to arrange a loan and only signature pages were put in front of Mr. Depp, part of over $75 million in loans taken out in Mr. Depp's name," Depp's lawyer Adam Waldman told E! News. "Using the vehicle of the hard money loan, they obtained payment streams from Mr. Depp's biggest movies to which they had no legal right. Money is money. If Mr. Mandel hadn't taken out $75 million in loans in Mr. Depp's name, where would the money have come from to pay $70 million in contingent fees to which Mr. Depp's advisers were not legally entitled? And sure enough, days after the hard money loan closed, over a million dollars went out the door in 'fees.'" Rayburn said she was fired in 2010 and that Mandel told her she was not a good fit. She said she believes she was fired because she was "asking too many questions" and was "unwilling to perform certain duties" like "notarize documents," "alter financial statements" and also because she "questioned a lot of activity that was being done." She also gave another example: She said Depp's sister and production company manager Christi Dembrowski's "personal expenses" were being paid. Dembrowski has not commented. "So I questioned it and said, 'Why are we playing for her daughter's wedding, for trips, for a new pool or her rent, her mortgage," Rayburn said in her deposition. She said Dembrowski told her in a phone conversation, "He's my brother. His money is my money. His money is mine." Rayburn said she told Mandel about Dembrowski's comments and did not "recall much of a response." Rayburn said she never received documentation from Depp indicating he had approved such expenditures and that Mandel also never told her that he had received approval from the actor to pay for them. She also said after she pursued the matter further, Mandel told her not to question Dembrowski again. "Regarding Mr. Depp's 'knowledge' and what he actually signed, the whistleblower testimony and contemporaneous notes she provided show that Mr. Depp's day to day account manager was instructed by Mr. Mandel to notarize 'fake' documents, to notarize blank documents, and to notarize documents without Mr. Depp present to be provided to banks," Depp's attorney Adam Waldman told E! News. "She was asked to alter financial statements provided to banks to take out these gargantuan loans. She refused to engage in illegal acts and was fired for it." The notes Rayburn provided were allegedly handwritten notes she had made when she felt like she was about to be fired. In them, she wrote that Mandel said Depp is "always drunk" and "will sign anything." She also called Dembrowski a "nasty bitch" and wrote that Mandel is "afraid" of her and "does whatever she says" because he is afraid to lose her as client. She also said that Mandel told her "things not working out." "Bulls -- t!" she wrote. "He is pissed that I won't do all the shady stuff over the past few months." (Eonline)

Former "Basketball Wives: LA" star Laura Govan found her home ransacked after burglars made off with a ton of cash and jewelry ... TMZ has learned. According to the police report, Govan's San Fernando home was a disaster zone when she came home last month from vacay. The kitchen window was smashed and items were thrown all over the house. Laura told cops the crooks made off with $98k in cash and $615k in jewelry ... including a $50k Rolex. Her home is in a gated community, but as we've seen in the recent string of burglaries ... that doesn't seem to matter. Govan has a security system, but says she didn't turn it on ... so a friend who was watching her dog could easily come and go. A neighbor told cops she heard the dog barking one night around 1 AM, but didn't think much of it. Govan's motion sensor doorbell also detected movement that night around 12:44 AM. She told cops video footage from her system didn't save because it's not connected to the cloud. So far, no arrests and no suspects. (TMZ)

Gregg Allman Laid to Rest Near Brother Duane's Grave at Funeral. Gregg Allman was honored at a private funeral at a cemetery in Macon, Georgia Saturday and was laid to rest near his brother Duane Allman. Gregg died at age 69 from liver cancer complications last weekend. The Southern Rock trailblazer co-founded the Allman Brothers Band, in 1969 with Duane, who was killed in a motorcycle accident in 1971 at age 24. Gregg was buried in Rose Hill Cemetery in a plot across a walkway from Duane and bassist and fellow Allman Brothers band mate Berry Oakley, who died at age 24 in 1972, The Macon Telegraph reported. Scores of fans flocked to the streets around the cemetery. Family and friends, including band mates Jaimoe and Derek Trucks, former President Jimmy Carter and Gregg's ex-wife Cher, mother of their son Elijah Blue, attended the funeral. Gregg's children Devon, Layla and Delilah Island, his niece and Duane's daughter Galadrielle, his lifelong friend Chank Middleton and his manager Michael Lehmen delivered eulogies at the service, Rolling Stone reported. Gregg is also survived by wife Shannon Allman. "Gregory's children are AMAZING," Cher tweeted Saturday. "We Spent hard day,Then went 2 Gregory house. We reminisced & watced Set.I'm so proud of em...THEY'RE ALLMANS." As requested by Allman's estate, mourners wore jeans to the funeral instead of suits, Rolling Stone reported, adding that following the private service, hundreds of fans, many wearing Allman Brothers shirts and listening to the band's music, lined the route along the funeral procession. "Rosalynn and I were deeply saddened when we learned that Gregg Allman had passed," Carter said in a statement. "Gregg and the Allman Brothers Band were very helpful to me in my 1976 presidential campaign. Gregg Allman was better known than I was at that time. Gregg Allman was there when I needed him and Rosalynn and I have always been grateful to him." (Eonline)

