Kate Upton Marries Justin Verlander in Lavish Italian Wedding. Kate Upton and Justin Verlander are married! The 25-year-old model and the 34-year-old Houston Astros pitcher tied the knot in Italy on Saturday, E! News can confirm. This news comes just days after Verlander's team won the 2017 World Series, so there's a lot to celebrate this weekend! Upton looked beautiful in a white dress with lace sleeves and wore her hair in a side part with loose waves and a veil pinned in the back, an eyewitness told E! News, adding that Verlander wore a dark colored tux with a bow tie and bridesmaids wore different blush colored gowns. The wedding took place at the Rosewood Castiglion Del Bosco resort. The ceremony was conducted at an old medieval church at the top of a hill amidst ancient ruins and overlooking the Montalcino valley and vineyards, the eyewitness said. Hurricane candles lined the staircase up to the top and each guest took a name card with their name written in black calligraphy. Arrangements of deep red and blush flowers and olive branches mixed in adorned the area. At the end of the 30 minute ceremony, everyone walked back down the stairs and to a reception at the restaurant on the property. Back in May 2016, Upton exclusively shared the engagement news with us at the Met Gala. "I'm really excited, he asked me right before season started so we've been keeping it on the down low for quite a while," she told E! News' Catt Sadler at the event. "So I'm excited to finally be able to share it with the world!" Before getting engaged, Upton and Verlander had dated for over three years. At the end of 2016, it was revealed that the couple had purchased a house together for $5.25 million. The Beverly Hills home is about 5,500-square feet and has five bedrooms, six bathrooms, a pool and a tennis court. Just weeks ago, Upton shared photos from her bachelorette party in New York City on Instagram. "No better place to relax, rejuvenate and celebrate @ThePlazaHotel," she wrote along with a pic of herself with her closest pals. Upton can be seen wearing a "bride" hat in the pic while her friends are all wearing "squad" hats. Congratulations to the couple! (Eonline)

Patton Oswalt Marries Meredith Salenger 18 Months After Late Wife's Tragic Death. And so the next chapter of Patton Oswalt's life begins. On Saturday, the actor and his fiancee, Meredith Salenger, in front of friends and family, confirms E! News. A source tells E! News that the couple wed at the Jim Henson Company Lot in Hollywood. The brief ceremony began at 5:15 pm and lasted 15 minutes. The couple was married by a female friend in a Jewish ceremony. The insider added that Meredith was teary throughout the ceremony. The former child star wore an off-the-shoulder white dress and carried a bouquet of bright pink and red peonies. Guests at the intimate ceremony included actress Ever Carradine, Martha Plimpton and Questlove. The source also added that at the end of the ceremony, Patton broke glass and guests shouted "Mazel Tov." After the nuptials, guests retreated into the studio for the reception. The historic location was decked out in white twinkle lights strung across the ceiling. There were long farmhouse tables for a family style dinner. The onlooker said, "Everyone was coming up and congratulating Patton and Meredith. They seemed blissfully happy and in love." Their nuptials mark a significant moment in the 48-year-old star's life following the unexpected passing of his first wife of 11 years, Michelle McNamara, in 2016. "I think for Patton, having met and found love after over a year of intense therapy and openly grieving and dealing with his pain... I am grateful to be the one who helps him climb out of the depths of grief and find some joy again," Salenger wrote to fans on Twitter earlier this year following the announcement of their engagement and subsequent backlash from fans. "And most of all... Alice is happy and feels loved," she continued, referencing the 8-year-old daughter he had with McNamara. Unbeknownst to them at the time, their journey to the altar began in February when they were invited to a mutual friend, actress Plimpton's dinner party. However, because of time conflicts, Oswalt ultimately had to miss it. "The next day, Meredith sent me a Facebook message, saying," Ugh you missed some amazing lasagna last night. You really screwed up,'" he recalled during an interview on the Jim and Sam Show. Before they knew it, the two were messaging back and forth every night, "writing short novels basically." After three months of the digital banter, they finally met in person in mid-May. Less than three months later, Oswalt popped the question with an emerald-cut diamond and asked the actress to be his in his own special way. "I put the ring in a marzipan [Star Wars] Slave I replica and said, 'Will you be my Padawan of Love?' She maced me but said yes later," he joked at the time. While Oswalt happily celebrated finding love again, his bride-to-be also welcomed their relationship with open arms. "I have waited 47 years to find true love," she wrote on social media. "Creating our family unit while honoring the brilliant gift Michelle has given me will be my life's goal and happiness. I am deeply in love with both Patton and Alice and very much looking forward to a beautiful happy life having adventures together." Those adventures have officially begun! Congratulations to the new husband and wife! (Eonline)

Teen Mom's Amber Portwood Confirms She's Pregnant With Baby No. 2. Teen Mom OG star Amber Portwood and boyfriend Andrew Glennon are expecting their first child together, which will be her second, she confirmed Friday. The two are "excited about their future together," a source told E! News exclusively. "He is with her in Indiana and the relationship is going strong. He has been filming with her." She and ex-boyfriend Gary Shirley are parents to daughter, Leah, who will turn 9 this month. Portwood, 27, and Glennon met earlier this year while she was filming Marriage Boot Camp with ex-fiance Matt Baier. He and the reality star had split mid-production. Portwood and Glennon made their red carpet debut as a couple this past August at the 2017 MTV VMAs. Portwood told Us Weekly in a new interview, "When I first found out, I was a little scared. I just kind of sat down and thought about it and realized that it was a big step in my life and it was a good thing actually, and I was really happy within 30 minutes." "After the initial shock," she continued, "it was nothing but happy thoughts and just enjoying my time with my boyfriend. We're both very happy." On a Teem Mom episode that aired in May, it was revealed that Portwood and Baier had discussed having children together. However, she expressed concern about being pregnant while continuing to take her prescription drugs. "I just got re-diagnosed for Borderline Personality and Bipolar Disorder, and I've been taking three medications now that I need to take for the rest of my life," Portwood said. "I can't, I can't get pregnant on this medication...I can get pregnant, but it would mess up the fetus. If I do not have medication, I will not be normal. I would have...crazy mood swings." "Amber is an excellent mother," Baier told E! News in as statement in response to Portwood's pregnancy news. "I'm very happy for her and I know she will remain a wonderful mom. If she's happy, I'm happy." News of Portwood's pregnancy comes less than a month before Teen Mom OG's season seven premiere, which airs on November 27. (Eonline)

