The Beyhive Is on High Alert Over Speculation That Beyonce Has Gone Into Labor. Has Beyonce finally gone into labor for the arrival of her twins? No one can really confirm anything because Queen B and Jay Zdo an excellent job of making sure absolutely nothing about their lives is leaked to the public (cue the surprise Beyonce visual album drop). Peta Murgatroyd's Intense Wedding Workout Revealed: How Maksim Chmerkovskiy's Fiancee Is Getting Into Shape. Peta Murgatroyd is shedding for the wedding. With only weeks left until the Dancing With the Stars pro marries Maksim Chmerkovskiy, it's no wonder Peta is kicking her fitness routine into overdrive. Whether you're an avid reader of the incredibly toned athlete's All Things Fam and Glam blog or one of her many Instagram followers, you'll understand when we say Murgatroyd is going hard in the gym before the big day. So what does it take to look as fab as this bride-to-be only five months after giving birth? Well, E! News caught up with Peta's trainer Tim Hartwig, a strength and conditioning coach who works primarily with athletes in Los Angeles. Hartwig says he's prepping Peta with the same techniques clients like Rashad Jennings use before football season starts, and it's nothing short of intense. Seven weeks before becoming a Mrs., Peta began working out three days a week with Hartwig and two days a week on her own. Tim says the Australian stunner's goal is to "maximize fat loss" and achieve a "nice, lean look" through a mix of healthy nutrition and fitness. That involves teaching Murgatroyd "how to balance her diet" with increased water and protein intake as well as introducing healthy carbs like brown rice, quinoa and sweet potatoes into her meals. According to Tim, Peta has also limited her alcohol consumption "as much as possible," but encourages the reality TV star to eat three meals a day and two snacks. He told us, "You need to stimulate the metabolism... We're doing the opposite of what most people do and seeing that eating more is beneficial." He recommends eliminating carbs in the evening, eating chicken or fish for dinner and snacking on cashews or an avocado throughout the day. When Peta's sweet tooth strikes, he says a cup of strawberries is a perfect option for a light-night desert. And good news! Hartwig believes in the power of a cheat meal "every now and then" to avoid pesky cravings and "eating the same thing over and over." Peta's fitness guru shares that despite his famous client having a "goal weight" in mind, he's working with the 30-year-old on distancing herself from a number on the scale. "What we are really focusing on is eliminating the scale," he explains. "She has not weighed herself this entire time throughout the program, which is not normal for a female, but I love it!" he adds. "It's about how her clothes are fitting... We aren't focusing on the scale. We are basing it on how she looks and feels." There's no doubt about it! Peta looks absolutely incredible. We can't wait to see the blushing bride's wedding day glam, which will surely include a bronze courtesy of her Peta Jane tanning products. (Eonline)

How Brad Paisley keeps his kids 'normal'. Brad Paisley is one of country music's biggest stars, but he takes steps to keep his kids' lives as "normal" as possible. Paisley, 44, tells Page Six he wouldn't let his sons see him play at the recent CMA Fest in Nashville because, "They're young, but more than that, I think you have to be careful with your kids ... There would be nothing more abnormal than marching them down here [to CMA Fest] in the middle of this." Paisley has two sons -- William Huckleberry, 10, and Jasper Warren, 8 -- with wife Kimberly Williams-Paisley. "They've seen [crowds] at concerts, but they still think I'm a dork," he said. "It's fine. It's a weird combo. They think I'm a dork, but they think I'm cool." Paisley closed out the massive music festival with a performance on Sunday night and he is also hosting the 51st annual CMA Awards in November. (PageSix)

Todd Fisher: Taylor Lautner has "acted like a husband" to Billie Lourd since her Mother's death. Carrie Fisher's brother shared his approval. Billie Lourd's uncle, Todd Fisher, has praised Billie's boyfriend Taylor Lautner for his behavior following Carrie Fisher's tragic death. Following Billie's mother's death in December 2016, Twilight star Taylor has been stuck to Billie's side, supporting the young actress during her grief. And it seems the pair's partnership has received a blessing from Todd Fisher. Speaking exclusively to E! News, ahead of a screening of Bright Lights (a documentary about the family) Todd said he was initially a bit suspicious of Taylor: "As any uncle, you're suspicious of the guy hanging around your niece," he admitted. "She's cute and all that. She's had other boyfriends, good boyfriends, but I'm certainly going to give that guy the extra look-over." However, Todd was quickly convinced: "The truth of the matter is, the guy is pretty spectacular. He's a really deep person, and he has supported her amazingly." He even commented that Taylor "stepped up and acted like a husband would act." "Not that that's what's going on, but it's just an amazing support system for her, and I'm glad he's in her life," Todd continued. Billie and Taylor have been dating since last year, when the Scream Queens co-stars were spotted sharing an off-screen kiss. The 24-year-old actress and her beau then began posting the CUTEST photos of the two of them. It seems as though the Twilight star has been a real rock for the actress following the recent tragedies in her family, and we couldn't be happier for them. (British Glamour)

Anthony Michael Hall Spills Some Secrets About the '80s Brat Pack, Including Which Member Got "Laid" the Most. This member of The Breakfast Club is spilling the tea. Anthony Michael Hall, a notable figure of the '80s Brat Pack, stopped by Watch What Happens Live With Andy Cohen to share some secrets about the iconic group during a juicy round of "Plead the Fifth." First up, "Marry, Shag, Kill" with his former co-stars, Molly Ringwald, Ally Sheedy and Demi Moore. Of the three, the 49-year-old decided he would marry Moore and shag Sheedy. "I love you Molly, but I'd have to kill you," he quipped. He and Ringwald starred in both The Breakfast Club and Sixteen Candles together and reportedly briefly dated. While they rose to meteoric fame with roles in a handful of now iconic 1980s coming-of-age films, there's one movie Hall thinks was overrated at the time -- St. Elmo's Fire. "I liked it, but...," he said. Hall did not star in the 1985 film, but appeared in The Breakfast Club that same year. As for who got "laid" the most, Hall claims that title belongs to his co-star Judd Nelson. Outside of the Brat Pack, the actor also has fond memories of working with Madonna on Saturday Night Live. "I just thought she was hot and I was very surprised how petite she was," he recalled. "But very focused and very sexy." "She had a lot of presence -- a lot of fire." (Eonline)

