Road closure scheduled on Ajo Way and 16th Avenue in Tucson

The Arizona Department of Transportation advises drivers to plan for the following restriction for asphalt paving on Ajo Way and 16th Avenue:

Westbound Ajo Way will be closed to through traffic at 16th Avenue from 9 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 18, to early morning, Monday, Aug. 21.

Eastbound traffic will be closed at Kostka Drive (Santa Cruz River bridge) with southbound I-19 access only. The northbound I-19 off-ramp will remain open with all traffic detoured to the west on Ajo Way.

Westbound business and residential access will be allowed at 16th Avenue. Eastbound residential access will be allowed at Kostka Drive. The speed limit will remain at 25 mph.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction personnel and equipment.

Work is occurring in conjunction with the improvement project at Interstate 19 and Ajo Way. Please visit the project website for more information.