Justin Bieber Is 'Waiting' for Selena Gomez to Tell Him They're Official, Says Source. Looks like the ball is in Selena Gomez's court. A source close to Justin Bieber says that the "Sorry" singer is waiting for Gomez to tell them when they're officially back together -- but he knows he still has to win over her family. On Friday, Bieber and Gomez enjoyed another date night together. After they both attended a church event at the Microsoft Theatre, the pop stars went to a private dinner at Morton's Steakhouse in downtown Los Angeles. The pair arrived at 10 p.m. and stayed until midnight, and according to an onlooker, Bieber, 23, arranged for the private dinner after the restaurant had closed, so he and Gomez, 25, could have the place to themselves. "Justin is doing great. Spending all week with Selena is the dream week for him," a Bieber source told PEOPLE. "He is trying to take things slowly, but it hasn't really worked. He is too excited to spend time with her." "He is waiting for Selena to tell him that they are officially back together. He doesn't feel any rush, because no doubt they are already emotionally back together," the source continued, before acknowledging that Bieber knows he still has some work to do. "Justin still needs to win her family over and he realizes it will take some time. But he very much feels he is a different person." "He knows what he did wrong in the past and understands that Selena deserves better. He wants to be with her and will do anything to prove he can be a great boyfriend," the source added. This comes after Gomez was spotted cheering on Bieber at his hockey game in Los Angeles on Wednesday evening, just days after ending her 10-month romance from The Weeknd. The "Wolves" singer arrived at the game dressed in an all-black ensemble and jean jacket, but departed wearing Bieber's New Jersey Devils hockey jersey. Earlier that same day, the friendly exes, who dated on-and-off from 2011 to 2015, were also all smiles during a leisurely bike ride. The bike outing marked the third time that Gomez and Bieber have been seen together since her breakup with the R&B hit-maker (ne Abel Tesfaye). Reconciliation rumors were fueled after Bieber reached out to the Gomez after learning about her kidney transplant. Sources previously told PEOPLE that Gomez's rekindled friendship with Bieber was not responsible for the split. "It's been hard with [The Weeknd] being on tour and [Gomez] shooting in New York. That wasn't easy on them. It's over for now, but they're still in touch," a source said. (And in fact, she's still wearing his jacket.) Though nothing is official yet, Bieber is apparently determined to win back her heart. "They have so much to catch up on," a separate source told PEOPLE. "They dealt with things separately this year that made them different people. It wouldn't be surprising if they got back together." "It seems their relationship now is very different. Justin is certainly a much better person. He would be a better boyfriend, too," the source added. (People)

Jason Momoa and Emilia Clarke Have Adorable Game of Thrones Reunion. Daenerys Targaryen and Khal Drogo are back together! Again! Emilia Clarke, who plays the Mother of Dragons, posted on her Instagram page on Sunday a photo of her with her arms around Jason Momoa, who played her late Dothraki husband, her sun and stars. Based on their enormous grins, the appearance of a bottle and her curious caption, it appears the two went out drinking. Now that's what we call an epic deleted scene. "When life is so good that your sun and stars is in your city...you loose your eyes and gain 5 grins (and gins) where until now they'd only been one... (*grins- there's always more gins)," the British actress wrote. "@prideofgypsies YOU ALWAYS MOTHER OF DRAGONS MAIN MAN ???? #lookoutjonsnowdrogosgotyournumber #happinessishere #hawaiianhakahunkoffunshutsdownlondon." The actor, who recently married the real love moon of his life, Lisa Bonet, is in London to promote the movie Justice League with his co-stars. He makes his debut as Aquaman in the DC superhero ensemble film, which is set for release on November 17. Production on the HBO show's eighth and final season began last month and is set to continue through next summer. In September, Clarke dyed hair platinum blond to match her Game of Thrones character's locks after years of remaining a brunette under the long, braided wigs she wears onscreen. She and Momoa have reunited offscreen several times over the past few years. In 2015, Clarke posted on Instagram a photo of the two laughing and cuddling. "Well I guess the sun rises in the west and sets in the east then huh?" she wrote at the time. "Paris fashion week just kicked off....!" In 2016, Momoa showed his support for his former co-star after HBO aired an episode that showed her character unleashing her wrath upon some bonehead Dothraki who dared to challenge her...and ending up naked. "Hahahahahahahahahahahhhahaha. I love GOT. Don't f--k with my boo," he wrote on Instagram. "Hahahahahahahahah @emilia_clarke love u Moon of my life ALOHA DROGO." In an interview with Rolling Stone earlier this year, Clarke said that she first met Momoa in a hotel lobby in Belfast, Northern Ireland. "I walked in and from the others side of this enormous lobby I hear, 'WIFEY!'" she said. "And this huge Hawaiian man comes bounding over to me, picks me up and genuinely gets me in like a rugby tackle to the floor. It was only when he picked me back up and kinda dusted me off, I was like, 'Who are you?'" (Eonline)

Sean ''Diddy'' Combs Changes His Name to ''Brother Love'' on His 48th Birthday. Happy birthday to our main man...Brother Love? As those crazy kids Romeo and Juliet once taught us about the importance of the question, "What's in a name?" -- so has Sean "Diddy" Combs. For the rapper, the answer to the query is: both a lot and a little. The constantly name-changing music mogul, who was born Sean John Combs, announced that he has decided to once again tweak his moniker -- this time he's moving from "Diddy" to "Love" or "Brother Love." In 1997, Sean was known as "Puff Daddy." A year later, he went back to using Sean John. In 1999, he flipped the script and started going by "Puffy." After that, he used "P.Diddy" as his professional name and more recently he's gone with the nickname "Diddy." We thought that it would last forever, but not so fast... In a Twitter video that the beach-going Love (because that's what we're calling him now) posted earlier, coincidentally his birthday, the bday boy wrote, "I decided to change my name again! My new name is LOVE aka Brother Love. #TakeDat." In the sunny video, the 48-year-old addressed his legion of fans, "Hey y'all. I have some very serious serious news. I've been praying on this. I decided that -- I know it's risky and I know it's corny to some people -- but I decided to change my name again." Explaining that he was no longer feeling "Diddy." The mercurial musician added, "I'm just not who I am before. I'm something different. Some new name is Love aka Brother Love. I will not be answering to Puffy, Diddy, Puffy Daddy or any of my other monikers but Love or Brother Love." Not all of his fans are feeling the love on Love's new name. But fret not naysayers, if the past has any bearing on the future, the "Can't Hold Me Down" rapper will probably change it again in no time. What do you think of Brother Love? (Eonline)

Stars are skipping red carpets to avoid talking about scandals. It's red-carpet Siberia in Hollywood in the wake of the industry's ongoing harassment scandals. "A lot of people are skipping the carpet," a top publicist tells us. "The celebs are coming in side doors" to avoid the press. "It's not just Harvey Weinstein, it's Dustin Hoffman, Brett Ratner, that country-music guy [Kirt Webster] .?.?. It's playing six degrees of separation. Anybody can make a connection." The p.r. pro adds, "I've never seen anything like it. People are avoiding and dodging the carpet. They won't even do -- photos." The Country Music Association banned press from asking certain questions at its awards, but then reversed the decision. (PageSix)

Meryl Streep skips red carpet amid Hollywood's sexual harassment storm. Meryl Streep was set to walk the red carpet at the International Rescue Committee dinner at the Hilton Midtown, but with the recent sexual-harassment allegations against her former leading man Dustin Hoffman -- who allegedly slapped her on the set of their 1979 film, "Kramer vs. Kramer" -- the three-time Oscar winner's plans changed. She did pose for pictures with director Danny Boyle and Tom Brokaw inside. Streep called Harvey Weinstein "God" in a 2012 Golden Globes acceptance speech but now refers to him as a "disgraceful individual." The gala raised nearly $20 million. Michael Bloomberg donated $10 million. (PageSix)

