I-10 ramp closures at Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch exit continue next week
Work on Interstate 10 between Tucson and Benson will require ramp closures at the Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch exit next week.
The following ramp closures are scheduled to allow the Arizona Department of Transportation to make improvements at the traffic interchange in western Cochise County:
- The eastbound on-ramp closure at Mescal Road/J-Six Ranch (Exit 297) will remain in effect Monday (March 14) and Tuesday (March 15) between 6 a.m. and 4 p.m. each day. During this closure, motorists from the Mescal/J-Six area who wish to enter eastbound I-10 can take westbound I-10 to Empirita Road (Exit 292) and return to eastbound I-10.
- The eastbound off-ramp at Mescal/J-Six (Exit 297) will be closed daily from 6 a.m. until 4 p.m. from Wednesday (March 16) through Friday (March 18). During this closure, eastbound I-10 motorists can continue to State Route 90 (Exit 302) and return to westbound I-10 to access Mescal/J-Six.
The work is part of a $15.1 million project to improve 17 miles of I-10 in both directions between Tucson and Benson, including replacing the westbound I-10 bridge spanning Davidson Canyon, approximately 20 miles east of Tucson.
ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.
ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule.