Amanda Stanton Addresses Mom Shamers Amid Bachelor in Paradise Scandal. While Bachelor in Paradise remains a controversial topic since production of the fourth season was suspended, contestant Amanda Stanton is responding to backlash about her parenting. The 27-year-old former Bachelor contestant, who subsequently appeared on the third season of Bachelor in Paradise and returned for this year's fourth, issued a lengthy statement on her Instagram page late Tuesday regarding her life as a mother of two. "I don't normally like to address the trolls/mom shamers ... but it's so out of control!" she began in the message posted to her Instagram Story. "I'd like to take a moment to clarify first of all that my kids DO have a father that is part of their life. They spend time with him too. So if you see a photo of me without my kids one weekend and comment something like 'mother of the year' or 'wow shouldn't she be with her kids?' Well, there's a VERY good chance that I can't be with them because they're with their dad." Stanton and her ex-husband of three years, Nick Buonfiglio, share daughters Charlie and Kinsley. Stanton continued to say Bachelor in Paradise takes "a lot less" time to film than the two months it airs. "Alllllll the other days, weeks and months of the year, I am with them!" she assured. "I understand that most parents don't go on reality TV shows ... but everyone's lives are different," she concluded. "My kids are my entire world. I am doing my best to give them a great life." After being eliminated on season 20 of The Bachelor, the reality star found love with Josh Murray on Bachelor in Paradise 2016 and accepted his proposal. However, they broke up in 2017, and the fallout of their split played out publicly in the press. In addition to parenting critics, Stanton also responded to body shamers on Twitter, retorting, "I def don't starve myself and am a healthy weight for my height/size. You body shamers are psycho." By Wednesday, Stanton noticed the impact of her message. "Had an overwhelming response to my post yesterday!" she wrote on Instagram on Wednesday. "I read through almost all of my DM's and just wanted to say thank you all for being so supportive & kind." She was cast to return to Bachelor in Paradise this season, but subsequently left Mexico like the other castmembers after filming was suddenly suspended. "We have become aware of allegations of misconduct on the set of Bachelor in Paradise in Mexico," Warner Bros. said in a statement. "We have suspended production and we are conducting a thorough investigation of these allegations. Once the investigation is complete, we will take appropriate responsive action." (Eonline)

Martin William Paves filed docs earlier this week but it appears the marriage had been on the rocks for some time -- he lists the date of separation as June 20, 2016. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Martin cites irreconcilable differences. He is requesting Ken pay spousal support. They got married March 2012 and have no children. Ken owns a super trendy salon in WeHo and has a hand in several other businesses. He's also made cameos in movies with Jessica Simpson and J Lo. (TMZ)

Judge Judy's son ended a 4 year long ordeal to clear his name in a defamation lawsuit against Putnam County's Sheriff. Adam Levy, the former D.A. in Putnam County, NY, reached a settlement with Sheriff Don Smith that requires Smith to fork over $150k, and issue a full retraction for statements he made back in 2013. Smith was investigating Alexandru Hossu for an alleged rape of a 13-year-old girl ... and accused then D.A. Levy of harboring Hossu, an illegal immigrant. He also insinuated that Levy used his power as D.A. to interfere with the investigation. Smith had to issue a written apology in which he admits his statements were untrue -- "Mr. Hossu did not then reside at your home. He was arrested at another location where he then lived. I know that you did not interfere with the investigation of Mr. Hossu. Nor is there any evidence that you had any knowledge of Mr. Hossu's immigration status or were intentionally harboring an illegal alien." Levy has said Smith went after him purely to push a political agenda. No offense to Adam, but we think Judge Judy might have put it better -- "Don't piss on my leg and tell me it's raining!" BTW ... Hossu, who was acquitted of the alleged rape, has since filed a $45 million lawsuit against Putnam County ... and that case is ongoing. (TMZ)

Shannen Doherty's husband appears to have scored a settlement in his suit against her ex-managers over her breast cancer diagnosis ... which makes the couple 2 for 2 in court. Kurt Iswarienko requested to dismiss the entire case against Shannen's ex-management team -- Tanner Mainstain Glynn & Johnson ... according to new legal docs. This is typically a sure sign the parties reached a settlement, although there's no mention of a dollar amount. We broke the story ... Kurt filed his own lawsuit in December on the heels of Shannen settling her $15 million suit. He claimed their sex life was ruined and the firm mismanaged his funds. More good news for the couple -- Shannen revealed her cancer is in remission in April. (TMZ)

Playboy model Katie May literally died at the hands of a chiropractor who had no idea what the hell he was doing and suspiciously tried to hide it ... so claims her estate in a wrongful death lawsuit. Alex Maimon -- the executor of Katie's estate and father of their 8-year-old daughter, Mia Eden -- is suing Dr. Eric Marc Swartz. In the docs, obtained by TMZ, Maimon says a reasonable chiropractor would never have given Katie the "aggressive neck adjustment" that ultimately caused her death in February 2016. Ronald Richards, the estate's lawyer, says Swartz should have sent Katie to the hospital for a CT scan instead of treating her ... given the severity of a neck injury she'd suffered during a photo shoot. TMZ broke the story ... the coroner determined Katie's cause of death stemmed from a chiropractor's adjustment -- a blunt force injury tore her left vertebral artery, and cut off blood flow to her brain. According to the suit, Swartz wrote Katie's patient report 4 days after she died. Her estate thinks it's fishy he didn't write it immediately, and ... "it begs the question whether Swartz went back to change his report after he was notified May was hospitalized and died because of his treatment." Katie's estate is suing for malpractice and negligence ... as well as wrongful death. We've reached out to Swartz's office, but so far no word back. (TMZ)

YouTube Star Austin Jones Arrested on Child Pornography Charges. Austin Jones was arrested Monday night on child pornography charges, E! News can confirm. The YouTube star, who has amassed more than 500,000 subscribers for his acapella covers of pop music, was charged with two counts of production of child pornography. Jones, 24, will appear in court for a detention hearing on Wednesday. According to the Chicago Sun-Times (who was first to report the news), he will remain in federal custody until then because, according to prosecutors, the pop singer is a "risk to the community and there's a danger he'll flee." If convicted, Austin faces a minimum of 15 years in prison. Austin's own renditions of songs from artists like Justin Bieber, Twenty One Pilots and Fall Out Boy have amassed upwards of 25 million views since starting his YouTube page in 2007. According to his Instagram, which boasts more than 300,000 followers, Jones was previously on tour and recently performed in Poland. The Illinois native is no stranger to controversy and in 2015, Jones issued an apology over allegations that he lied about his age to solicit "twerking" videos from underage girls. "I'm embarrassed," Jones shared in a lengthy statement via Facebook. "I'd have conversations online with girls that would involve me asking them to create a video of themselves twerking. Sometimes I'd make videos of myself doing some twerk moves in return. Here's the truth: I NEVER asked them to do anything more than send a twerking video. Nothing EVER went beyond that." He also said, "I've been in therapy, seeking help to discover why I communicated with my fans in a way that I have come to fully realize was not appropriate." "To anyone that I have made feel uncomfortable or awkward, I am deeply sorry for the hurt and shame I may have caused you," Jones continued. It's unclear if legal action was brought against the internet personality for this incident. Jones has yet to comment on his arrest. E! News has reached out for comment. (Eonline)