Johnny Depp Was "Not Drunk" at Premiere Despite Reports. Johnny Depp was "not drunk" at the premiere of Murder On The Orient Express, despite recent reports, E! News has learned. The British newspaper The Sun reported that the actor "allegedly reeked of booze" at the event, which took place on Thursday, and that his bodyguard Jerry Judge had to "practically hold him up" on the red carpet. In many photos of Depp at the event, he is seen being guided around by the man around the area, which was surrounded by screaming fans. The Daily Mail and The Mirror reported that Depp allegedly looked "worse for wear." "These reports are completely false. Johnny was not drunk at the premiere. He came straight from set to the premiere," a source told E! News exclusively on Saturday. "His security was maneuvering him around the carpet as he has done for years." Murder On The Orient Express is based on Agatha Christie's 1934 mystery novel and tells of a mystery surrounding the murder of a passenger, played by Depp, on a train traveling across Europe. The movie also stars Star Wars' Daisy Ridley, Depp's Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides co-star Penelope Cruz, his Dark Shadows co-star Michelle Pfeiffer, Leslie Odom Jr., fellow Disney star Josh Gad, Willem Dafoe and Judi Dench and is set for release on November 10. Its London premiere marked Depp's first movie premiere since the Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Men Tell No Tales event in Tokyo in June. During his time in London, Depp talked about how back in April, he surprised people on the Pirates of the Caribbean ride at Disneyland by showing up inside dressed as his character Jack Sparrow. "I thought, how great will it be to be able to have the opportunity to stand there as some sort of animatronic until the people come by and then you start screaming," he said. "So all these years later, I got the chance to do it, so I was very excited." "They sort of looked at me as they were coming around, and I'm frozen, and I went, 'Oy! What are you looking at?' And then...nothing," he said. "You know what I got? All of the iPhones in the world going, 'Wow. Well, that's a pretty good animatronic.' It was one of the proudest moments of my life." (Eonline)

Julianna Margulies Recalls Alleged "Horrific" Hotel Room Meeting With Steven Seagal. Julianna Margulies is opening up about her uncomfortable encounters with powerful men in Hollywood. In a new interview with Jenny Hutt on SiriusXM Friday morning, The Good Wife star recalled an alleged meeting with Steven Seagal that she hasn't forgotten about. "When I was 23, a casting director, a woman, said, 'Well, Steven Seagal wants to go over the scene with you in his hotel room at 10 o'clock at night.' And I lived in Brooklyn, and I said, 'Oh, I don't do that. I don't travel. I don't have money for a cab.' And I didn't," Julianna said. "And I said, 'And I don't take subways late at night.' And she says, 'Don't worry, we'll reimburse you. And I'm here.' A woman, because we need to start holding these people accountable." The actress continued, "And I got to the hotel around 10:40 p.m. and she wasn't there and he was alone and he made sure that I saw his gun, which I had never seen a gun in real life. And I got out of there unscathed... I never was raped, and I never was harmed. I don't know how I got out of that hotel room. It always starts with 'I'm a healer. I want to massage you' and I sort of squirmed my way out." E! News has reached out to Steven's team for comment on Julianna's allegations. While the actress admits that she ended up continuing with the movie, she learned to always have someone you can trust around. "When I got to LA, I made sure people were around me all the time. I never was alone with him," she shared. "Because of my experience with Steven Seagal in that room, which was horrific, I refused to meet Harvey Weinstein in his hotel room when another woman brought me." In the same interview, Julianna went on to allege that Harvey wanted to meet with her in his hotel room. When she finally agreed to go up with another person, she was uncomfortable with what allegedly transpired. "He opened the door, in a bathrobe. I could see that there were candles lit in the room, and there was a dinner for two. And I saw him stare at her ... and he looked at me, furious, and he took the door and he said, 'Just wanted to say great audition.' And he slammed the door," Julianna said. "And of course I didn't get the part." E! News has also reached out to Harvey's team for comment regarding Julianna's claims. His team, however, continues to deny "any allegations of non-consensual sex" in recent weeks. With every person that comes forward, the E.R. alumna does hope that it can help the younger generation be prepared when they become older. "The point is for years, years, we also just shrugged it off. It's not to be shrugged off," she shared. "We have to start with our children and protect them and give them every tool in the shed to know that they can say no." (Eonline)

Tyrese No Longer Being Investigated for Child Abuse. Tyrese Gibson is no longer being investigated for child abuse. E! News can confirm the Department of Child and Family Services has closed its investigation into the actor after his ex-wife, Norma Gibson, claimed he beat their 10-year-old daughter, Shayla. We've learned the LADCFS will not be pressing any criminal charges against the Fast and Furious star. The allegations came forward amid Norma's battle for a custody agreement and a permanent restraining order against Tyrese. In court documents, Norma claimed on Aug. 19, Tyrese "went into a rage, pushed our daughter to the ground, pinned her face down, put his knees on her back, grabbed her hands with one arm and beat her with the other." Norma also alleged Shayla was unable to sit after the incident. At the time, Norma was granted legal and physical custody of Shayla as well as a temporary restraining order to keep the actor 100 yards away from both of them. In response, Tyrese told E! News, "After 9 years of working extremely hard to co-parent our child, I am disappointed to learn that the mother of my daughter has made gross and false accusations against my character in a shameful attempt to ruin our co-parenting efforts. There is nothing I love more in this world than my daughter and I would never do anything to harm her well-being or happiness. Co-parenting is tough and it's unfortunate when your partner tries to sabotage the situation with hurtful lies and irrational behavior." The actor also took to social media Friday -- as he's done throughout the contentious legal battle -- to share a photo of him holding his daughter as a baby and open up about the situation. "Soon again.... Shayla You will dance with your father again," he wrote. "Crack your jokes, do your best to inject yourself into this #DaddyDaughter custody situation....... The real MEN and fathers out here know..... it only highlights your OWN insecurities...... ! wish ! had it in me to respond, ! normally do ! just can't cause all of my energy and prayers and love and power belongs to SHAYLA.... Cause #ShaylaRocks." He continued, "God bless you..... Have fun guys with your little ones ok? When you hear their little feet running through the house don't take it for granted...." The former couple -- who was married from 2007 to 2009 -- will continue to hash things out in court. (Eonline)

Laurence filed divorce docs and they confirmed what TMZ reported Friday -- Laurence and the "Suits" star likely spent the last year divvying up assets. They announced their split last September but list October 14, 2016 as the date of separation. In docs obtained by TMZ ... Laurence says, "the parties have entered into an agreement in disposition of property which will be submitted for approval" ... as in waiting for the judge to sign off on it. Laurence cites irreconcilable differences for why he wants out. They were married on September 22, 2002. He checked the boxes for joint legal and physical custody of their 10-year-old daughter, Delilah ... and wants to block the judge from giving either of them spousal support. (TMZ)

