Westbound I-10 off ramp at Dragoon Road to close Wednesday for rock removal

Rock removal work on Interstate 10 in Texas Canyon will move to the westbound off ramp at Dragoon Road on Wednesday (March 30).

The Arizona Department of Transportation will close the eastbound off ramp at Dragoon Road (Exit 318) from 7 a.m. until approximately 10 a.m. on Wednesday, then it will reopen to traffic and crews will move to the westbound exit.

The westbound ramp at Exit 318 will be closed until 5 p.m. Wednesday and on subsequent weekdays from 7 a.m. until 5 p.m. until the rocks are removed from that location.

Texas Canyon is in Cochise County east of Benson.

During the closures, westbound I-10 motorists can access Dragoon Road by continuing to Sybil Road (Exit 312) and returning to eastbound I-10.

ADOT is working to remove large boulders adjacent to I-10 travel lanes through Texas Canyon that present a potential hazard when motorists leave the roadway.

The work is expected to be complete in July 2016.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center atwww.az511.gov or call 511.