Legal crisis and media manager Wendy Feldman is working with the 2015 Playmate of the Year, Dani Mathers. The former Playboy model was charged with misdemeanor invasion of privacy and sentenced on Wednesday, May 24, after sharing a naked picture of a 71-year-old woman on Snapchat at an LA Fitness gym last July. "Dani is now in a new phase of her case -- probation -- and I will, as I often do, guide her through that and also handle all of her media decisions and direction," Feldman exclusively tells Us Weekly. "Often, when a person needs to rebuild their image, I am called in to help them turn things around." Feldman -- who has worked with celebrities such as rapper Mike G, Kelly Rutherford, Courtney Wagner and Victor Weir -- explains to Us: "It's very important to me that my clients take their apologies seriously ... I want clients like Dani to use their platforms to really help people and shine a light where there may be darkness." As Us previously reported, the Bold and the Beautiful alum was ordered to serve 30 days of community service -- cleaning up graffiti -- and three years of probation. "I'm always shocked judges don't order community service that can help people. In fact, Dani received community labor. "Luckily, she has a long history of working with different organizations," Feldman states. "I really look forward to what we can do together and how people will see the Dani I now know." (US Weekly)

In honor of Omaze's latest charity campaign, Ben Stiller's signature Dodgeball character and the Globo Gym Purple Cobras are preparing to face off against the Average Joes, led by Peter LaFleur (Vince Vaughn). "Sorry to interrupt your Internet life, but for the last 13 years while I 've been living a sugar-free, protein-forward lifestyle, I've watched as all of you have gotten fatter and dumber with your hashtags and your BAEs and your Kanyes," Stiller said in character. "Everyone is so PC now. Even good old-fashioned bullying is out. Well, White Goodman has decided to get with the times." As Goodman announced, "It's time for a little charity dodgeball, b--ches." As part of the initiative, anyone interested can donate at least $10 to play with either team. "One of you lucky losers and probably your only friend can come test your dodgeball medal against the best baller in the biz," Goodman confidently quipped. Oprah Winfrey Throws the Wonder Woman Party to End All Wonder Woman Parties. It's official: Oprah Winfrey throws the best theme parties. In a series of Instagram videos Tuesday, she gave her 9.6 million followers an inside look at a very special soiree. "So excited 'cause what it's Wonder Woman day in my house," she said. "I'm having a party for 28 10-year-olds and Tiana just brought the cake from Charm City Cakes." Winfrey then offered to fasten the top -- made in the superheroine's image -- to the cake's base. "I'm going to help you put it on, OK?" she told the employee. "This is a crowning moment!" In her signature singsong voice, she added, "Wonder Womaaaaaan! Happy Wonder Woman day!" A specialty cake wasn't enough for Winfrey, as she proudly showed off her Wonder Woman-themed popcorn buckets. "And guess what?" she asked. "Wonder Woman cups all just arrived." Winfrey, who was decked out in the character's metal bracelets and tiara, then showed another gift for the girls. As she opened the package, she said, "This just arrived, too. I'm dying. Thank you so much. Havianas' Wonder Woman flip-flops! Woo!" She later tweeted a photo of her dog Sadie, joking that her furry friend was "not so sure about her wonderwomanness." No matter -- the 63-year-old was clearly feeling like a kid again. "Just a few more minutes and our guests are arriving," she raved on Instagram. "We're ready for the party! Hello! It's Wonder Woman Day!" Before her guests arrived, Winfrey wanted to check on the food. One of the chefs was busy making butter lettuce salad with bleu cheese. "I think that's for the parents, right?" Winfrey asked. "Not for the kids." Two other chefs were grilling hamburgers and hotdogs -- much more kid-friendly fare. "Whoa!" Winfrey marveled. "Beautiful hamburgers and hotdogs coming up!" Winfrey's party even caught the attention of Wonder Woman herself, Gal Gadot. The 32-year-old actress re-grammed one of Winfrey's videos Tuesday afternoon, writing, "This is awesome!" Since its June 2 debut, Warner Bros.' Wonder Woman has earned $444.8 million worldwide. Five days ago, director Patty Jenkins admitted to E! News that she had "no" idea just how popular it would be. "For years when people were saying, 'Who would go see a Wonder Woman film?' I always thought, 'Wonder Woman is an amazing thing. I think a lot of people would.' But the way that the world has embraced it -- seeing it multiple times and making it No. 1 at the box office and sending the message that they have -- I'm like touched and blown away." Will Jenkins return to direct a Wonder Woman sequel? "We're hoping so," she said. (Eonline)

Tobey Maguire's adorable kids have it good -- their dad was Spider-Man, and if he needs a time-out, Uncle Leo DiCaprio's right there on the spot. The pair's been seen in the Hamptons together since, and MailOnline reported Bethenny beau's is Theriot, who owns an event and staffing company. DeMario Jackson came out of hiding and while he was mostly tight-lipped about the sexual encounter with Corinne Olympios that shut down "Bachelor in Paradise" ... he did answer one key question. The 'BIP' star was leaving Caffe Primo in West Hollywood Tuesday when paps peppered him with questions. We asked what he thought about Corinne saying she was too wasted to consent ... and if he was pissed. DeMario's clearly playing this close to the vest, but he at least wants everyone to know where he stands with Corinne. As we reported, he's insisting she was completely lucid -- and people who've seen the footage agree. (TMZ)

If you can't take the heat, get out of Katy Perry's kitchen. The "Roar" singer hosted a "Friends and Family: Dinner With Discourse" party Sunday as part of her "World Wide Witness" livestream, and it took an unexpected turn when "Insecure" actress Amanda Seales confronted Caitlyn Jenner about their different experiences growing up in America. "The reason I am so passionate -- and I'm not hostile, I'm passionate -- the reason I am so passionate is because I've had such a different experience in this country than you," Seales told Jenner. "Because as a black woman the government is so much in my life, and it always has been. The government literally said that black men could not even be in the house or else women couldn't get welfare. That's a big reason why there's such a chasm between black women and black men in this generation." Jenner, 67, seemed caught off guard by the turn their discussion, which also featured public figures such as comedian Margaret Cho, Van Jones and Sally Kohn, took. "I just said I believe in this country," Jenner replied. Seales, 35, later took to Instagram to clarify the moment. "I don't take being in these conversations lightly. As a black woman they will far too often consider your intellect a threat and your passion a problem," she captioned the clip of their debate. "I hope I inspired others last night to live in your truth no matter who is at the table. Let's grow not just a discourse of love but a DISCOURSE OF COURAGE. Because that's what it takes to face and deliver these inconvenient truths." Seales also told Page Six that she was happy to participate in such an event. "I appreciate Katy Perry for bringing together these different personalities and experiences to have an open and honest conversation," she told us. Meanwhile, a source told Page Six that despite any tension, Jenner "really enjoyed that dinner experience Sunday night." (Page Six)