Robert Carradine left his estranged wife high and dry while she was caring for her sick dad, and now she wants a judge to force him to sell prized possessions ... according to docs. The "Revenge of the Nerds" star's estranged wife, Edith, says Carradine cut her off financially after she flew to Switzerland to be with her father while he was hospitalized with a life-threatening condition. In the docs, Edith says he'd been sending voluntary payments of $2,450 a month, plus some of his royalties, while they worked out their divorce -- but stopped while she was away. She says she's dirt broke, and adds ... if Robert's hard up for money she knows where he can get some quick. Edith suggests the court make Robert sell his guitars, guns and cameras so he can pay her what she's owed. According to the docs, his collection is worth about $192k. She's requesting $4k per month ... plus $15k to pay her lawyers. (TMZ)

House of Cards Staff Members Allege Kevin Spacey Sexual Misconduct. Troubling allegations of sexual misconduct continue to mount against Kevin Spacey. In a new report from CNN, eight former or current House of Cards staffers, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, recounted Spacey's alleged pattern of sexual harassment onset of the Netflix series. One former production assistant claimed the actor sexually assaulted him while filming an early season of House of Cards. Spacey has not commented on the latest allegations. According to Deadline, he is no longer represented by talent agency CAA. It was revealed Wednesday that the Oscar winner began seeking "evaluation and treatment" in light of the ongoing scandal. CNN reports the former employees describing Spacey's behavior on set as "predatory," which allegedly included non-consensual contact and offensive remarks often made against young men. Both Netflix and producer Media Rights Capital have responded to the allegations in statements to E! News. As previously stated, Netflix sent a "representative" to the Baltimore, Maryland set to meet with the cast and crew. On Tuesday, production was suspended indefinitely on House of Cards' sixth and final season. "Netflix was just made aware of one incident, five years ago, that we were informed was resolved swiftly," the streaming services said, adding, "Netflix is not aware of any other incidents involving Kevin Spacey on-set. We continue to collaborate with MRC and other production partners to maintain a safe and respectful working environment. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate our path forward as it relates to the production, and have nothing further to share at this time." Media Rights Capital said they've installed an anonymous complaint hotline, and is providing crisis counselors and sexual harassment legal advisors for the crew. "We are deeply troubled to learn about these new allegations that are being made to the press concerning Kevin Spacey's interaction with members of the crew of House of Cards," their statement read. "As the producer of the show, creating and maintaining a safe working environment for our cast and crew has always been our top priority. We have consistently reinforced the importance of employees reporting any incident without fear of retaliation and we have investigated and taken appropriate actions following any complaints." It continued, "For example, during our first year of production in 2012, someone on the crew shared a complaint about a specific remark and gesture made by Kevin Spacey. Immediate action was taken following our review of the situation and we are confident the issue was resolved promptly to the satisfaction of all involved. Mr. Spacey willingly participated in a training process and since that time MRC has not been made aware of any other complaints involving Mr. Spacey." MRC said it would continue to investigate any current and new claims formally brought to their attention. The production assistant who alleged Spacey assaulted him told CNN that while driving to an offsite location to pick up the actor and bring him to set, Spacey attempted to put his hand down his pants. It continued when in a trailer he said Spacey "cornered him, blocked his exit and made inappropriate contact with him." The former employee recalled telling Spacey he wasn't comfortable, which he said caused the celebrity to leave set for the day. "I was in a state of shock," he told CNN. "He was a man in a very powerful position on the show and I was someone very low on the totem pole and on the food chain there." The production assistant said he did not report the encounter to managers or authorities, but revealed he had previously complained to his supervisors that Spacey was harassing him months prior. Spacey was not allowed to be alone with the assistant, he shared, until he said the harassment stopped long enough for the individual to feel comfortable with him. Other crew members detailed either experiencing or witnessing similar encounters with Spacey and called the working environment "toxic." One former female production assistant recalled, "It was very known that Kevin was inappropriate, and males I worked with complained to me about how they felt uncomfortable." The latest claims against Spacey follow actor Anthony Rapp's assertion that Spacey attempted to make a sexual advance against him at the age of 14. Spacey issued an apology shortly thereafter that read in part, "I honestly do not remember the encounter as it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior and I am sorry for the feelings he described having carried with him all these years." He continued, ""This story has encouraged me to address other things in my life...I have loved and had romantic encounters with men throughout my life, and I choose now to live as a gay man." Many of Spacey's famous peers condemned his response and the International Academy of Television Arts & Sciences stripped him of an upcoming honor. (Eonline)

Kevin Spacey Sexual Assault Claim Under Investigation by London Police. British police are investigating an allegation of sexual assault made against Kevin Spacey in London, marking the latest in a series of harassment claims made against him and the first time authorities have gotten involved. The latest alleged incident is said to have taken place in the U.K. capital in 2008, while Spacey was working there as the artistic director of the Old Vic Theatre, several outlets, including The Guardian, reported on Friday. "On Wednesday, 1 November, City of London police referred an allegation of sexual assault to the Metropolitan police service," a Scotland Yard spokesman told E! News. "It is alleged a man assaulted another man in 2008 in Lambeth. Officers from the Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command are investigating." Spacey has not commented on the investigation. While London police do not confirm identities of alleged perpetrators, British media believed him to be Spacey. No arrests have been made. According to The Sun, a man said that in 2008, Spacey invited him to his London home for a drink. The newspaper said the man had asked the House of Cards star to help with his career. A source told The Sun that the two smoked weed and that the man passed out. The man claims he woke up to find Spacey performing oral sex on him, the newspaper reported. He said he told him to stop, then fled the residence. Spacey allegedly told him, "Don't tell anyone about this," the newspaper said. The actor has not commented. The Sun said the complaint was referred to the Metropolitan Police and that detectives from the Met's Child Abuse and Sexual Offences Command interviewed the alleged victim on Thursday at a police station. The police declined to comment on The Sun's report that the complainant had been interviewed by police, The Guardian said. Spacey was first accused publicly of sexual assault last weekend. Star Trek: Discovery and Adventures in Babysitting actor Anthony Rapp said the star made an unwanted sexual advance toward him when he was just 14. Spacey then issued a statement on Twitter, saying, "I am beyond horrified to hear his story. I honestly do not remember the encounter as it would have been over 30 years ago. But if I did behave then as he describes I owe him the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior and I am sorry for the feelings he described having carried with him all these years." On Monday, Netflix announced House of Cards would end after the upcoming sixth season. On Tuesday, the company said production on the show has been been suspended indefinitely. Also that day, director Tony Montana, told Radar Online, and later, The Los Angeles Times, that Spacey groped him in a Los Angeles bar in 2003 and British bartender Daniel Beal told The Sun that the actor flashed him outside a British hotel in 2010 while he was on a cigarette break. Roberto Cavazos, who acted in several plays at the theater, wrote on Facebook on Monday that he "had a couple of unpleasant encounters with Spacey that were on the edge of being considered assault," adding, "There are many of us who have a 'Kevin Spacey story.' On Tuesday, the Old Vic Theatre said in a statement, "We are deeply dismayed to hear the allegations levied against Kevin Spacey, who was Artistic Director from 2004–2015," and urged anyone "connected with The Old Vic or in our employment" who felt they had a complaint they were unable to raise to contact them. On Wednesday, Spacey's rep said the actor "is taking the time necessary to seek evaluation and treatment." A day later, multiple outlets reported that his publicist and talent agency have cut ties with him amid mounting sexual harassment and abuse allegations. That day, an anonymous accuser, a former House of Cards production assistant, told CNN that Spacey sexually assaulted him on the set of the Netflix series and eight former and current staffers described the actor's behavior at work as "predatory," which allegedly included non-consensual contact and offensive remarks often made against young men. Also on Thursday, another anonymous accuser told Vulture that he and Spacey had a sexual relationship in 1983 when he was 14 and Spacey was 24 and that it ended when the actor, who was 24 at the time, allegedly attempted to rape him. Spacey has not responded to any of the allegations other than Rapp's. (Eonline)

