Daily closures set for eastbound I-10 off ramp at Dragoon Road in Texas Canyon

The eastbound Interstate 10 exit ramp at Dragoon Road in Texas Canyon will be closed to traffic on Thursday(March 24) and Monday (March 28) through Friday (April 1) to allow crews to remove boulders from the area.

The off ramp at Exit 318 will be closed daily from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. on those days. The ramp will be open evenings and on the weekend, including Friday (March 25)

During the restriction, eastbound I-10 motorists can access Dragoon Road by continuing to Johnson Road (Exit 322), returning on westbound I-10 and exiting at Dragoon Road.

The work is part of a $1.38 million safety project that includes removal of large rocks that could pose a hazard to motorists who leave the roadway. Lane closures are in effect daily in both directions through Texas Canyon, located between Benson and Willcox in Cochise County.

The project is scheduled to be complete in July 2106.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