Bella Thorne Says Scott Disick Is "Charming," But He "Drinks a Lot." Partying brought Bella Thorne and Scott Disick together -- and it also tore them apart. For the first time since their brief trip to Cannes last month, Thorne has revealed how she met the Keeping Up With the Kardashians star -- and why they're better as friends than lovers. "I throw a lot of house parties, and that's how I meet these people," the 19-year-old Famous in Love actress told Complex in an interview published Tuesday. "They come to my house party and they're like, 'Yo, I heard you're having a party,' and I'm just like, 'OK, French Montana. Hi, French.' That's how I met Scott -- he came to a house party of mine and I was like, 'Hi.'" From there, she said, a friendship was born. But Thorne was just one of a handful of women Disick was photographed with in Cannes. She said photos can be deceiving, like the one that appeared to show him fondling her. "Honestly, my nipple came out of my bikini and he tried to fix it for me and it looks like he's grabbing my boob. That's very nice of you to actually not sit there and stare at my nipple because my boobs are big. They come out of my shirt all the time!" she said. "You can't keep those suckers down." In the end, Thorne realized Disick is in a different place. "Scott is really nice, sweet, charming. I don't drink, and he really drinks a lot," she said. "It just ended up...I just wasn't down. I was like, 'I gotta leave.' We were [in Cannes] a day and a half before I was like, 'I'm booking my flight and leaving.' I love to go out and have fun, I love to f--king dance, but I just don't party hardcore like that and it was way too much for me. I was like, 'Woah, this is not the way I live my life, bruh.'" Since returning from the Cannes Film Festival, Thorne has been spending time with Gregg Sulkin, whom she dated for a year and has known since she was 12 years old. "Gregg and I are so close -- we hang out all the time. Gregg helped me grow up and helped me through such an important and impactful time in my life. He has such great intentions," Thorne explained. "This guy is in-f--king-credibly nice and obviously ridiculously good looking and funny and charming." While Disick hasn't commented on the nature of his relationship with Thorne -- and was later spotted making out with two women at once in Las Vegas -- the actress says she's not afraid to tell her truth. "It's hard because everybody's like, 'No, don't comment on it,'" she said. "But I try to use [social media] to speak up because it just genuinely irks me. I'm just like, 'I can't believe I'm reading this right now. Like this is absurd. You sketchy-ass bitches. Where'd you hear that?'" (Eonline)

Woah! Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott got matching couple tattoos. Oh Kylie, doll, why? Kylie Jenner and Travis Scott are officially an item. And if their loved-up courtside pictures, Miami struts and Instagram posts weren't enough to make them offish, *this* will do it. The couple just got matching tattoos. Yep, after two months of dating. Fans clearly found the news funny, as everyone thought of the pair as more of a festival fling rather than matching-tattoos-serious. Nevertheless they got inked, and it's actually quite cute: The little butterflies have meaning to the couple. Travis latest track "The Butterfly Effect", was released in May, just after they started dating. And we've suspected that 'butterfly' was the rapper's nickname for Kylie: Since being spotted holding hands at Coachella and going Instagram official with this post: But if you do keep up with Kylie's Snapchat you know that she's been laying low with this new relationship, not being nearly as public as she was with ex, Tyga. Making the matching tattoos on her Snapchat a big surprise. Kylie split with Tyga in May 2016, and previous to Kylie, Travis dated Rihanna - they were together for almost a year (before her rumored relationship with Drake). (British Glamour)

Customs agents and a drug sniffin' dog busted a woman attempting to smuggle 6 bricks of cocaine -- worth nearly $500k -- in the cushion of her wheelchair. Yoncela Stanley arrived at the JFK Airport Sunday from St. Lucia, and allegedly had the load of blow tucked under and behind her in the motorized chair. The K9 wasn't fooled though, and alerted Customs and Border Protection Officers who noticed the back seat cushion looked "unusual." 6 bricks and 2 clear bags of coke -- tipping the scales at 27 lbs. and worth $468,000 -- would definitely be unusual. Stanley was booked for importation of a controlled substance. The K9 got a big bag of legal treats, we're guessing, for the bust. (TMZ)

Gloria Estefan's Mother Gloria "Rapuela" Fajardo Dies at 88. Gloria Estefan announced to fans that her mother Gloria Fajardo passed away Tuesday night. She was 88. "Tonight at 8:19 pm we lost my beloved mother, the inimitable Gloria Fajardo. She went peacefully surrounded by her daughters, grandchildren, son-in-laws, niece, three loving caregivers, extended family and her most trusted friends, very especially, the two beautiful ladies in each side in this picture, Carmen Corpion & Clara Bris," she writes in the touching Instagram post. "They were an integral part of her posse not only throughout her life but to her last breath. I know it was exactly the way she would have wanted her departure from this earth to be, surrounded by love and the true representations of everyone that was special to her in life." The singer then went on to explain that her mother's time of death has a particular significance for their family. "know she chose the very moment, 8:19, because her beloved mother had died on 8/19 thirty-two years ago and she wanted to make sure that we got the message that she was with our beloved grandmother, Abuela Consuelo and my loving father, Jose Manuel," she explains. "I will miss her every moment of every day, and I thank her for being the incredible mother, woman and role model that she was to so many people." For several months the 59-year-old star has kept fans updated about her mother's health, she was met with an outpour of love and support from all of her followers. "Thank you for your prayers and messages, and the love and concern that filled our hearts and accompanied us throughout this most difficult time. Please know that at every moment, I let her know about the love and light that was being sent to her and she appreciated and absorbed every beautiful sentiment. Thank you for keeping us in your hearts and gently holding our hands," she says. It was Estefan's daughter, Emily, that showed the world just how amazing her grandmother was by creating rap videos on Instagram of herself and her talented grandma. Fajardo took on the name of Rapuela and fans we're obsessed! And although Emily is a musical star, Rapuela stole the show every single time. We'll sure miss you, Rapuela. Our thoughts and prayers go out to her family. (Eonline)

Selena Gomez Releases Epic ''Bad Liar'' Music Video. Nearly one month after Selena Gomez released her newest track, "Bad Liar," the singer is finally treating fans to the official music video. And after teasing the film on Instagram to her 122 million followers -- she is the reigning queen of the social media platform after all -- Selenators around the globe can vouch for the fact that Gomez's latest project was well worth the wait. During a recent interview, SelGo opened up to Vogue about why her Instagram popularity originally freaked her out, but she's now learning to take it all in stride. "As soon as I became the most followed person on Instagram, I sort of freaked out. It had become so consuming to me. It's what I woke up to and went to sleep to. I was an addict, and it felt like I was seeing things I didn't want to see, like it was putting things in my head that I didn't want to care about. I always end up feeling like s--t when I look at Instagram," the 24-year-old singer admitted. "Which is why I'm kind of under the radar, ghosting it a bit... I've been very vulnerable with my fans, and sometimes I say things I shouldn't. But I have to be honest with them. I feel that's a huge part of why I'm where I am." She also noted that she counts Dialectical Behavior Therapy as one of the biggest tools she's leaned on to help her face her hurdles over the past few years. "DBT has completely changed my life," Gomez told Vogue. "I wish more people would talk about therapy. We girls, we're taught to be almost too resilient, to be strong and sexy and cool and laid-back, the girl who's down. We also need to feel allowed to fall apart." And now, with new music on the airwaves and a new love with The Weeknd, it seems as though Gomez is happier than ever. (Eonline)