Corey Feldman Names Jon Grissom as One of His Alleged Sexual Abusers. Corey Feldman says former actor Jon Grissom, who starred with him and Corey Haim in two films, sexually molested him as a child. The accused man, whose name is often misspelled as "John Grissom," has not commented. Last month, the 46-year-old Goonies actor released a seven-minute video, saying that he can named six people who allegedly committed sexual abuse and hopes to produce a movie about his life and the problem of pedophilia in Hollywood. The actor had often spoken out about the issue and in his 2013 memoir Coreyography, he named one of his alleged abusers, "Ron Crimson." On an episode of the Dr. Oz show that aired on Thursday, he confirmed to Dr. Mehmet Oz that that man is really Grissom. "That is him," Feldman said as Oz held up a photo of the former actor on his phone. "That's the guy." "This guy, on his Myspace page and his Facebook page has pictures of me and Corey Haim," Feldman said. "He still taunts it and flaunts it." For years, since Feldman's book was released, people had speculated that "Ron Crimson" was Grissom. "We had to change the names legally," Feldman told Oz. "The lawyers made me change the names. ... They gave me a list of three or four, you know, names. I picked the one that sounded closest to his name." Feldman and the Haim, who died in 2010, were frequent co-stars and were dubbed the "Two Coreys." Grisson starred with them in the '80s films License to Drive, in which he played a valet, and Dream a Little Dream, in which he played a P.E. coach. They marked his only credited acting roles. In his book, Feldman wrote that in 1986 or early 1987, his dad hired "Ron Crimson," a "young, good-looking guy in his early twenties" to work at his acting workshop and management company. The actor said that at age 15, he and "Ron" became friends and partied at clubs with friends together and also alleged did drugs. The Dr. Oz show later released a video saying that its legal counsel believes that Grissom served time in prison in 2003 for child molestation, lives in California and is a "fugitive from justice" as he never registered as a sex offender. E! News has confirmed through public records that Grissom was convicted of said charges. Feldman said he shared the accusations with the Santa Barbara Police Department in 1993. A PIO with the SBPD told Fox News, "Our records do not indicate that he named any suspects. If he has any information regarding a crime or crimes that occurred, we encourage him to contact our office or his local law enforcement agency." On the Dr. Oz show, Oz and Feldman were seen on a call with Los Angeles police. The conversation was not recorded for legal reasons. The LAPD told E! News the incident has been "brought to their attention" but there is no open investigation at this time. A representative told us Feldman can only file a formal report in person, and not over the phone from New York. "It seems to me like they are going to take it seriously," Feldman said on the Dr. Oz show. "They are going to do an interview with me and it rains when I get back to Los Angeles. However, they did give me the warning that based on the statute of limitations, they can only open an investigation, but they cannot promise that it will be prosecuted." "I want to give them the names of everybody," the actor added. "I told them that. I said, 'I am going to give you the names of everybody I have any knowledge of and I would like you to start putting the pressure on all of them." In his book, Feldman also identified former talent manager Marty Weiss as one of his alleged abusers and did not use a pseudonym, as in 2012, the man pleaded no contest to two counts of committing lewd acts on a child under the age of 14. He was sentenced to one year in jail and had to register as a sex offender. Feldman named him again on Megyn Kelly Today earlier this week. "I was abused by two different people," he said. "The second one ran a child's club in Hollywood...I just found out he's working for the L.A. Dodgers." He did not name the man. (Eonline)

THE OTHER STUFF . . .

Selena Quintanilla Officially Receives Star on Hollywood Walk of Fame. Selena Quintanilla-Perez officially has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame! Her fans can finally rejoice because all of their hard work and loyalty has truly paid off. First, it was a Mac makeup line, then a wax figure and now the late singer finally has a star in Hollywood. The Tejano music star was honored with a posthumous star, and her family and loyal fans were there to receive it in her name. "Selena was an angel," Mayor Eric Garcetti said. "While she was taken from us way too early, we now have something permanent that generation after generation after generation can see in the most famous neighborhood anywhere in the world." Victor Gonzalez from Universal Records presented the Quintanilla family with two commemorative plates. First one was in recognition of Selena's seven diamond albums, the second one was for Selena's 75 platinum career singles. Eva Longoria, a fellow Texan like Selena, also spoke to honor the "Bidi Bidi Bom Bom singer." "It's beyond humbling to stand here on behalf of a person that I myself owe so much to," the actress said while fighting back the tears. "I promised myself I wasn't going to cry." "Because as Eric said, this star isn't only for Selena, it's for every Latina who's out there, who has ever had a dream," Longoria continued. "Growing up there was no reflection of me anywhere, not on TV, not in movies, not in music, and it was as if someone like me didn't exist in American mainstream. That all changed when a bright, young singer named Selena came and changed the landscape of music entertainment. "Inevitably changing my own journey. What wasn't even ever heard of was now a beat that pulsed so loudly that it vibrated across America and across the world. Selena's voice was a key that unlocked the hearts and minds of millions. She was a small town girl with a big heart and a smile that radiated and captivated people everywhere. That small town was my hometown of Corpus Christi, Texas." In the past, the Desperate Housewives alum has spoken about how she always felt connected to Selena because of their roots. "She was the face I finally saw that looked like mine, she validated my existence, and she proved to the world that we existed, us Mexican Americans. She straddled the hyphen of what it meant to be as American as apple pie and as Mexican as enchiladas," Longoria said laughing. "I, too, didn't speak Spanish growing up, but I felt so connected to my culture despite that. She gave me an identity. Not only for myself but also for an entire community. She created a path when there wasn't one. "And she did all of this before the age of 23. She accomplished more in her youth than most of us can dream of in a lifetime. So even though Selena's own star burned briefly, stars like hers burn so brightly and so intensely that the time that the time that you're allowed with them is never long enough. "We lost her way too soon, but we can honor her here tonight by cementing her place amongst the stars, where she belongs. Selena, your voice was heard and tonight, tomorrow and for the rest of our lives, we honor that voice by continuing to blaze more trails for more Latinas in honor of you," Longoria concluded. Her sister Suzette Quintanilla not only helped with the preparation of the star, she also accepted it in honor of her sister and family. "I feel like we've crossed different generations. We're now in a whole new generation of millennials and I'm very grateful on behalf of my family and myself for them embracing her and finding her," Suzette said. "I want to keep this short and sweet. I want to thank my parents, especially my father for having that vision and being able to guide us throughout our whole career and for teaching us that we can succeed as long as we put in hard work. I hope that sets the example for all of our youth that's out there." "I think Selena said it best, 'The impossible is possible.'" she continued. "I'll leave you with this, Selena said, 'The goal isn't to live forever, but to create something that will.' And I think tonight is a perfect testament of that." Also in attendance Angelica Maria, Angelica Vale, Gregory Nava, Selena's widower Chris Perez, Selena's brother A.B. Quintanilla, Selena's band Los Dinos, and Edward James Olmos. All of the speakers walked over and unveiled the star while fans cheered and screamed, "We love you, Selena!" Perez along with Selena's parents and brother then walked over for photos. That's when the late singer's husband placed white roses over the star. Thursday night, Perez passed by the star before fans and the media gathered the following day. "Had to stop by, give a kiss, and say, 'I'll see you tomorrow,'" the musician captioned a photo of the concealed star on Hollywood Boulevard. Fans can visit the star which is located in front of the Capitol Records building at 1750 Vine Street or watch the live stream of the ceremony on YouTube. (Eonline)