Chris Cornell's Cause of Death: Suicide by Hanging. Chris Cornell's cause of death has been revealed. At 12:05 a.m., police found the Soundgarden singer unresponsive with a band around his neck inside his hotel room at the MGM Grand Hotel in Detroit. Cornell, 52, was pronounced dead on the scene. A preliminary autopsy was conducted later that morning. On Thursday afternoon, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office issued a statement to E! News, saying, "The cause of death has been determined as suicide by hanging. A full autopsy report has not yet been completed." The medical examiner's office added, "There is no additional information at this time." Earlier in the day, Cornell's rep told E! News, "His wife Vicky and family were shocked to learn of his sudden and unexpected passing..." The rep added that his family "would like to thank his fans for their continuous love and loyalty and ask that their privacy be respected at this time." Cornell, a twice-married married father of three, died in the midst of a Soundgarden tour. The singer had been outspoken in the past about suffering from both depression and substance abuse. Soundgarden broke up in 1997 and reunited in 2012. "We had our moment, and we had it on a level that has only happened in a few places," Cornell told NPR. "So, it's incredible that if there were one kind of defining moment in rock music that will always be in the history books, that one of them came from Seattle. That's something that none of us would have ever guessed." In addition to releasing four solo studio albums (and one live album), he also fronted the rock supergroup Audioslave with Rage Against the Machine's Tim Commerford, Tom Morello and Brad Wilk. Formed in 2001, the group released three studio albums before disbanding in 2007. Soundgarden was set to headline the "Rock on the Range" festival at MAPFRE Stadium in Ohio Friday. "We are devastated to hear about the sudden passing of Chris Cornell last night. He was a true hero to music. The voice of a generation," the festival's organizers said in a statement. "Our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and the entire music community. The voice of an angel, now watching down on us as we celebrate and honor him all weekend long." UPDATE: After a full autopsy report, the Wayne County Medical Examiner's Office confirmed to E! News Friday that Chris Cornell's death was caused by hanging. Toxicology reports also reveal that while drugs were detected in the singer's system, they "did not contribute to the cause of death." (Eonline)

Prince William and Harry Talk New Diana Documentary: "We Feel We Owe It to Her." Prince William and Prince Harry talk for the first time about the aftermath of the death of their mother Princess Diana in a new documentary set to air on BBC1. This marks one of two authorized documentaries about the "People's Princess" that will be released this year to mark the 20th anniversary of her death. She died in a car crash in Paris at age 36 in August 1997. BBC News reported that in BBC1's 90-minute documentary, tentatively tilted Diana, William, 34, and Harry, 32, talk about the week following their mother's death. "Part of the reason why Harry and I want to do this is because we feel we owe it to her," William says, according to the outlet. "I think an element of it is feeling like we let her down when we were younger. We couldn't protect her," he continues. "We feel we at least owe her 20 years on to stand up for her name and remind everybody of the character and person that she was." He also said he and Harry were during their duty as sons in protecting Diana. "I think it's never going to be easy for the two of us to talk about our mother, but 20 years on seems like a good time to remind people of the difference that she made not just to the royal family but also to the world," Harry says in the program. The princes were 15 and 12 years old when she died. Harry, who in April opened up about their mother in a rare, candid interview, says in the documentary that "when you're that young and something like that happens to you, I think it's lodged in here, there, wherever -- in your heart, in your head and it stays there for a very, very long time." The documentary also features interviews with close friends, political figures and journalists, BBC News said. Fellow British network ITV is also making an authorized Diana documentary that also features interviews with William and Harry. HBO will air it in the United States. Air dates for both documentaries have not been announced. (Eonline)

Prince William Surprises First Responders in Manchester, Including Father of Arena Attack Victim. Prince William spent the day shaking heroes' hands. The royal traveled to Manchester Friday to come face to face with the first responders who worked tirelessly to help the victims of the Manchester Arena attack in late May. Among the officials he met at the Greater Manchester police station was a police officer who happened to be off duty waiting to pick up his daughter when the bomb went off. Michael Buckley's 15-year-old daughter, Stephanie, suffered a concussion and some crush injuries, but fortunately was able to reunite with her worried father by the early morning. "When I walked into the foyer of the arena it was absolute devastation, there were people screaming, others crying and others making no sound at all," the police officer recalled to reporters. "I knew my daughter was in there somewhere." The royal father of two expressed his appreciation and gratitude to the officers and asked if they have been receiving enough support in the aftermath of the tragedy. "It's nice that he took the time out to come and show us what we did is appreciated," Buckley told reporters. After speaking with the first responders, the prince headed to Manchester Cathedral, where he signed the Book of Condolences. "Manchester's strength and togetherness is an example to the world," the 34-year-old wrote. "My thoughts are with all those affected." Like his famous grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, he also paid a private visit to Manchester Children's Hospital to personally meet some of the victims and their families. Prince William responded publicly to the tragedy after it occurred, releasing a joint public statement with brother Prince Harry and wife Duchess of Cambridge Kate Middleton. "Like everyone, Catherine, Harry and I are left shocked and saddened by the tragedy that unfolded in Manchester overnight. Hundreds of friends, parents, children and partners are confronting unimaginable grief today, and we send our thoughts to them all," William said. "We also send our thanks to the people of Manchester for their display of strength, decency and community that is an example to the world." (Eonline)