Prince protegee Sheila E. brought the crowd to its feet at the Apollo Theater's 12th Annual Spring Gala on Monday. Singer and percussionist Sheila performed her '80s hit "The Glamorous Life" and received a standing ovation after. "She had a complete drum set with Prince's symbol on it. She culminated the performance by tossing her sticks in the air and then kicked her drum stand over," a spy told us. Cedric the Entertainer, 53, hosted the event and had the audience in the palm of his hand joking about current music. "He said he loves all the young folks' rap music, like Future," an attendee said. But, "he said he has to change Future's lyrics from [drug reference] 'Molly Percocet' to 'I'm taking Prilosec' [the ulcer medication]. He had people in hysterics." Honorees included Verizon's Rose Kirk and TV director-producer Stan Lathan. CeeLo Green, Trombone Shorty and Charlie Wilson also performed, and the night ended with a processional that led the lively crowd outside the theater to a Belvedere after-party in a New Orleans-themed tent nearby. Ariana Grande to Get Honorary Citizenship of Manchester. Ariana Grande is in line to get honorary citizenship of Manchester. The city council is proposing a new system to recognize outstanding contributions to the city, and Grande is tipped to be the first recipient. Councilors have praised the U.S. singer's goodwill and strong spirit for arranging the One Love Manchester benefit concert less than two weeks after her May 22 concert in the city which was attacked by a suicide bomber, resulting in 22 deaths and many more injured. Grande returned for the June 4 all-star concert at the Old Trafford Cricket Ground, which raised almost £3 million ($3.8 million) for victims of the Manchester Arena attack and its broadcast was the most-watched program on British television this year. The pop singer was a near-constant presence on the stage of her fund-raiser, as she performed a number of sets, teamed up with Miley Cyrus and the Black Eyed Peas and provided some of the emotional highlights of the day, including a moving cover of "Somewhere Over the Rainbow" that brought tears to the faces of many of the 55,000 fans in attendance. Under new proposals, honorary citizenship could be granted to those from outside Greater Manchester for the first time, according to the BBC. "This seems a fitting moment to update the way we recognize those who make noteworthy contributions to the life and success of our city," council leader Sir Richard Leese said. He added, "We've all had cause to be incredibly proud of Manchester and the resilient and compassionate way in which the city, and all those associated with it, have responded to the terrible events of May 22 - with love and courage rather than hatred and fear." Grande, he said, had "exemplified this response." The proposals will go before the council on July 12, the Corporation reports. (Billboard)

Burns Survivor Kechi Okwuchi Breaks Hearts With Ed Sheeran Cover on 'America's Got Talent'. For Kechi Okwuchi, getting to the stage of America's Got Talent was the easy part. Okwuchi blew away the audience and judges with her performance of Ed Sheeran's 2014 single "Thinking Out Loud" on Tuesday night's episode. But it was the story of her harrowing journey that broke hearts. As a 16-year-old, the AGT contestant was on board the 2005 Sosoliso Airlines Flight 1145 which crashed over Nigeria, claiming the lives of 107 passengers. Okwuchi was just one of just two survivors. Two years later, Okwuchi and her family moved to Houston to continue medical treatment for her severe burns. She's endured more than 100 surgeries since the disaster, but her spirit remains unbowed. Music was her therapy. "Lying in the hospital bed with bandages from head to foot. Not being able to more or do anything else, music was my escape. And that's why it means so much to me," Okwuchi told AGT judges Simon Cowell, Heidi Klum, Howie Mandel and Mel B. Tears flowed as Okwuchi, now 27, earned a standing ovation from the audience and judges (all of whom gave her a resounding "yes"). (Billboard)

Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Estelle Send Prayers to Victims of London High Rise Fire. A raging fire that engulfed a 24-story residential apartment building early Wednesday morning (June 14) in West London has taken the lives of six people and sent more than 60 to the hospital as terrifying images have gripped a nation still raw from a recent series of terror attacks. According to the Guardian, the blaze that quickly spread through Grenfell Tower near Notting Hill while many residents slept came after years of concerns from the building's residents association about a number of potential safety issues. As the scene unfolded over social media and TV screens overnight and into the morning a number of English musicians and media personalities -- including Sam Smith, Rita Ora, Estelle and Piers Morgan -- sent their thoughts and prayers to the victims. The scary images come less than two weeks after London was rocked by a series of attacks on London Bridge that killed eight people and a May 22 bombing at an Ariana Grande concert in Manchester that took the lives of 22. Taylor Swift's Boyfriend Joe Alwyn Will Play Queen Elizabeth's Lover in Mary Queen Of Scots. In addition to nabbing Taylor Swift 's heart, British actor Joe Alwyn has captured the role of Queen Elizabeth's lover in the upcoming film Mary Queen of Scots, reports The Hollywood Reporter. The Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk actor will star opposite Margot Robbie and Saoirse Ronan in the period drama. The Working Title and Focus Features project, which is based on John Guy's 2004 biography The True Life of Mary Stuart, tells the story of the famous rivalry between between Queen Elizabeth of England (Robbie) and Mary, Queen of Scots (Ronan). The film revolves around Mary's attempt to overthrow her cousin to gain the seat on the English throne. In the historical drama, Alwyn is slated to play Dudley, Queen Elizabeth's counselor and lover. Just as his relationship is heating up with Tay, the 26-year-old's star status is lighting up as well. He just appeared with Charlotte Rampling in The Sense of Ending and he's also slated to star in The Favourite. Interestingly enough, the film, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos, is another royal period piece, which focuses on the political machinations during the reign of Queen Anne, the last monarch of the House of Stuarts. In Mary Queen of Scots, the plot centers on Mary, who has a short-lived marriage to King Henry II of France's eldest son Francis, who eventually dies after being crowned king. In order to win the favor of her cousin, Mary returns to Scotland and there she plans a failed assassination attempt on Elizabeth. For those who need a brush-up history lesson: After her assassination plot was found out, Mary was banished to various castles for eighteen and a half years. She was found guilty of plotting to assassinate Elizabeth in 1586 and beheaded the following year. Outcome does not look good for Ms. Ronan's character! (Eonline)

