National Singles Week -- beginning the third Sunday of September. A study suggests that most singles in the U.S. are not actively seeking a romantic partner or even dating frequently. That's the word from a national survey conducted by the Pew Internet & American Life Project, which found that 49% of young singles had been on no more than one date in the past three months. It turns out they're perfectly happy going to the movies alone, hanging out in bars with friends or just staying home and watching reruns on cable TV. What is even more surprising is that a scant 6% of singles are even looking for a romantic partner, a group that represents 7% of the entire adult population.