Kenneth Lonergan -- the Oscar-winning screenwriter of last year's "Manchester by the Sea" -- was in London to debut his latest project, a TV adaptation of E.M. Forster's "Howards End" starring Hayley Atwell. Producer Colin Callender hosted the screening at BFI Southbank, where insiders were buzzing that the BBC/Starz miniseries has cast "the next wave of 'It' Brit actors" -- including Atwell, who starred in Marvel's "Agent Carter"; Alex Lawther, who played young Alan Turing "The Imitation Game"; and Philippa Coulthard (who's technically Australian, but never mind). Busy Callender then headed from the screening to the set of director Richard Eyre's "King Lear" starring Anthony Hopkins and Emma Thompson (who both starred in the 1992 version of "Howards End"). We hear this "Lear" was shooting till 1?a.m. on Saturday in an English quarry that was transformed into a windswept refugee camp, where the cast and crew were "knee-deep in mud." The production will next head to film at Dover's famed Shakespeare Cliff. Callender also just wrapped "Little Women" with Angela Lansbury and Maya Thurman-Hawke -- the daughter of Uma Thurman and Ethan Hawke. (PageSix)

How Long-Lost Footage Was Revived for the New Jane Goodall Doc. 'Jane' director Brett ?Morgen shaped hours of vintage film into an account of the primatologist's early years as she meets chimps just as expressive as any in 'War ?for the Planet of the Apes.' Director Brett Morgen likens his new documentary Jane, which recounts how the trailblazing primatologist Jane Goodall began her lifelong study of chimpanzees, to a "cinematic opera," but getting there was like solving "the ultimate jigsaw puzzle." Morgen, an Oscar nominee for 1999's On the Ropes, boarded the project, which opened in theaters Oct. 20, when National Geographic offered him a trove of 16mm footage that Goodall's then-husband, wildlife filmmaker Hugo van Lawick, shot in the 1960s. Sitting in Nat Geo's archives, the footage was rediscovered in 2014, but, says Morgen, it was "140 hours of random shots -- no two consecutive shots. There was no sound, no notes." To turn it into a compelling narrative, the director assembled a team of interns, assistants and researchers at his production office in Culver City and spent more than six months identifying and organizing the footage. He also built a room for sound editors to work in 7.1 surround sound. Since the footage was silent, wildlife recordings collected at the Gombe Stream National Park, where Goodall worked, were handed over to supervising sound editor Warren Shaw and associate supervising sound editor Joshua Paul Johnson, whom Morgen describes as the film's "chimp vocalization expert." Johnson helped turn the various chimps into emotive individuals. The sound editing didn't just involve the painstaking task of matching chimpanzee sounds with pictures, but also had to complement the score composed by three-time Oscar nominee Philip Glass. Says Johnson, "It was important that the chimpanzees and other sound effects presented a harmonious soundscape with the music." Once Morgen viewed all of the cataloged footage, he wrote the script and conducted new interviews with Goodall. Working with editor Joe Beshenkovsky, Morgen first cut the film to some preliminary music from Glass, but when the final score was ready, the film had to be recut, matching picture and sound. Says Morgen, "We re-edited the entire film in two months; it was a necessity." (Hollywood Reporter)

Kevin Spacey may be written out of 'House of Cards'. Frank Underwood could get impeached from his own show. Kevin Spacey will be written out of "House of Cards" amid sexual harassment allegations that have damaged the actor's once-sterling reputation, according to a report on Friday. Production of the political drama has been halted as writers scramble to rewrite the Netflix drama's sixth and final season -- perhaps with former President Underwood not in the script, sources told The Hollywood Reporter. "They shut it down to figure out how to write him out," a source told the Tinseltown trade mag. Virtually the entire season had been written and two episodes shot when "Star Trek" actor Anthony Rapp came forward last weekend with sexual harassment allegations against Spacey from a 1986 incident. At the time, Rapp was 14 and Spacey 26. Since then, more accusers -- including employees on "House of Cards" -- have come forward to say Spacey acted inappropriately. (PageSix)

Netflix Officially Cuts All Ties to Kevin Spacey. Netflix is saying goodbye to Kevin Spacey. The following statement was released Friday evening to multiple outlets, shedding light on the uncertain future of House of Cards' final season. "Netflix will not be involved with any further production of House of Cards that includes Kevin Spacey. We will continue to work with MRC during this hiatus time to evaluate out path forward as it relates to the show. We have also decided we will not be moving forward with the release of the film Gore, which was in post-production, starring and produced by Kevin Spacey." Shortly thereafter, MRC released a subsequent statement: "While we continue the ongoing investigation into the serious allegations concerning Kevin Spacey's behavior on the set of House of Cards, he has been suspended, effective immediately. MRC, in partnership with Netflix, will continue to evaluate a creative path forward for the program during the hiatus." Earlier this week, Netflix and producer Media Rights Capital sent executives down to the Baltimore, Maryland set of House of Cards following allegations leveled at Spacey by Star Trek: Discovery's Anthony Rapp. The two companies in a joint statement said they were "deeply troubled" by Rapp's allegations and sent executives to the set "to meet with our cast and crew to ensure that they continue to feel safe and supported." Following the announcement of the investigation, the two companies announced production on the sixth and final season would be suspended. "MRC and Netflix have decided to suspend production on House of Cards season six, until further notice, to give us time to review the current situation and to address any concerns of our cast and crew," the two companies said in a joint statement to E! News. Spacey was nominated for five Emmys for playing Frank Underwood, who rose from a congressman to president. At the end of the fifth season, Robin Wright's Claire Underwood had assumed the presidency. Her character turned to the camera, like Spacey's had for seasons before, and said, "My turn." (Eonline)