Scarlett Johansson Wants You to Know That Rough Night Is Not a ''Chick Flick." It's raunchy, it's rowdy and it's definitely not a chick flick! At the premiere of her new film, Rough Night, Scarlett Johansson met up with E! News and set the record straight to the people who are calling the wild comedy a "chick flick." The 32-year-old told E! News, "What's been really funny is that I have had a lot of people saying things to me as we have been doing press for this film that it's a 'ladies movie' about...'four ladies' and I am like 'Well, not necessarily.'" The Avengers star continued, "It seems almost sort of passe that to say that is a 'ladies movie.' Once we can accept that women are funny and that we allow ourselves to talk about taboo subjects and take the stigma off of them, then I see it's a lot more inclusive environment." As for working with the usually dramatic actress, the SNL star said being on set with Johansson was inspiring. "She's hilarious. She was just instantly so funny and was so great at improvising and it was just really exciting to watch her do comedy, as well as be so grounded," said McKinnon. "I just love being in the room watching her act. She's a master class." The film follows five women, who come together 10 years after graduating from college. These five friends are going to have the time of their lives -- if it kills them (or someone else!) In the R-rated comedy, Jess (played by Johansson) reunites with her four college friends when they rent a beach house in Miami for her wild and raunchy bachelorette weekend, but all goes awry (aka the stripper they hired ends up dead) during this life-changing night. China's Weying Buys Into Paramount's 'Transformers: The Last Knight'. The firm will be a strategic marketing and promotion partner for the film in the Middle Kingdom. Chinese online ticketing giant Weying Technology has taken a stake in Paramount Pictures' Transformers: The Last Knight, the companies said Wednesday. The firm will be a strategic marketing and promotion partner for the film in the Middle Kingdom. Financial terms weren't disclosed, but the Chinese company will be entitled to an undisclosed share of global revenue for the film, including theatrical, video, TV, VOD and merchandising, the partners said. Founded in 2014 by Internet entrepreneur David Lim, Weying has grown to become one of the top three ticketing vendors in China, where over 80 percent of all movie tickets are sold online. Valued at $2 billion last year, the service has more than 100 million users and leverages its vast troves of data to generate targeted digital marketing campaigns. Weying's first two investments in U.S. studio tentpoles, made earlier this year, were hit and miss. The company helped finance and jointly promote Paramount's xXx: The Return of Xander Cage and Ghost in the Shell -- the former earned $164 million in China, while the latter took $29 million. The new Transformers film will open in China on June 21. Expectations are especially high for the latest installment in the Michael Bay action franchise. Transformers: Age of Extinction earned $320 million in the Middle Kingdom in 2014 -- it remains the third-biggest Hollywood film ever in China, behind only the last two Fast and Furious films from Universal. "We've set up an office in Los Angeles, in Century City, to acquire content for China as well as to build strong, direct relationships with the studios," Luke Xiang, the vp and international face of Weying, told THR recently in Beijing. "In the year ahead, we will make several more investments in U.S. studio films, European independents and Japanese titles. We will be diversified because that's what the Chinese marketplace has an appetite for." Local marketing tie-ups have become commonplace for studio tentpoles in the massive Mainland China market; Weying is the second Chinese firm to board Transformers 5. Chinese film company Huahua Media, which served as a marketing partner on Transformers 4, announced an unspecified stake in the new film at a Shanghai signing ceremony in December last year. The event was attended by the late Brad Grey, then chairman of Paramount, and Huahua CEO Wang Kefei. Soon after, Huahua, in partnership with Shanghai Film Group, unveiled a high-profile $1 billion slate financing agreement with Paramount, which sees the Chinese partners bankroll 30 percent of every title from the U.S. studio over the next three years. Sofia Coppola's Cannes Entry 'The Beguiled' to Close Moscow Film Festival. The film, starring Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst and Elle Fanning, made Coppola the second woman to win Cannes' best director award. Sofia Coppola's Cannes competition entry The Beguiled will screen as the closing night film at the Moscow Film Festival on June 29. Set at a girls' school in Virginia during the U.S. Civil War and starring Nicole Kidman, Kirsten Dunst, Colin Farrell and Elle Fanning, the film won Coppola the best director's award at the Cannes film festival last month, making her only the second woman to win that honor. The only other woman to get the Cannes director award is Russian filmmaker Yuliya Solntseva, who collected the award for her WWII drama Povest plamennykh let (The Chronicle of Flaming Years) back in 1961 when the Soviet Union still existed. A representative for the Moscow festival told The Hollywood Reporter that it is not yet clear if Coppola and the film's stars will attend the screening. The festival will run June 22-29. It will open with Baahubali 2: The Conclusion by Indian director S.S. Rajamouli. (Hollywood Reporter)

Brett Ratner Regrets Not Naming 'Tower Heist' After Trump. In the history of scratched movie titles, Trump Heist might be among the most intriguing of missed opportunities. As it turns out, Brett Ratner's 2011 comedy Tower Heist was originally titled just that. The film began its life as an Eddie Murphy pitch about a ragtag group of disgruntled employees who plot to rob Donald Trump (yes, seriously). After multiple drafts and at least six writers, the plot's villain morphed into a more generic greedy billionaire played by Alan Alda who lives atop "The Tower" (exteriors were shot at the Trump International Hotel & Tower, while Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue was used for a key scene in an underground parking garage). Though Trump may be radioactive in Hollywood now, at the time, his participation was seen as a selling point. The film's production notes touted his involvement and offered this tidbit: "With the cooperation of Donald Trump, who allowed the production access to several of his high-end properties, the filmmakers were able to incorporate true luxury locales in the film. ... The real-estate mogul made a point of visiting the set during a break from taping his television series, The Celebrity Apprentice, several floors up to see how Ratner and the cast were faring." As for Ratner, he regrets that Trump Heist didn't stick. "In retrospect, it would have been a bigger hit if it had been called Trump Heist," he tells THR of the Universal film that earned $153 million worldwide. With a title like that, the so-called Resistance would likely propel the film to cult status, savoring that the president gets his comeuppance. Even if it's in a fictional world. America's Got Talent's Howie Mandel Gives Formerly Blind Singer Christian Guardino the Golden Buzzer. The Golden Buzzers keep on coming on America's Got Talent. On the Tuesday, June 13 show, 16-year-old Christian Guardino took to the stage and sang The Jackson 5's "Who's Lovin' You." Judge Howie Mandel gave the teenager the Golden Buzzer treatment, sending him straight through to the live rounds. "Thank you so much," Guardino said after receiving a standing ovation from Mandel, Simon Cowell, Mel B and Heidi Klum. "I mean, what just happened?!" Mel said. Mandel asked the singer, who was overcome by emotion, if he could make one wish, what would it be? "Right this second? Probably the Golden Buzzer," Guardino said. "Well, your wish just came true," Mandel said, slapping the Buzzer. On the show, Guardino opened up about his condition, Leber congenital amaurosis. Doctors told him and his mother he would need to walk with a cane and his eyesight would never improve. That is until he was 12 years old and cured thanks to gene therapy. There's even a National Geographic article about him. "You were like a little mouse that turned into a lion," Cowell said about Guardino, who was visibly nervous before starting to sing. "You are one of my favorite contestants I've seen this year. Not only in terms of your voice. I just like you. There's something about you, and it's just the best possible feeling when we meet someone like you." Last week, Cowell used his Golden Buzzer privilege to send deaf singer Mandy Harvey to all the way to the live rounds. America's Got Talent airs Tuesdays, 8 p.m. on NBC. (Eonline)

