California dreaming? Plan for pavement project on westbound Interstate 8 west of Dateland

Drivers heading to Yuma or Southern California should plan for lane restrictions on Interstate 8 beginning next week. Crews from the Arizona Department of Transportation are scheduled to complete a pavement-preservation and repair project on westbound I-8 between Dateland and Mohawk.

Beginning Monday, Aug. 28, and continuing to Tuesday, Sept. 12, westbound I-8 will be narrowed to one lane between milepost 66 and milepost 55 from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Mondays-Thursdays. No work is scheduled on Fridays, weekends or over the Labor Day holiday weekend.

Drivers should slow down, use caution and watch for construction personnel and equipment in the work zone.

Schedules are subject to change based on weather and other unforeseen factors. For more information, please call the ADOT Project Information Line at 855.712.8530 or email Projects@azdot.gov. For real-time highway conditions statewide, visit ADOT’s Traveler Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow ADOT on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.