Museum honoring daredevil Evel Knievel opens in Kansas. A new Kansas museum is giving enthusiasts of late motorcycle daredevil Evel Knievel a jump on appreciating his death-defying, bone-breaking exploits. The $5-million, 13,000-square-foot homage to the hard-living man who became a global pop icon in the 1970s with rocket-powered and motorbike stunts has launched in Topeka, of all places. As president of the two-story, nonprofit shrine attached to his Historic Harley-Davidson dealership, Mike Patterson said the Knievel memorabilia on loan from collectors includes some of the daredevil's motorcycles, leathers and helmets, and the man's restored 1974 tractor-trailer unit dubbed "Big Red." The museum also features a virtual reality motorcycle jump, an interactive that shows Knievel's actual X-rays and the stunts that resulted in those fractures, and an exhibit in which visitors select their own variables in planning a virtual jump, right down to the ramp angle, speed and whether they want to make it over cars, trucks or sharks. Knievel's Kansas ties include that he traced his career choice to the time he saw George "Joie" Chitwood's Auto Daredevil Show at age 8. Chitwood, who died in 1988, got his racing start in Kansas -- the state that also accounted for many Knievel hired for his crew. To Patterson, the museum honoring Knievel -- the Montana native who died of natural causes in 2007 at the age of 69 -- celebrates "just how popular he was." "The museum really overwhelms you with how much press he got, how many jumps he did and the amount of work he put in," Patterson told The Associated Press on Wednesday, a day after the museum's ribbon-cutting ceremony. A grand opening is planned for the end of June at the museum, which Patterson said was largely privately financed but received an $88,000 state grant and a commitment of $300,000 from the city over the next dozen years. "If you do your diligence and read everything (in the museum), it's a three- to four-hour journey," Patterson added. "Honestly, it'd be virtually impossible to have another place like this because there's a finite amount of Knievel items, and most of them are here." Immortalized in Washington's Smithsonian Institution as "America's Legendary Daredevil," the tall, thin man born Robert Craig Knievel -- always garbed in patriotic, star-studded red, white and blue -- was best known for an ill-fated 1974 attempt to jump the Snake River Canyon in Idaho on a rocket-powered "Skycycle," and a spectacular crash at Caesar's Palace in Las Vegas. He suffered dozens of broken bones before retiring in 1980. After that, Knievel made a good living selling autographs and endorsing products. Thousands flocked to his copper-mining hometown of Butte, Montana, every year for "Evel Knievel Days." "They started out watching me bust my ass, and I became part of their lives," Knievel once said. "People wanted to associate with a winner, not a loser. They wanted to associate with someone who kept trying to be a winner." Knievel, who began his daredevil career in 1965, steadily increased the length of the jumps until, on New Year's Day 1968, he was nearly killed when he jumped 151 feet across the fountains in front of Caesar's Palace. He cleared the fountains but the crash landing put him in a coma for a month. (PageSix)

LeBron James is getting the highest possible praise from Muhammad Ali's ex-wife -- who's anointed the NBA star the "Muhammad Ali of basketball" for the way he's addressed racism in America. Khalilah Ali -- who was married to Muhammad from '67 to '76 and has 4 kids with the boxing legend -- tells TMZ Sports she was extremely impressed with Bron's reaction to the racist vandalism at his L.A. home. She says Muhammad would not only be proud ... he'd be a huge fan. "I think Ali would be very supportive of him because Ali went through the same thing in the past," Khalilah says. "He would really look up to James." (TMZ)

