State Route 88 closed near Canyon Lake Thursday night (April 26)

ADOT improvement project has crews doing overnight paving

Parts of State Route 88 (the Apache Trail) near Canyon Lake will be closed for several hours late Thursday night, April 26, for paving work, according to the Arizona Department of Transportation.

Drivers with plans to use the lightly traveled highway Thursday night should consider delaying travel in the area or using another route.

Closures lasting several hours are scheduled along SR 88 between 10 p.m. Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday, April 27, while crews add fresh pavement on two single-lane bridges near Canyon Lake.

The work is part of a $6.5 million SR 88 improvement project that includes pavement resurfacing or chip sealing along the highway from near Apache Junction to an area east of Tortilla Flat within the Tonto National Forest.

The project is scheduled for completion by fall 2018.