How Will and Grace Said Goodbye to Shelley Morrison's Rosario. Will & Grace said goodbye to a beloved character in the Thursday, Nov. 2 episode, "Rosario's Quinceanera." Warning, spoilers follow. In an emotional half hour, Megan Mullally's Karen Walker said goodbye to her beloved maid, Rosario, played by Shelley Morrison during the show's original run and later featured in the cast's election PSA that jump-started Will & Grace's return to NBC. The episode, which also featured the return of Minnie Driver as Lorraine Finster and Charles C. Stevenson's Smitty, saw Rosario suffer a heart attack and die from complications -- all off screen. Morrison, 81, is still alive. "Shelley has decided to retire," series co-creator Max Mutchnick told press at TCA 2017 summer press tour. "It was with a heavy heart that she gave us that information and that we received it, but it is the way that it goes. It is a choice that she has made. We really wanted Shelley to be a part of this series, so we find ourselves having to figure that out moving forward. It was not an easy decision to make, but it's one that she made." Karen had planned to throw Rosario a quinceanera after she was discharged from the hospital. That never happened, so in true Will & Grace fashion, Rosario's funeral was a hybrid quinceanera. Grace (Debra Messing), Jack (Sean Hayes) and Will (Eric McCormack) all took turns comforting Karen. Grace addressed her own mother's death (the character was played by the late Debbie Reynolds) and her own emotional reaction, and despite Hayes' impressive feat of physical comedy, it was McCormack's Will who got through and understood Karen's grief. She missed the mass, but had her own moment to say goodbye. "Sorry I wasn't here, but come on, what the hell was I going to say? She was my maid, she was my sparring partner, she was my best friend? You were my everything, Rosario Yolanda Salazar. You know it's funny, people keep asking, 'What do you need? What do you need?' I need for you to not be gone. Here honey, I want you to have something that was my mother's. Makes sense you should have it, lord knows you've been eying it for years," Karen said handing her a ring. "Honey, I'm not going with you to cemetery, so don't get mad, OK? I just can't watch them put you in ground. I have to remember you my way, so if it's alright, I'm just going to sit here with you for a while." Karen sprayed the coffin with cleaner and scrubbed it with some tulle as punctuation to the emotional goodbye. "Te amo, mommy," Karen said. If this episode doesn't clinch Mullally an Emmy nomination for her expert work in this revival then nothing else will. Will & Grace airs Thursdays, 9 p.m. on NBC. (Eonline)

Parents Tell Their Kids They Ate All Their Halloween Candy for Jimmy Kimmel: 'That's Why I Don't Love You!' It's that wonderful time of year again when being a parent pays off-the annual Jimmy Kimmel Live! Halloween prank. For the seventh year in a row there were tears, tantrums and very rude gestures from toddlers for the "Hey Jimmy Kimmel, I Told My Kids I Ate All Their Halloween Candy!" mashup. While Kimmel is off this week, the beloved and hilarious segment still went ahead on Thursday with guest host Jennifer Lawrence introducing the compilation of sneaky parents telling their little ones they had eaten all the candy. The reactions ranged from meltdowns and screaming to one child demanding her mother "Spit it out! Spit it out of your tummy." Others preferred non-verbal methods of explaining their outrage: one boy smiled as he flipped his mother off, another smashed the phone out of their parent's hand and a boy in a ninja costume tried out his ninja moves on his father's crotch. A very upset little boy declared that eating his candy was "why I don't love you." Not all of the children took their parents' candy eating ways as badly, with a sweet little boy instantly forgiving his mom. Kim Kardashian West, who was a guest on Thursday night's show, said she thought about pulling the same trick on her children, North, 3, and Saint, 23 months, but she just could not bring herself to do so. Kimmel and actor Channing Tatum, who guest hosted the show earlier in the week, did not have the same qualms. Both dads happily pranked their children and the hilarious results were shown earlier this week. Jimmy Kimmel Live! airs weeknights (11:35 p.m.) on ABC. (People)

Whoopi Goldberg Talks Harassment in Hollywood, Gun Ownership. During an appearance on 'The Late Show with Stephen Colbert,' 'The View' co-host gave her thoughts on Harvey Weinstein's Academy removal and what she thinks is at the root of sexual misconduct. During an appearance on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert on Thursday, Whoopi Goldberg addressed the recent wave of sexual assault and harassment claims against powerful Hollywood figures. After admitting she wasn't surprised by the volume of women coming forward, Goldberg argued that any act of sexual misconduct is about "power." Goldberg explained, "People in power, be they men or women, always prey on people who they know won't tell." When Colbert interjected that he "hadn't heard of any women in this one," The View co-host said she wouldn't rule out the possibility. "Not yet, but you know it's coming. It's all coming and what's happening is women are taking back the narrative, because they're saying, 'Look, we're going to make it dangerous for you to sexually assault us and sexually abuse us... ' You're going to lose your power base if you do that from now on, because women are starting to speak," Goldberg said. Alluding to the Kevin Spacey allegedly making a sexual advance at Anthony Rapp when he was 14-years old, Goldberg said that harassment claims aren't only limited to women speaking up. "Gay folks are coming out saying, 'Hey, this happened to me too.' So it's an issue that isn't about sexuality. It's about power," Goldberg explained. "And when you prey on the weak, the stronger of us have to stand with the weak and say, 'We got your back' and that's what's happening now. I think it's great." Goldberg, who is a member of the board of the Motion Picture Academy, viewed Harvey Weinstein's removal from the Academy as a step in rewriting the "rules of engagement." "I think they were able to say we are aware, and we don't think this is okay," Goldberg said of the decision. Adding, "But, you know, everyone is talking now. It's on the tips of everybody's tongue. Let's see how long this lasts, because people hear about stuff and that's the thing they're talking about and then something else happens and everything disappears. Let's get all of that done, and then rewrite the rules of engagement. So we can decide how to do stuff." Colbert also asked Goldberg for her thoughts on gun ownership in the wake of the Las Vegas massacre. "Actually, I'm a gun owner, babe," Goldberg revealed to Colbert. "I also believe in a woman's right to choose. We can be lots of different things in one body, which is what I encompass." Although she owns a gun, Goldberg insisted that she doesn't want "do anything odd." "You can check all my stuff. Come and find out what I'm doing, where I bought stuff, because I want you to know that I'm not trying to do anything odd with my gun," Goldberg said. Still the View co-host doesn't think it's a "good idea" for those with mental disabilities to have access to weapons. "If your senator or congress person voted for the idea that people with mental disabilities should have guns maybe you want to re-think if that's the person you want representing you, because I don't know if it's a good idea," Goldberg said. Switching gears to discuss their duties of commenting on the daily news cycle on their respective shows, Colbert asked Goldberg whether she was tired of discussing the "big orange whale" that has "swallowed the news cycle" over the past two years. Goldberg admitted that she was, but believed in taking action, rather than complaining. "I look away from the news and the discussion. You can bitch as much as you want to unless you're willing to change the things which surround this man, be it a great Republican or great Democrat who's decided to do people instead of party. Those are the people you have to celebrate and those are the people you have to keep in place, because those are the people who are actually doing stuff for the people. It's about the people. It's not about the party." (Hollywood Reporter)