Natalie Portman bought herself a pad in the hills of Santa Barbara where, on a clear day, ya just might see Heaven. Would you let Kanye West design your high school football uniforms?? Would you let him pick your team name??? Those are the questions Calabasas High School is now asking itself -- because Yeezy wants to take control of the CHS sports uniforms and help to re-brand the entire program. We're told Yeezy's team recently met with school officials to pitch a collaboration between Yeezy and CHS. Our sources say he wants to change the school's colors and rename them from the Coyotes to the Wolves ... fitting, considering he has a song with the same name. As part of the deal, we're told Kanye would make a sizable donation to improve school facilities -- including major upgrades to the gym. So, why get into the high school sports fashion world? Calabasas athletics have exploded over the past few years ... and some of the basketball and football players have become very high-profile. Plus, the school currently has a deal with Adidas, which owns the Yeezy brand -- so, the pairing makes perfect sense. Also, Kanye and the Kardashians have deep ties to the area. We're told the school has not made a decision yet -- but it seems like a no-brainer. (TMZ)

Bill Maher Says the N-Word on Real Time and Sparks Controversy. Comedian Bill Maher offended scores of people by uttering a racial slur while making a joke on HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher and became the top Twitter trending topic Saturday morning. The host interviewed Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska Friday. The political leader was promoting his book The Vanishing American Adult and the two discussed the maturity of people, namely younger people. Maher said that in California adults dress up for Halloween. Sasse said this is "frowned upon" in his own state. "I've got to get to Nebraska more," Maher said. "You're welcome," Sasse replied. "We'd love to have you work in the fields with us." "Work in the fields? Senator, I'm a house n----," Maher said, raising his hands and drawing groans and laughs from the audience, while Sasse laughed uncomfortably. "No, it's a joke," Maher said. The two went on to discuss politics as usual. "For @billmaher to just use that word and play it off as a joke on air shows me his real colors. #FireBillMaher," wrote user @Dexter_A_Taylor. "But really, @BillMaher has got to go. There are no explanations that make this acceptable," tweeted DeRay Mckesson, a Black Lives Matter movement activist. Some people defended Maher. HBO later released a statement, saying, "Bill Maher's comment last night was completely inexcusable and tasteless. We are removing his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show," according to Philly.com. Meanwhile, Sasse took to Twitter Saturday morning to offer his belated thoughts. "Am walking off a redeye from LAX. 3 reflections on @billmaher 1. I'm a 1st Amendment absolutist. Comedians get latitude to cross hard lines," he tweeted. "But free speech comes with a responsibility to speak up when folks use that word. Me just cringing last night wasn't good enough." "Here's what I wish I'd been quick enough to say in the moment: 'Hold up, why would you think it's OK to use that word? The history of the n-word is an attack on universal human dignity. It's therefore an attack on the American Creed. Don't use it,'" he wrote. (Eonline)

Chance the Rapper Urges HBO to Cancel Bill Maher's Show Amid N-Word Controversy. Chance the Rapper has joined scores of people who have called on HBO to cancel Bill Maher's show for uttering a racial slur. The comedian and host had said the N-word during an interview with a Republican senator on Real Time With Bill Maher Friday and immediately then told the audience it was a joke. His remarks spurred him to trend on Twitter and many called for HBO to fire him. "Please @HBO Do Not Air Another Episode Of Real Time With Bill Maher," Chance the Rapper wrote Saturday in a tweet that has been retweeted more than 6,500 times. Maher, who also hosted the late-night Comedy Central talk show Politically Incorrect in the '90s and early '00s, has not responded to the backlash over his comment. HBO said in a statement that the host's remark "was completely inexcusable and tasteless." "We are removing his deeply offensive comment from any subsequent airings of the show," the premium cable network added. Some people have defended Maher. "Just saw @billmaher 'racist joke' and I have to say...f--k everybody who's pissed," tweeted fellow comic and former Titus star Christopher Titus. "Comedians save us, jokes. politicians kill us. Wars, laws." (Eonline)

Bill Maher Says He's ''Very Sorry'' After Using the N-Word on HBO's Real Time. Comedian Bill Maher is all apologies.... After outraging masses of people on social media by uttering the N-word on HBO's Real Time With Bill Maher, the 61-year-old has apologized. In a statement given to E! News, Maher said, "Friday nights are always my worst night of sleep because I'm up reflecting on the things I should or shouldn't have said on my live show." "Last night was a particularly long night as I regret the word I used in the banter of a live moment. The word was offensive and I regret saying it and am very sorry," he continued. A rep for Maher told Variety, that the political comic is traveling and will not make any further comments. However, he is still slated to do comedy performance at Indianapolis' Murat Theater on Sunday. On Friday night, the host got himself into some hot water when he was interviewing Republican Senator Ben Sasse of Nebraska. The political leader was promoting his book The Vanishing American Adult and the two men discussed the maturity of people, namely younger people. Maher said that in California adults dress up for Halloween. Sasse said this is "frowned upon" in his own state. "I've got to get to Nebraska more," Maher said. "You're welcome," Sasse replied. Senator, I'm a house n----," Maher said, raising his hands and drawing groans and laughs from the audience, while Sasse laughed uncomfortably. "No, it's a joke," Maher said. But not everyone was laughing. The comments drew irate reactions on Twitter, many calling for Maher to be fired from his hosting gig on the controversial show. Kathy Griffin Gets the AX from last Theater in Comedy Tour. Kathy Griffin's offensive against Donald Trump Friday apparently fell on deaf ears ... because the only remaining venue that would allow her to perform has just pulled the plug. We've learned Kathy's concert at the Uptown Theatre in Napa scheduled for June 17 has been canceled. This follows 6 other cancelations, including bergenPAC in New Jersey which canceled hours before Kathy's news conference. The Uptown Theatre cancelation is especially significant because the decision was apparently made after she took the mic with her lawyer. The Uptown folks said on Wednesday the show would go on, but they clearly had a change of heart. (TMZ)

