ON THIS DAY
ON THIS DAY
St. Patrick died on this date, back in 461.
- Needless to say, that was a very sad St. Patrick's Day. I believe they even canceled the parade that year.
- Someone must have been celebrating a little too much.
- While I know there's no way to prevent everybody from doing it, I would appreciate it if you didn't celebrate every year the day that I died.
On this date in 1776, British forces evacuated Boston. Well, the war, and all that snow... Even back then they had free-agency problems during the off-season.
In 1898, John Holland designed the first submarine.
- Although couples claimed they were watching submarine races for years.
- Builders couldn't wait to start putting one together. Teenagers were anxious to go watch the races.
- Of course, there were the bugs to work out. Like, no screen doors.
The Campfire Girls were officially started on this date back in 1910. Campfire helps transform young women until they are in mint condition. Then they go out and sell them. The mints, that is...
In 1950, scientists at the University Of California created a new radioactive element, which they name "californium."
- Good thing it wasn't in New Jersey. "New Jersium" sounds like an order from the mob... "Yeah, you better New Jersy him."
- 60 years later, that's how former governor Arnold Schwarzenegger pronounced the name of the state.
