Utility work to require lane closures Sunday at Ajo Way and Kinney in Tucson

Motorists traveling in the area of Ajo Way and Kinney Road will encounter travel restrictions Sunday (March 13) because of utility work in the area on Tucson’s southwest side.

The following restrictions will be in effect from 6:30 a.m. until 1:30 p.m. Sunday:

  • The right lane of westbound Ajo Way (State Route 86) will be closed approaching Kinney Road
  • Northbound Kinney Road will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with Ajo Way
  • Southbound Kinney Road will be reduced to one lane at the intersection with Ajo Way
  • The right lane of eastbound Ajo Way will be closed approaching Kinney Road

Access to local businesses will be maintained during this work, although some entrances will be closed.

ADOT advises drivers to proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and be alert for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but there is a possibility that unscheduled closures or restrictions may occur. Weather can also affect a project schedule. To stay up-to-date with the latest highway conditions around the state, visit the ADOT Traveler Information Center at www.az511.gov or call 511.

For more information about this project, please call C.T. Revere, ADOT Senior Community Relations Officer, at 1.520.705.3574 or email at crevere@azdot.gov.