Kathy Griffin feels 'betrayed' by Anderson Cooper after CNN firing. While Kathy Griffin continues her sympathy crusade after weathering a storm of criticism for her terrible Trump severed-head photo, sources say she's seething about how Anderson Cooper dropped her from his CNN New Year's Eve broadcast like a hot potato. Sources said Griffin had expected CNN "golden boy" Cooper to stand by her, but the news network swiftly announced she was fired from the NYE broadcast with Cooper, which they've done together for 10 years. TV insiders say respected newsman Cooper had no choice but to condemn Griffin's disturbing photo shoot, in which she held up a faux severed and bloody head of President Trump. After the controversial image of Griffin went viral, sparking widespread backlash, Cooper tweeted, "For the record, I am appalled by the photo shoot Kathy Griffin took part in. It is clearly disgusting and completely inappropriate." But a source said, "Kathy totally misjudged this. She truly believed that Anderson would stick up for her. She considered him a friend. While she has nobody to blame but herself, she feels somehow betrayed." Griffin appeared in a tearful press conference on Friday where she sobbed of Trump: "He broke me." No word about Cooper. The buzz at CNN is that Cooper could use the opportunity of Griffin's firing to bring his longtime buddy, Bravo's "Watch What Happens Live" star Andy Cohen, into his NYE broadcast. Cohen also hosts "Love Connection" on Fox. The source said, "Anderson wants Andy to co-host with him. They are already doing a multi-city tour together, they are besties and have a great rapport." Cohen revealed that they were set up on a blind date in the early '90s, but Cooper says Cohen blew it during their initial phone call by being "too enthusiastic." They were later introduced by mutual friends in LA and their platonic bromance blossomed. But sources add that Cohen "may have some contractual problems to overcome" with Bravo before he can appear on CNN with Cooper. Reps for Bravo, Cohen and CNN declined to comment. (PageSix)

Donnie Wahlberg's not afraid of terrorists ... and he's doing his best to get fans on the same page. Donnie and the rest of "New Kids on the Block" performed Friday night at the Hollywood Bowl, and Wahlberg took a moment to spread a message of peace and love ... and being fearless in the face of terrorists. There was good reason to feel safe at the Bowl -- security was everywhere. Checkpoints at entrances were fortified as bomb-sniffing dogs patrolled the venue. All venues are on high alert following the Manchester bombing, but there was a false bomb scare at the Hollywood Bowl Wednesday night during a Dead & Company show ... so security there was especially strong. Liam Payne's "Strip That Down" Music Video Leaks Ahead of Release: "Sorry Guys." Liam Payne's newest music video has hit a bump in the digital road. Just hours before the One Direction crooner was set to release his first solo music video for his single, "Strip That Down," the star took to Twitter to reveal he had been stripped of the opportunity to properly debut it. "Sorry guys someone leaked the video," he confirmed on Twitter. 'It will be live again at 7.30pm BST look forward to you seeing it then!" Meanwhile, fans online mused the video may have been accidentally set to air online at the wrong time. Regardless of the technical issues, his followers assured the 23-year-old they were going to watch no matter what time the video officially comes out. "Don't worry Liam. We're gonna love it no matter what," one fan tweeted in encouragement. In the meantime, fans can set their alarms and grab their iPhones as the video will stream on YouTube at 7:30pm BTS and the singer will appear live from London to answer fan questions. The new dad teamed up with Migos' Quavo for the song and co-wrote the track with Steve Mac and Ed Sheeran. While he may be spreading his wings outside of his teenage group, he is surfing the same musical waves as fellow 1D bandmate, Zayn Malik, who also took on the hip-hop/R&B genre in his first solo project. "Getting to write with people like Ed is one of the most amazing things a person can do," he said during an interview on BBC Radio 2's The Chris Evans Breakfast Show. "I'm humbled that Ed even took a second of his time," he continued, "let alone spending hours with him to write the song." "I've been working hard in the studio for over a year and I'm really excited to share this new music with my amazing fans. I've come a long way since our One Direction debut and I hope everyone likes my new sound as much as I do," Payne told E! News in a statement Friday. "2017 has been a big year for me already and I'm looking forward to what the rest of it will bring." (Eonline)

