Lane closure scheduled overnight on southbound I-19 at Ajo Way

Motorists traveling southbound on Interstate 19 will encounter overnight restrictions Wednesday, Nov. 2, while the Arizona Department of Transportation places temporary construction barrier on a median crossover north of Ajo Way.

The left lane of southbound I-19 will be closed from 9 p.m. Wednesday, Nov. 2, until 5 a.m. Thursday, Nov. 3.

The work is part of a $40 million project to replace the traffic interchange at I-19 and Ajo Way (State Route 86) and widen Ajo Way in the project area.

Drivers should proceed through the work zone with caution, slow down and watch for construction equipment and personnel.

ADOT works to inform the public about planned highway restrictions, but it’s possible that unscheduled closures or restrictions might occur because of weather or other factors. For the most current information about highway closures and restrictions statewide, visit ADOT’s Travel Information Site at www.az511.gov, follow us on Twitter (@ArizonaDOT) or call 511, except while driving.