'SMILF': TV Review. Frankie Shaw breaks out as a struggling single mom in Showtime's newest dramedy. There is much to like in the pilot for Showtime's latest dramedy, SMILF, which was created by, stars and is directed and produced by Frankie Shaw (Mr. Robot), joining the ranks of likeminded "artisanal television" efforts by talented creators looking to put their distinctive stamps on stories for the small screen. But it's the two subsequent episodes of SMILF that Showtime made available that truly point to the series being special. Shaw, playing an exaggerated version of herself, is Bridgette Bird, a slightly bedraggled, more than slightly struggling actress, a single mother in South Boston with a bi-racial kid; a kinda-sorta interested baby daddy, Rafi (Miguel Gomez, so great in The Strain); a tough-love mom with mental health issues (Rosie O'Donnell); and a part-time job as a nanny to a wealthy woman (Connie Britton), who might be living the idealized version of Bridgette's life if Bridgett had used her writing skills to go to college instead of pursuing acting or her bigger dream of playing in the WNBA. And, oh yeah, Bridgette is a victim of sexual abuse and suffers from an eating disorder she's trying to keep at bay in trying times (raising a kid as a single mom without a lot of opportunity isn't easy). There's also the side issue of really wanting to get laid, which is partly complicated by having her three-year-old son Larry (as in Larry Bird) constantly in tow. SMILF -- the acronym, in case you didn't know, for Single Mom I'd Like (to) Fuck -- has a lot on its plate, with the pilot not fully letting viewers into the enormity of its scope. Shaw is fantastic here -- the series brings to life a short film she brought to the Sundance Film Festival, generating raves -- and there's lots of nuance to Bridgette over the first three episodes that Showtime made available to critics. But when viewers first meet Bridgette, there's a danger that they might get the wrong impression if any form of sympathy is the goal. Bridgette initially seems less a victim of circumstance than someone life happens to, and in return has no outwardly obvious desire to change the circumstances of her predicament. SMILF presents Bridgette as kind of a sad sack, but also a slacker of sorts. There are jokes about whether her vagina has been "blown out" by Larry's birth and whether this, along with being a single mom (on the wrong side of prosperous and frequently dressed in sweats), makes her less desirable. Add to that Shaw's kind of laconic delivery and Bridgette's love of smoking pot and masturbating, and it would be easy in the early going to believe there's not much else on the agenda and not exactly a rooting interest in the heroine. But SMILF quickly, in the following two episodes, builds a strong case that there's a whole lot more to discover here. Shaw is such a dynamic presence, oddly beautiful without being blow dried and lacquered with make-up, believable in sweats and slides but also transcending them. That trait is used, cleverly, as a joke when Bridgette meets Nelson (Samara Weaving), Rafi's new Australian girlfriend and social media sensation (because of her, um, nipples), and Nelson compliments Bridgette on having "a gritty quality." It's another good sign that Nelson moves from being the hot girlfriend to a more realized -- and funny -- character in the next two episodes. Even more affirming is how SMILF allows O'Donnell, as Bridgette's mom, Tutu, to really blossom in complicated ways (particularly around signs of mental illness). Gomez and Britton also broaden their roles in the ensuing episodes. Bridgette's friend from her food support group, Eliza (Raven Goodwin), also emerges as an intriguing character (and it should be noted that Larry, as played by twins Anna and Alexandra Reimer, is just adorable; how the show, if it plays for multiple seasons, deals with the gender issue of the twins remains to be seen). None of SMILF would work beyond the struggling single-mom trope if it weren't for Shaw truly announcing herself here as a creative force. With Bridgette, we get more than first imagined (there's such a great and creepy scene in the third episode that rivals anything on the other "artisanal television" series, like Master of None, Atlanta and Better Things) and her evident growth indicates that SMILF will pay off on its potential. The best television is going in this direction -- personal, intimate, not bound by traditional rules or storytelling. By the third episode, Shaw has managed to turn SMILF into something special -- funny, sad, evocative. It's bleak, but humor undercuts some of that. We're not yet at the point, with three episodes, where Shaw's vision is definitive or her ambition fully realized. But getting there is already special. That third episode ends with an unexpectedly beautiful (and strangely uplifting) prolonged final scene that sets a tantalizingly deep hook. Showtime looks to have found something special with SMILF. Cast: Frankie Shaw, Rosie O'Donnell, Connie Britton, Miguel Gomez, Samara Weaving, Anna and Alexandra Reimer, Raven Goodwin. Created, written, produced and directed by: Frankie Shaw. Sundays, 10 p.m., Showtime. (Hollywood Reporter)

TV Ratings: 'Young Sheldon' Returns Strong, 'SWAT' Opens Well. CBS easily won the night, also thanks to returning comedies 'The Big Bang Theory,' 'Mom,' and 'Life in Pieces.' CBS scored a big win for its first post-NFL Thursday night of programming this season. The network's time with Thursday Night Football may officially be at an end for the season, but the NFL did make a big cameo in the nation's No. 1 market. The network's primary New York affiliate carried the NFL Network's coverage of the Jets-Bills game, wreaking a bit of havoc on ratings for the night's big premieres -- including the official debut of Young Sheldon and freshman drama SWAT. Scores are tentative and subject to significant adjustment. SWAT, a remake of the '70s cop drama and headlined by former network star Shemar Moore, opened strong out of the gate, drawing a 1.3 rating among adults 18-49. That's a notable rise compared to CBS' two previous drama efforts in that timeslot: Pure Genius, which premiered with a 1.0 rating, and more recently Training Day, which drew just a 0.9 rating. CBS also got good news from the return of freshman Big Bang Theory prequel Young Sheldon. In its first Thursday outing following a solid airing of Big Bang (2.7 adults), Young Sheldon pulled an impressive 2.4 rating in the demo. The September sampling of Young Sheldon, which aired on a Monday, cast a formidable shadow on the fall's other premieres -- none of which matched its out-of-the-gate success. With live-plus-seven day returns, the pilot episode earned an average 5.5 rating among adults 18-49 and has been watched by 22.5 million viewers. (Only parent series The Big Bang Theory and NBC juggernaut This Is Us have fared better this season.) It set a high bar. And even with the New York market, Sheldon's official debut was bound to shrink significantly. Following Young Sheldon, returning CBS comedies Mom (1.8 adults) and Life in Pieces (1.5 adults) were up three-tenths and four-tenths from their respective season finales. ABC followed with even outings of Grey's Anatomy (1.8 adults), Scandal (1.2 adults) and How to Get Away With Murder (0.9 adults). With the exception of a steady Good Place (1.0 adults), NBC dipped with its fall finales. Superstore (1.0 adults) and Chicago Fire (1.0 adults) dipped two-tenths while Will & Grace (1.5 adults) and Great News (0.7 adults) both fell three-tenths. The Orville fell two-tenths (1.0 adults) on Fox, while Gotham (0.9 adults) was flat. Supernatural (0.6 adults) and Arrow (0.5 adults) were even for The CW. Thursday Night Football returns to broadcast next week, with NBC sharing the NFL Network and Amazon's coverage of the Seahawks and the Cardinals on Nov. 9. (Hollywood Reporter)