Fifth Harmony Releases Their First Single Without Camila Cabello: Listen to "Down" Now. We are so down for some new Fifth Harmony music. After plenty of suspense and excitement, Normani Kordei, Dinah Jane, Lauren Jauregui, and Ally Brooke Hernandez delivered their first single without Camila Cabello late Thursday night. Titled "Down," the hot new track features Gucci Mane and is already climbing the charts. You can listen and purchase the track on iTunes now. The new music comes as the ladies of Fifth Harmony have been teasing exciting news for their fans on social media. Back in January, the X-Factor alumni posted a photo from the music studio with the caption "bounce back." And during recent award shows, the ladies have promised their followers that the wait for new music will be worth it. "I want to thank our families. Our team, our team, our team, some amazing people," Lauren shared at the 2017 People's Choice Awards. "We love you guys. So much to come so stay tuned." Soon after, Dinah would get Harmonizers even more excited with a tease at the iHeartRadio Music Awards. "Y'all have been working so hard and we have been working just as hard," she shared. "We are sure to make you all so proud. Y'all stay tuned for new music." On Friday morning, Fifth Harmony is scheduled to hit Good Morning America's Summer Concert Series where they will perform their new song "Down" as well as the fan-favorite "Work From Home." As for former member Camila, she remains focused on her solo career. Earlier this month, the 20-year-old dropped two songs including "Crying in the Club." The song -- off her album, The Hurting, the Healing, the Loving -- was written by Benny Blanco, Camila and Sia. Benny produced the song with Matt Beckley, Cashmere Cat and Happy Perez. (Eonline)

Fifth Harmony accused of ripping off new song. Fifth Harmony dropped its highly anticipated first single since Camila Cabello departed the group, and the track is already making headlines for the wrong reasons. The foursome released "Down," featuring Gucci Mane, on Friday and have since been accused on social media of ripping off Terror Jr's song "Come First." Upon the track's release, Terror Jr took to Twitter to respond to the alleged similarities. "ur . . favorite . . pop . . star . . just . . ripped . . us . . off . . because . . they . . are . . goldfish . . & . . we . . are . . not," the trio tweeted. Fifth Harmony performed the track on "Good Morning America" Friday. None of the singers has commented about the reported similarities on social media, but fans of both groups have spoken out. "Same tempo. Same melody. Same beat. Only difference is the key," noted one Twitter user. "I mean... Facts are facts lol. It's a rip," tweeted another. Some Harmonizers defended the girl group. "They're still really different. Different drums and all, the first ones more moody and dark and Down is islandy and fun," tweeted a 5H fan. "They don't sound the same at all," added another user. A rep for Fifth Harmony did not immediately return a request for comment. (PageSix)

So Will.i.am kinda confirmed that Fergie has left the Black Eyed Peas for good. Will.i.am has confirmed in a recent interview that Fergie has left the Black Eyed Peas for good. Although the group have been away from the limelight these last couple of years, their catchy songs make for great throwbacks and always get people pumped (pun intended). But it seems the Black Eye Peas are ready for a new adventure. Will said: "Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we've always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us. People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album ... Obviously Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like 'Let's Get it Started' it's Noelle [Scaggs], and then Fergie, songs like 'Latin Girls' it's Debi Nova, and 'Request Line' it's Macy Gray". "We'll always work with good females" - he added. Is it just us or this sounds a little salty? Fergie was definitely a major part of why we loved the Black Eyed Peas. At least, Will.i.am did say she was irreplaceable: "As for replacing, what people know The Black Eyed Peas to be, nobody is replacing Fergie. She's working on her solo project at the moment". Fergie had been pursuing a very successful solo career on the side since 2006 but never confirmed leaving her original group. The singer is currently working on the Double Dutchess album that will be released later this year - and if M.I.L.F.$ is any indication of how it's going to turn out, you know it's bound to be good! As for will.i.am, apl.de.ap and Taboo they have a new project on the works: "We're on this brand-new experience, celebrating 20 years of Black Eyed Peas putting out music". (British Glamour)

