Improvement work continues on State Route 86 (Ajo Way) between Valencia and Kinney roads

Traffic will be detoured to Michigan Street and to Fred Avenue. There will be a "Road Closed to Through Traffic" sign with space provided for local traffic to enter. Business access will be maintained.

Traffic on westbound SR 86 will be shifted to the south side of the roadway, just east of Kinney Road, beginning 6 a.m. Wednesday, June 7, until further notice, to install a temporary concrete barrier and construct the new westbound roadway.

Crews and traffic devices will guide drivers through the work zone.

Business access will not be affected.

Tucson Estates Parkway at SR 86 is closed around the clock through June to construct and pave the new intersection and roadway to the north.

Traffic on SR 86 will be detoured to Kinney Road and onto Bopp Road.

Access to Tucson Estates Parkway is available from Bopp Road or Camino Verde.

There will be a “Road Closed to Through Traffic” sign with space provided for local traffic to enter.

Sunset Boulevard, just south of SR 86, is closed around the clock through June.

The turnoff from SR 86 to Old Ajo Way, east of Camino Verde (near milepost 164) is permanently closed. The closure is for the construction of a new westbound alignment that will provide better future access with the new Camino Verde signalized intersection when it is opened. Access to Camino Verde and the Drexel Heights Fire Station will always remain open.