The Handmaid's Tale Finale Ended With a Huge Cliffhanger and We Need to Talk About It. The Handmaid's Tale closed out a stellar first season with a thrilling hour of television. Take a deep breath, because if you watched it like we did, you would've somehow made it through the entire episode without breathing once. Yes, The Handmaid's Tale finale basically defies human nature. The episode began with a slap to the face -- literally. Mrs. Waterford (Yvonne Strahovski) gave it to Offred (Elisabeth Moss) for her Jezebel's trips. But thanks to a black market pregnancy test, Mrs. Waterford found out Offred is pregnant. Who's baby is it? "You think I prayed for this? You think I prayed to bring a baby into this house?" Offred said to Mrs. Waterford. The defiance began. The Handmaid's Tale closed out a stellar first season with a thrilling hour of television. Who's baby is it? "You think I prayed for this? You think I prayed to bring a baby into this house?" Offred said to Mrs. Waterford. The defiance began. And wait, there's more: After Moira (Samira Wiley) got the Mayday package to Offred, she took off for the boarder and made it! She is now safe in Canada with food, healthcare, money, identification and Luke (O.T. Fagbenle)! Back in Gillead, Offred and the other Handmaid's were summoned by Aunt Lydia (Ann Dowd) to stone Janine to death for endangering the child she had with her Commander (see last episode when she jumped off the bridge). The new Ofglen (the one who replaced Alexis Bledel's character in that Commander's house), refused to participate in the stoning. Then Offred refused. Then everybody else did. Aunt Lydia sent everybody home. "There will be consequences! Believe me," she said. However, at that moment, the Handmaid's were triumphant. There was hope. What kind of consequences? That remains to be seen. The season ended with Offred being taken away by the police -- but not before Nick told her she'd be fine and to go along with it and Offred told the kitchen Martha about the Mayday package hidden behind the tub: a series of notes from Handmaid's around the country. Is this the end of Offred? Or the beginning? Regardless, know this: The cast is doing some of the best work of their careers in this show. Maybe now Moss can finally take home an Emmy after all those Mad Men nominations. The Handmaid's Tale will return for a second season on Hulu in 2018. (Eonline)

Pretty Little Liars: Somebody's Married, But Everybody's Probably Going to Jail. That was fast! Just an episode after Caleb (Tyler Blackburn) kinda sorta non-traditionally proposed to Hanna (Ashley Benson) before conducting an unofficial ceremony in a tent, Haleb got married for real. While they didn't have the white dress or the diamond ring or a church full of guests, they did have Hanna's mom, the Justice of the Peace, and a couple of rings that totally worked. So they're married...and that's about all the good news we can give you. In Tuesday night's episode, Lieutenant Tanner (Roma Maffia) took over the Rollins murder case after Furey (Nicholas Gonzalez) told her everything and basically excused himself, and Tanner really took things to the next level. All the liars had their houses raided and their belongings taken into evidence, and little bits of bad signs were quickly found, meaning it was only a matter of time before the truth started coming out. Tanner gave all the girls the chance to tell their side of the story, but no one was talking, no matter how much we begged them to because we're very, very tired. Meanwhile, Aria (Lucy Hale) was still working for Team AD in order to protect Ezra (Ian Harding), and thanks to Mona (Janel Parrish), the rest of the gang figured her out and to say they were pissed to find out that she chose Ezra over them is a serious understatement. She was basically kicked out of the group, though Spencer (Troian Bellisario) did visit her later to tell her that while she can't forgive her, she would like to apologize. And then of course, Tanner showed up to say that Aria was no longer a suspect, since there's "proof" that Aria was in New Hampshire the night Rollins/Dunhill/whatever disappeared. At the same time, the game had a timer going. By the time the timer ran out, the liars needed to choose who was going to jail or else they'd all go to jail. At around the same time, everybody decided not to play anymore. The timer ran out, nobody chose, and just as Aria decided she would turn herself in to save everyone else, AD claimed it was too late. Aria's car stopped, only for her to get out and find a body in the trunk right as the police arrived. And while that was happening, Caleb and Ezra found out that Mona had stolen the game, which was now sporting a little jail cell. Finally, everyone had some sex, or presumably were about to. As Caleb and Hanna got married, Emily and Alison lit some candles in a forest and had sex. Spencer showed up at Toby's, acting totally weird, and then they had sex. Aria planned to tell Ezra everything, but first...sex. And weirdly, all we wanted was to watch the scene where Aria told Ezra everything. Pretty Little Liars airs Tuesdays at 8 p.m. on Freeform. Sandra Oh is returning to TV & you just *know* it's going to be good. Grey's Anatomy star Sandra Oh is coming to the BBC for a new TV show that sounds EPIC. Sandra Oh is officially returning to TV and we could literally jump for joy. She's going to be a badass starring role in a new BBC spy thriller called Killing Eve. YASSSSS. The Grey's Anatomy star has kept a low profile since she left the show two years ago, but this new dramatic thriller from Fleabag creator Phoebe Waller-Bridge will see a whole new side to Sandra Oh. No longer will she be a mardy doctor (with a heart of gold), she will now play Eve, a bored security services operative "whose desk-bound job doesn't fulfil her fantasies of being a spy." The eight-episode drama will revolve around a psychopathic assassin and the woman charged with hunting her down. The psychopathic assassin Villanelle is currently uncast. May we suggest Vicky McClure, Sheridan Smith or Lena Headey. (British Glamour)