Will.i.am Clarifies Fergie Is Not Out of the Black Eyed Peas After All. The Black Eyed Peas member will.i.am clarified Friday that despite a recent report, Fergie is not out of the group. She has not commented. "Lies...@Fergie is focusing on #DoubleDutchess & @BEP is doing #MastersOfTheSun...That doesn't mean @fergie is out of the group #BEP4ever," he tweeted. The English-language UAE entertainment news magazine Ahlan! had reported Thursday that he, Taboo and apl.de.ap spoke to the outlet recently, that Fergie has left the band and that will.i.am explained the "situation" by saying, "Since the beginning of Black Eyed Peas, we've always had amazing vocalists that appeared on the mic with us. People like Macy Gray, Esthero, Debi Nova, Fergie. On Elephunk, there were several females that appeared on that album. Obviously Fergie was the featured female, but on songs like 'Let's Get it Started,' it's Noelle [Scaggs], and then Fergie, songs like 'Latin Girls,' it's Debi Nova, and 'Request Line,' it's Macy Gray. We'll always work with good females." Will.i.am also told the outlet "nobody is replacing Fergie," who is "working on her solo project at the moment." The singer has not recorded new music with the Black Eyed Peas in more than five years, opting to concentrate on her solo career. She last performed with the group at the 2015 Coachella Valley Music and Arts Festival. The Black Eyed Peas are currently working on a new project without Fergie and are not expected to perform with her Sunday at the One Love Manchester concert, benefiting the families of the victims of last month's suicide bombing. Ron Howard to direct documentary on Pavarotti. Following his successful Beatles documentary, Ron Howard is sticking with music. The Oscar winner is directing a documentary about Luciano Pavarotti, the Italian tenor who rose to superstar status. Howard's Imagine Entertainment and White Horse Pictures announced the untitled project Thursday. Pavarotti transcended opera to become a leading tenor. Howard says Pavarotti's life is full of great drama and contradictions. The tenor became a best-selling classical artist, with more than 100 million records sold, and he had the first classical album to reach No. 1 on the pop charts. He died from pancreatic cancer in 2007 at age 71. The untitled documentary does not have a release date. Howard's last film, "The Beatles: Eight Days A Week-The Touring Years," won the Grammy Award for best music film. (PageSix)

PETA Calls On Jerry Bruckheimer to End Wild Animal Use On-Set. The ask to the Hollywood producer follows a media report that a monkey on the set of 'Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales' repeatedly vomited. Following a British tabloid report that a capuchin monkey repeatedly vomited on the set of Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, People for the Ethical Treatment of Animals on Friday urged producer Jerry Bruckheimer to commit to never using monkeys or other wild animals in his movies again. The animal rights group instead urged Bruckheimer and The Walt Disney Company to use computer-generated imagery to depict animals in scenes. "Dead men may tell no tales, but reports of capuchins vomiting uncontrollably and biting a makeup artist on the Pirates of the Caribbean set speak for themselves," PETA senior vp Colleen O'Brien said in a statement. Disney did not respond to a request for comment. "PETA is calling on the film's producers to wise up, join the modern age of computer-generated imagery, and stop forcing sensitive wild animals to perform on camera," she added. The 2015 shoot for the latest release from the Pirates of the Caribbean franchise included two capuchin monkeys from California being shipped to Australia to serve as the pet for Barbossa, played by Geoffrey Rush. PETA said it warned the Pirates of the Caribbean filmmakers that the sensitive capuchin monkeys would suffer in transit to Australia, and claimed that animal supplier Joe Suffredini of Avian Entertainment in the past has violated the federal Animal Welfare Act. "Some of his U.S. Department of Agriculture citations are for having filthy and inadequate enclosures, failing to supply adequate environmental enrichment, and not having an adequate program of veterinary care," the animal rights group said of Suffredini. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales, which hit theaters on May 26, again follows Johnny Depp as Captain Jack Sparrow in another swashbuckling adventure. The movie, directed by Joachim Ronning and Espen Sandberg, also stars Orlando Bloom and Geoffrey Rush, along with series newcomers Javier Bardem, Brenton Thwaites and Kaya Scodelario. 'Captain Underpants' and the New Push to Make Cheaper Animated Movies. Outsourced to Canada with a budget of just $38 ?million, DreamWorks Animation's film is a radical experiment in low-cost studio animation. Is it the future? Of the top 50 biggest films from the last 15 years, 12 have been animated -- nearly a quarter -- including billion-dollar blockbusters Frozen, Minions and Toy Story 3. But despite the lack of such hefty budget items as actor profit participation deals and far-flung physical production, CGI cartoon features come with their own steep production price tags. Even at Illumination Entertainment, the Comcast/NBCUniversal studio behind the Minions movies, boss Chris Meledandri is known for keeping animation costs in check. The studio's latest release, Sing, cost $75 million to produce at the company's Paris-based facility, Illumination Mac Guff. Still, that total is a lot less than for recent pictures produced by DreamWorks Animation (acquired by Comcast/NBCUniversal in 2016): Hit films Trolls and The Boss Baby each had reported budgets of $125 million, while Kung Fu Panda 3 and How to Train Your Dragon 2 each cost $145 million. Films from rival Pixar Animation Studios can cost up to $200 million. But when the latest film from DreamWorks Animation, Captain Underpants: The First Epic Movie, bows June 2, it will be a bold experiment in a new studio model. THR has learned that the movie, which is based on the children's book series by Dav Pilkey and follows two fourth graders (voiced by Kevin Hart and Thomas Middleditch) who accidentally turn their mean school principal (Ed Helms) into a bumbling superhero, was made for just $38 million. The exploration of lower production costs was announced by then-CEO Jeffrey Katzenberg in January 2015 as part of a corporate restructuring plan that included reducing the studio's head count by roughly 500, slashing its feature slate to two films per year and outsourcing work on Captain Underpants so that it could "be produced at a significantly lower cost." The bet looks to be paying off with the film, which will be the last DreamWorks Animation title to be distributed by 20th Century Fox, tracking to open at about $25 million in North America. Mireille Soria, who produced Captain Underpants with Mark Swift, says the decision to make the film at the Montreal facility of Mikros Animation, which is headquartered in Paris, was influenced by cost control as well as a capacity crunch at DreamWorks' own animation studio, where The Boss Baby and Trolls were both underway. Mikros, which was acquired by Technicolor in 2015, also worked on Netflix's The Little Prince and Gkids' Mune: Guardian of the Moon. Swift adds that the Captain Underpants material was the right fit for this model, since it is "a relatively simple movie in the sense that it doesn't have crazy effects, dragons, the sea. We came up with a budget that was appropriate for what we needed." There was a straightforward division of labor (and lots of video conferencing) between DreamWorks Animation and Mikros, says director David Soren, who also helmed Turbo for DreamWorks Animation. "Story, art, layout and editorial were all handled at DWA in Glendale with a small crew, and then Mikros did all the animation, lighting, effects -- basically everything on the CG side," explains Soren. "Creatively, it went really well," he notes. "We created a look that would be cost-effective but also suit the material. Dav Pilkey's work is heavily stylized and cartoony in nature. He was very influenced by Peanuts, and I was, too." Soren also incorporated non-CG mixed media for some sequences told from the point of view of 9-year-olds. "To get in their headspace, we went to the comic book style to make it look like fourth graders made the animation. We also used sock puppets and combined 2D and 3D to make a version of their flip-book sketches." But what really helped keep costs low, says Soren, was "a commitment from the studio to lock down the story early and not tinker with it too much." That meant once they entered the more costly animation production process, there were limited changes. By contrast, Pixar is known to tinker with films throughout production and start over if needed. Captain Underpants also was finished on a fast schedule, even though Soren came onboard after original director Rob Letterman started the live-action feature Goosebumps. When Soren joined the project, he had a few script drafts from screenwriter Nicholas Stoller, and art and character design already were in place. The film was finished two years later, which is quick by major animation studio standards. DreamWorks Animation, too, went through a transformation during production, but Soren says, "[Universal chair] Donna Langley really liked the movie and embraced it, and then Chris DeFaria [who was named DWA CEO in January] came in during the last few months, and he really dug it." With Pilkey's 12-book series to draw from for more material, DreamWorks Animation wants, in success, to make additional films based on the characters. The larger question is whether it will attempt another major release with this outsourced and low-cost process. "It remains to be seen," admits Soria. "It's a new era." (Hollywood Reporter)

