ON THIS DAY

On this date in 1620, the Puritans arrived in the Mayflower.
Just in time to celebrate the Thanksgiving tradition called "football."
They wanted to get her early in November to avoid the crazy Thanksgiving traffic.
When the Puritans landed at Cape Cod and said, "The Christmas Sales have started already?"
They wanted to get her on Veterans' Day weekend, so they could avoid the crowds around Thanksgiving.

In 1799, Napoleon became dictator of France.
It was a short stay. He was a short guy.
He wasn't as rude as most of France's leaders, but he was always a little short.
Even after four women had come forward against, saying some nasty things about him back in his days with the National Emperors Association.

On this date back in 1865 that General Lee surrendered to Union General Grant. Lee also fell on his sword, but he was smart about it and left it in the sheath.

The Great Boston Fire began on this date, back in 1872. The fire lasted three days and destroyed over 1,000 buildings... and none of the sports teams had even won a national championship!

On this date in 1956, the Arizona drought was declared the worst in 700 years. It was so dry, the cactus's were wearing canteens. Dogs would walk up to fire hydrants and leave an IOU. Etc.

On this date 20 years ago, "The Macarena" was knocked out of the number 1 spot on the charts after 14 weeks. I'm still trying to get it out of my brain.