NBC holding crisis meetings over Megyn Kelly. As families of the Sandy Hook victims continue to pressure NBC to ax Megyn Kelly's Sunday interview with conspiracy theorist Alex Jones, the network has been holding crisis meetings about how to handle the backlash. Insiders told us that staff were in panicked meetings all day on Monday. "It's a s?-?-?t show. No one wants to withstand a whole week of criticism over this. There are a number of people who want to pull the interview." But another source told us NBC needs the controversy to shake up their Sunday night and to bring new viewers. "No one expected sponsors to pull out, but this is why they hired Megyn. They expect to lose and gain viewers and they want the buzz." The interview has left many at the network scratching their heads, but NBC News chairman Andy Lack was overheard telling fellow journalists at Tuesday's Mirror Awards that the interview will air. "There's been a lot of confusion, but as of now, they are not pulling the interview," another insider said. Kelly addressed the backlash on Tuesday. "I find Alex Jones' suggestion that Sandy Hook was 'a hoax' as personally revolting as every other rational person does. It left me, and many other Americans, asking the very question that prompted this interview: How does Jones, who traffics in these outrageous conspiracy theories, have the respect of the president of the United States and a growing audience of millions?" Is Wall Street Giving Netflix a Pass on Sky-High Content Costs? "The rules are different," says one analyst of the streamer's $6 billion-a-year content binge, even as CEO Reed Hastings says he wants to cancel more of its shows. Netflix CEO Reed Hastings caused heart palpitations in Hollywood on May 31 when he said he wants to cancel more of his original shows. "Our hit ratio is way too high right now," Hastings told CNBC. "I'm always pushing the content team; we have to take more risks ... because we should have a higher cancel rate overall." The comment was interpreted by some as a sign that Netflix, which has emerged over the past five years as perhaps the most prolific buyer of original content, might be shifting a strategy that has buoyed the entertainment industry. A day later, Netflix canceled the pricey sci-fi drama Sense8, a move that came a week after Baz Luhrmann's ultra-expensive The Get Down was axed. Yet rather than panic, Wall Street actually cheered Hastings' proclamation, bidding the stock 2 percent higher over the next four days and ignoring the vast debt that Netflix has racked up ($3.4 billion) in pursuit of content. In fact, few analysts that closely follow Netflix believe the company will alter its strategy in the short term. It must spend like a drunken sailor to compete with TV networks -- Hastings promises to dole out $6 billion this year -- but also to maintain its lead over Amazon, Facebook and YouTube, all of which are entering longform entertainment video. "I think they'll spend more next year than they will this year, and they'll borrow more money to do so," says Canaccord Genuity analyst Michael Graham, who has a "buy" rating on the stock, which has surged 23 percent so far this year. Despite all the attention, Netflix now produces only 14 percent of its originals, while the rest, including Fuller House and Marvel's Daredevil, are produced by others. Graham believes Netflix wisely is shifting that balance: Licensed originals will about double to 1,601 hours per year in 2025, and originals produced by Netflix will rise ninefold to 949 hours. While Netflix spends an estimated $3.5 million per content hour to produce shows (though The Get Down had reportedly escalated to $12 million an episode), Graham says Netflix "is generally smart" about spending. "They know exactly the demographic that is watching," he says, "and know when [the target audience] stops watching." "Canceled originals are not failures," adds Christopher Coby, an analyst with 7Park Data. "The rules are different for Netflix. Subscribers expect newness, they want it to feel fresh, and they like it when Netflix takes risks." So far so good, according to Barton Crockett of FBR & Co., who says 40 percent of U.S. consumers who have Netflix prefer it over traditional TV. He suggests Netflix could raise its subscription price -- now between $8 and $12 a month -- 5 to 9 percent without losing many of its U.S. subscribers, which Crockett estimates will grow from 51.5 million today to 61.6 million by the end of 2020. But not everyone is enamored of Netflix's spending spree. "They brag about what they spend on original content but never take any losses on canceled shows," says Wedbush analyst Michael Pachter, who notes the service spends $4 per subscriber each quarter on original content. Pachter predicts Netflix will capitalize the $6 billion it spends on content this year over five years, but he criticizes the company for not clarifying its plans. "If it expensed everything it spent, it would have lost $3 a share last year," he says (the company reported that it earned 43 cents a share in 2016). The analyst calls Netflix's balance sheet "unfathomable" given that by 2020, he estimates, Netflix will have spent more on its content assets than Disney paid for Pixar, Marvel and LucasArts combined. Facebook's New TV Push Suggests Big Aspirations. The social network is nearing a deal to revive former MTV comedy 'Loosely Exactly Nicole' as well as a competition series, dating shows and talk shows. Facebook has found a new friend: original programming. The social network is nearing a deal to revive former MTV comedy Loosely Exactly Nicole and is working with American Ninja Warrior producers A. Smith & Co. on a competition series called Last State Standing. The shows would be part of a television-quality slate to attract audiences to Facebook's video tab. Ricky Van Veen and Mina Lefevre, the executives hired to spearhead the development efforts, are said to have zeroed in on shortform and TV-length programs that reach a broad demographic as well as specific audience communities defined by shared interests or cultural affiliations. Nicole, which had a small but devoted fan base during its first season, falls into that category. It also reunites star Nicole Byer with Lefevre, who left MTV for Facebook in February after developing the show for the cable network. Meanwhile, Last State Standing, which pits contestants from all 50 states in a competition to win $500,000, could appeal to a wider audience. Facebook, which announced in December that it would begin buying shows to boost its video effort, also is looking at dating shows, talk shows and other scripted series, according to sources familiar with its pitch to the creative community. In addition, the social networking giant is striking deals with digital video producers such as BuzzFeed and Vox Media to create shortform programming that would help keep the video tab stocked with fresh content. One scripted lit agent says Facebook is "looking to spend real money" on originals. "They're not seeking to develop highbrow content; they want soapy, wide appeal because Facebook is a mass medium that most of the country is a part of," says the insider, noting the company also will work in the straight-to-series model and avoid spending on pilots. For Facebook, the video push is all about finding new ways to serve more ads to its 1.9 billion monthly active users. It generated $8 billion in revenue in the first quarter on the back of the fast-growing digital ad business. But with inventory in its newsfeed reaching saturation and about 85 percent of its revenue coming from mobile advertising, Facebook is eying television's premium ad rates. Says eMarketer media analyst Paul Verna, "If you've conquered the handset, the next frontier is the living room." (Hollywood Reporter)

Netflix, Amazon U.K. Streaming Revenue to Top Box Office Spend by 2020, PwC Forecasts. The consulting firm predicts the home entertainment market will suffer a "terminal decline," with sales being cut in half. Netflix and Amazon are poised to become the biggest money makers for movies in the U.K. in the next four years. According to consultancy PricewaterhouseCoopers, U.K. revenue for streaming video services, which offer film and TV content, will grow by more than 30 percent to reach $1.81 billion by 2020, overtaking local cinema spending, which it estimates will reach $1.80 billion, with admissions rising from 172 million in 2016 to 179 million in 2021. "Demand for internet video shows no signs of slowing down," said Phil Stokes, U.K. head of entertainment and media at PwC, speaking to The Guardian. "The figures do not signal the death of film. Look at the box office performance of films such as Star Wars: Rogue One or Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them to see the significant amount of enthusiasm for blockbuster movies out there." But at the same time as digital continues to grow, PwC also expects to see a "terminal decline" in the home entertainment market, with DVD and Blu-ray sales falling from $1.55 billion in 2016 to $679 million by 2021. "The failure in this market is the high street retailers, supermarkets and specialist stores [that sell DVDs and Blu-ray]," added Stokes. "As well as the shift to digital a lot of physical buying is from services like Amazon. And online streaming is bypassing high street retailers." (Hollywood Reporter)