'Days of Our Lives' star to return after leukemia battle. Kassie DePaiva is now cancer-free, and that means it's time for "Days of Our Lives'" Eve to start mixing it up in Salem again. The actress, who last appeared onscreen in February 2016, had planned a return to the NBC soap later that year but had to take a leave of absence last summer following a diagnosis of acute myeloid leukemia. "I consider this just a bump in the road," she wrote on her blog at the time. "I have amazing prayer warriors, family, and friends that have been extremely supportive and life-affirming throughout this." In February, the "One Life to Live" alum announced some good news via social media: "Today is #WorldCancerDay, and I am grateful to say I am cancer-free." Per Soap Opera Digest, DePaiva is now filming episodes of the long-running daytime drama. Those episodes are slated to air in late September. (PageSix)

The Amazing Race Finale: And the Winning Team Is . . . The Amazing Race has two new winners, though they're not quite who most of us expected. Brooke Camhi and Scott Flanaryjust dominated the entire finale to come out on top, with "Mom and Dad" Tara and Joey coming in second, and Logan and London coming in third after a race around Chicago. While Scott and Brooke were obviously thrilled at this outcome, many fans do not seem so happy. Scott and Brooke had a rather difficult time getting along all season, which is to be expected when all the teams are made up of complete strangers, but it made the pair a little bit hard to watch. Brooke and Scott even acknowledged this in their winning speeches. "Brooke and I were very different people, but we wanted the same outcome," Scott said after crossing the finishline. "We were both very passionate to be standing on this red carpet here today, so whatever it took to be here was what we were going to do." "There are so many people who I may have had more in common with, but I wouldn't have been successful with," Brooke added. "As much as we bickered or got frustrated together, we shared something that most people never get to share." Meanwhile, throughout the finale, we received multiple texts to the tune of "I am SO angry!!!" The majority of reactions on Twitter were also less than enthused. Do you think the right team won? Sound off in the comments or hit us up at @eonlineTV. The Amazing Race airs on CBS. (Eonline)
